-Kratos being a weak ass bitch
-Kratos has rotting teeth and he is an immortal god

-Kratos can die in 2 hits to a simple mob
-Atreus hanging out with bad guys
-Whole angrboda plot
-They are not cursing
Feels liek gow3 Kratos would handle many of these situations better. helping a whale?!

Not wrong, ragnarok was just a bit of a damp squib, not a bad game, just a meh game, and not remotely memorable. A big step down from its predecessor.

2018 was so good, yes it was very different than what came before, but it felt like an evolution that worked.

I've been falling this series since 2005 and it was cool to connect back with it every so often, I hate to think they've pissed all of it away.

This reflects how I feel. GoW 2018 is so good and it feels like a completely organic adventure. Everything fits together so well. Ragnarok feels like it was designed on an excel spreadsheet where they said that every hour of gameplay needs to have

15m of combat
15m of walk-n-talk traversal
15m of puzzle
15m of RPG collecting/equipping

and then they repeated that same hour for like 50 hours. It feels very inorganic and planned out by a project manager. Corey's game felt like a real adventure from beginning to end.

I would say that God Of War: Ragnarok commits a sin that, while not fatal, follows it around like a stigma, and that is this. It constantly reminds me of how awesome God Of War (2018) is. Whenever a game that is by all accounts good or not great falls short, it has a tendency to commit a variation of this very sin--constantly reminding me of how awesome another game in its genre is. See how RE4 clones constantly remind you of how awesome RE4 is as one of many examples.

When the sequel to an amazing game can't measure up to its predecessor(s), this is usually the reason. People can claim eww woke, or too much talking, or Atreus sucks, but what it really boils down to can't be identified by a single flaw. It's an undeniable fact that the combat in God Of War: Ragnarok is a comedown. The bosses are not nearly as fun, none worse than the Berserkers who are the most dreadful part of the gameplay. I would rather walk and talk with Atreus and Angrboda for three hours than suffer through a single Berserker fight. Compare this to fighting the Valkyries in 2018, which were incredible and I looked forward to immensely. Even the fight against Gna just feel tedious and unwelcome, something thrown at you just because. I hated it.

The Norse saga deserved a better sendoff than it got. And for all my complaints, God Of War: Ragnarok isn't a bad game. It just couldn't follow up 2018's act and ultimately is just average--which coming off of 2018 has a chilling effect over the entire experience.

Not going to bother addressing the other IPs you mentioned.

SSM has been making the same game for nearly 20 years. If GOW reboot didn't exist, you'd be playing something else from SSM. Probably something more interesting than a stale IP focused on a character/gameplay that was so one-note that they had to completely alter it because the IP had been run into the ground.

The other IPs I mentioned are some of the most successful games and IP ever for their companies, like GoW as IP, and particularly GoW 2018 and GoWR as games, are to SIE and SSM.

Yes, SSM has been making in the same IP for a lot of years, like most of the other teams I mentioned, some even longer. That won't make Rockstar kill GTA or Nintendo kill Mario. Or Sony kill GoW or GT etc. That would be total nonsense.

SSM tried to make a new IP in the PS3 times but back then it got cancelled. SSM is now also working in a new IP in addition to GoW, they grew a lot during Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst times. No need to kill GoW to get other stuff from SSM.

It has a 94 MC and broke sales records, which means it's a great game that appealed to a ton of people.

The opinion of a few hyperbolic passionate hardcore fanboys in a gaming forum isn't representative of the opinion of the over a dozen million people who played it.

I get that. At least if this is something you have to actually cross. Otherwise it's just there to limit your traversal range, like in almost ever game where you're not supposed to go somewhere else entirely. They need to have boundaries. If it's something you have to cross, though, like finding a switch... I don't know. It's a little bit off-putting and requires a different kind of suspension of disbelief. I mean, they could have just made it a stone wall or at the very least heavy iron instead of... wood.

But there's a general "issue" with fantasy games where magic exists... only for the story's convenience, or the gameplay's. In GoW you beat Baldur like a thousand times and his bones should be shattered to pieces. And how'd you kill him? By breaking his fucking neck. Oh, now THAT works, huh? Because his neck bones somehow work differently than his other bones? Knowing this could have saved Kratos a lot of trouble. If hitting someone with a fucking tree won't kill him, I expect the finish to be fucking epic like tearing all his limbs apart or use a magical weapon that does exactly that.

I guess the idea being you're some big deal at a festival with other drivers. I don't really pay attention to it. The only times you really see your driver is during little cut scenes before and after races, or in the vehicle driving.
