Rap is crap >.<
Indeed it is. And honestly, I can't disagree with Bill.
He used to be a teacher in Florida so he probably knows far more than you think.
Chris Hayes take on it.

Bill is full of crap.
Bill is a moron but he has a point about black culture. It's fucking ridiculous that gangster culture was shoved down Americas throat. MTV decided that glorifying bullshit like ODB was a good move instead of a positive black role model. I mean, seriously, it's irresponsible to do so when you know kids are watching. However, there are horrible white influences as well, and I don't believe popular media is at fault for why blacks are in the position they are in.
Lets be real and say why blacks are in the position they are in.
It's white people's fault.
We fucking brought over generations of blacks and owned them. White families made money hand over fist on the back of black labor. I don't think people understand how much money went to white people through slavery. I mean, fuck, think of a successful company and then imagine how successful they would be with no labor costs, or insurance costs or benefit costs. Just pure profit. That's what blacks gave to white families in the south.
Then slavery ended. Guess what happened. Whites shared all that money that was earned with blacks because it was the right thing to do. Well, no. That's not what happened at all. Blacks had to start from ground zero. A whole race of people started with zero money. That's why blacks are where they are right now. When you have no money you have no status, and that goes for blacks and whites. It's almost impossible to move up in social classes. Blacks didn't have the advantage of "old money" that so many white families had. As a white kid, my parents and I started out poor, and were propped up with my grandparents help. My grandparents were propped up by their parents and so on. How many black lives could have been changed if all that wealth the blacks brought to slave owners had been spread to them after slavery ended.
This is why I don't think reparations are ridiculous. It will never happen, but it should.
Who do you think MTV was selling this image to? Poor black kids? Rich white kids? Which of the two would make more sense?

How.is.that.possible?
Not really. I'd say what is far more indicative of the current situation is the White flight to the suburbs.
After World War 2, African-Americans, who for the most part lived in rural areas before the war, migrated to the cities en masse. Unfortunately this was also at the time when Whites began moving to the suburbs, taking many of the jobs blacks were seeking, with them. Even worse, a lot of the urban development projects that would have helped the newly migrated blacks failed.
Hence Inner-city poverty zones.
Whites moved to the suburbs because they could afford to. Whites took jobs because whites had old money paying for college educations that blacks couldn't afford. Blacks stayed in inner city projects because its what they could afford. It all boils down to money and the advantages it brings.
Pretty sure whites moved to the suburbs because they wanted to get away from black people.Whites moved to the suburbs because they could afford to. Whites took jobs because whites had old money paying for college educations that blacks couldn't afford. Blacks stayed in inner city projects because its what they could afford. It all boils down to money and the advantages it brings.
You don't even have to say that cause its true.IMO.

o'reilly been bigoted for a minute, and preaches to a choir notorious for lacking perspective. these are the same people forwarding 2004 bill cosby rants like SEE ITS ALL THEM, NOT MY PRIVILEGE reductive type shit
two ignorant juniors dismiss an entire genre out of pocket, likely based on a perception from a handful of radio joints they were exposed to, cool to see in 2013
as an FL resident this isn't a feather in his cap
You're just as bad as they are by pretending you're superior for not being a Junior. That shit is pretentious as fuck and annoying. I don't get why people do this.
No, but white people had all of the money after slavery ended. Whoever has the money, has control.
Lets play a game. I say two words, you tell me what you see in your head.
Trust fund.
yes, but you do realize a lot more white people immigrated over after slavery ended right?
Did you forget the Irish, Polish, and German immigration of the early 1900s?
Trust fund? I see sons and daughters of celebrities and sport players
I remember watching a documentary on the failure of housing projects a while back. One of the major points was that in order to live in the projects, Housing Authority wouldn't let husbands live with their families for some reason or another.
I wonder if that has effected the current situation
He's certainly right about the destruction of the black family, but then he dismisses education, ready access to guns, and poverty as if they have nothing to do with any of this. If only black girls would stop fucking and the black kids would wear uniforms at school, everything would be fine!
Who's going to pay for the uniforms.

It would be nice if people would be as upset and rally for the all the youths killed in Chicago any given weekend. But I guess since that's just black people killing other black people it isn't as interesting a narrative.

Please stop with this false equivalency fuck shit.
Most of the people who say this dumb shit don't give a single damn about crime in black communities until a black person's death makes national headlines.

So you don't think it's an interesting observation? We had thousands of people marching for the injustice brought against Trayvon Martin.
When was the last time we had thousands march around the country for the injustices brought against the black youths killed in inner cities every single day. I live near Chicago. I see it on the local news EVERY SINGLE DAY.
That is making the rounds. Has GAF discussed this yet?

This is O'Reilly's talking points response to Obama's commentary on the Trayvon Martin verdict. My entire family passed this around today claiming how "on-point" it is and how they are happy someone had the balls to say how things really are. Basically O'Reilly calls out the black community for having too many kids, listening to too much rap music and how all this has contributed to the degeneration of the black family and no black leaders are willing to own up to it. I found the commentary incredibly simplistic and reductive but it seems to have resonated with a lot of white people I know personally.
