This is how my Amazon shipped PS5 arrived

Meant to post this earlier but I was too enthralled with actually playing games...I pre-ordered the PS5back on Sept 16th in the middle of the night when the direct to cart links for Amazon started appearing on forums/twitter. I managed to secure a system, controller, charging station, and headphones all that night. Like many, I watched my order status go without updates for ages, until finally a week before shipping I got the launch day shipping update.

Day of launch I was refreshing my tracking page on UPS constantly. We had pretty heavy rain that week so I was worried about the water, so I even went into the UPS site and added a note to deliver the box to my covered side porch. The day was long, but late in the evening around 7pm my front doorbell rang. By the time I got to the door, the delivery guy had already ran back to his black SUV. and on my front door in the pouring rain was this box....

The entire bottom half of the box was drenched like it had sat in a puddle. If the SUV had not peeled out I probably would have killed them. The range of emotions was real. Somehow, after peeling away the floppy cardboard, the PS5 box inside was merely slightly damp. and the box inside the box was completely dry. My PS5 booted fine, and all was well. No issues since then, but goddamn man. I can't imagine the return process or replacement process would have been speedy or fun. Next launch I will probably opt for a big box store.

**Edit** Complained to Amazon and they refunded 10% of the order cost which came out to $53

I'd still talk to Amazon. They may give you some credit. That is crap.

Is this eligible for an ESPY award? Greatest accomplishment of the year or something?

Get Geoff Keighley on the line, let’s do something similar for TGA.

Report it to Amazon right away, even if it works. Should something happen down the line you're better off having this on record.

I'm not sure how it works in US, but let's say that your console was actually water damaged or took a hard fall. Can the seller simply say that it's your own fault?

You didn't even sign the delivery to ensure that the box was delivered in good condition.

In my country we have to sign deliveries. If they would deliver the package in such a bad condition, I would have taken a picture of the box and refuse signature.

Congrats on the PS5... I think.

Seeing many of these, and reports of amazon delivery stealing consoles out the box..

wheewww glad it's working....I am NEVER using Amazon again, not only did they e-mail me on the eve of the launch that I won't be getting either of the consoles on the day of, but they also canceled my orders, both ps5 and xsx....i got my hands on xsx but ps5, forget it, so yeah, I deleted the amazon account, it will probably save me a few bucks, I must have spent tens of thousands $ there, fuck Bezos. (their customer service is pure shit)

I find it strange how in some countries (including USA) you can have your package delivered without your actual signature. You're just asking for trouble in case your package gets damaged or stolen.

I've been doing that for over 30 years and not once a problem. No need to knock on wood either.

Amazon seems to have dropped the ball in general with delivery lately. I order a lot of vinyl records and typically they come in a nice box. Lately, they've showed up in a sleeve package with no protection with bent corners. I sent it back for a new one and received it the same exact way. I'm seeing other people complaining about their packaging lately too

I didn't know that. Here in my country we have to sign or else we don't get our shit. Some companies even ask for your ID.

You received UPS' ambassador package service. That's where you at least get something. They went the extra mile for you and didn't drop it out of the back of their truck on the freeway.

UPS is just the worst.

are we all acting shocked that delivery people don't give a fuck how your package arrives?

they are on shitty money and tight schedules. they don't give a fuck about babying your product bought my mummy + daddys money. they are out working their ass off while you sit at home waiting to play video games.

They probably ran out of Amazon boxes in the PS5 size, so had to adapt.

Just one more reason to avoid console launches.

You think big box stores are any different? I ordered from Walmart. For 3 weeks they said my console wont come till december end. Then on launch day I hear a knock on my door. I open the door, no delivery guy, just a big box in front of the door, covered in tape. I open it to find a PS5. No tracking info, no udpates, just here;s a box. No signature needed either.

My friend who ordered from best buy didn't even arrive till this week. The box all scuffed and mangled. These delivery people are a holes. That's all that there's to it.

Companies have outsourced delivery from USPS/UPS/FedEx to the sorts who can’t pass the Uber background check.
