Pretty much any meme that devolves into spouting some phrase or word with no rhyme or reason. Dicks Out For Harambe and Triggered are the biggest offenders of being lazy memes that stop being funny once you've heard it more than once. Hell, the whole Triggered meme was never funny to begin with, as is anything spawned from MRAs.
"Pupper" and "doggo" make browsing imgur infuriating. Harambe is also grating, mostly because it was never clever or funny but got a resurgence months later.
This is probably gonna sound dumb to people that aren't a fan of the franchise (and maybe even people who are), but the whole "Gotta go fast!" and "Sanic" memes are annoying because they undermine the franchise.
Some people seem to be blissfully unaware of it, but some of the best platformers ever made came from the Sonic franchise. Sure, there are some truly awful titles as well, but none of that should discredit those amazing ones. It's painfully ignorant. Are we going to start trashing on Mega Man X1 just because X6 and X7 were terrible products? That wouldn't make any sense.
Even the Official Sonic social media accounts use these tired memes as some desperate attempt to stay cool with the kids. It's sad that the series is now mostly known for it's failings.

I really wanted to turn Deej from Bungie into a meme for a while. Especially after Bungie got caught flat out lying to us several times over a 4 month period.

Yeah, it's a shame. I blame Sega for not further refining the Adventure series, but I understand how someone who's a fan of their more recent output would find it frustrating.
It's sort of reference humor, but it's also a derivative of the ye olde "when you see it" meme, which itself is just the fundamental comedic approach of subverting one's expectations.
So I was listening to The Sound of Silence and I realized the song is actually flames but that most people will never know because the intro has basically become a meme now
I'm pretty sure there's other shit people think shouldn't have become a meme.
What are some other things that you wish didn't become a meme GAF?
People, including late night comedians on national TV, felt like they had carte blanche to shame this guy for his fetishes all because we decided we liked his sweater.
Would using bitmoji be considered a meme? Because I hate them.
The reason you use an emoji is to express your feelings through a picture. With an emoji, the communication is instant. But, with bitmoji its just a cartoon of someone people think looks like themselves, saying what you normally could have typed...without the stupid picture. It completely goes against the purpose of the emoji which is to not have to read words but to get a fuller understanding of one's emotional state based on the text message you just received. Bitmojis piss me off. I should not have to read your emotion. It should be immediatley explained based on a simple picture.
