WTF are you talking about? You're dismissing Technique outright because he's willing to have discussions with Alex Jones? Are you that daft?

Yeah, it's not like he praised Alex Jones and agreed with him numerous times in the interview. You act like they were having some grand debate.

They were mostly circle jerking about their conspiracy theories for an hour.

Azealia Banks is already bringing intelligence back to hip hop. For one, she isn't homophobic or misogynistic.

Look at her lyrics, too.

Oh, la la la
Flirting with a cool French dude named Antoine
Wanna taste the pastry chocolate croissant
Ce soir with your bitch, cafe au lait
Voulez-vous nigga mad Francois
Who are you nigga, hahaha
Miss one, miss young, miss cutie pie
Young noobie, young coochy tight
Young juicy, young Uzi-mic
Rata-tat-tat-tat
Nick-nack pitty-pat-pat-pat
Silly cat, you know how that scratch
How you do that, do that, do do that that that

Properly brilliant. You can buy her latest single here.

Actually, there's plenty of great current rappers spreading knowledge. Not many of them rapping in English, though.

my eyes are rolling into the back of my skull.

Wow, people are ignorant here. Technique is not a truther, having a civil conversation with someone isn't a "circle jerk" and it doesn't mean you align fully with that person's perspectives.

This guy has done quantifiably more for real social justice in this world than anything the keyboard monkeys in this thread dismissing him nonsensically have.

Whatever, fuck this thread.

*edit*

And FUCK yeah, I'm salty. No one's perfect, but this dude is legit in his advocation for social justice and the evidence is there for people to see - building schools in the Middle East and aiding in Haiti's earthquake recovery for starters. This is the LAST person in the hiphop community that should be dismissed summarily on these nonsensical grounds. We need MORE people like Technique in hiphop.

Lol the salt. Having a conversation with a crazy person isn't productive.

I'm pretty sure she called Perez Hiltom a homophobic slur in rant a couple of months back.

Trust me on this one. There's plenty of good rappers rapping in english, but being fluent in 4 languages has taught me that nowadays Europe>USA when it comes to delivering on meaningful lyrics. There is almost no chance for financial success, so most players are actually in it because they genuinely love it. And it fucking shows.

Yeah, American rappers hate rapping.

she didn't mean it as a gay slur

she meant it as a way to call him a weak bitch, or something like that

She turned it into a weak ass South Park "it doesn't mean gay!" argument when it was plain as day what she meant. Same as when she called Baauer one too.

Like I have nothing against coarse language in the hip hop community really, but understand what your words mean or shut the hell up. Don't hide behind bullshit and pretend no one could possibly be offended.

Who called Technique a truther? Being a conspiracy theorist doesn't automatically mean you're a truther. He spent an hour talking nonsense about the New World Order with a certifiably insane jackass.

But keep getting salty defending the clown.

Fine. Be an asshole.

It's really cool that you listen to rap in several languages (I do too, although I have to look up translations typically) but acting as if the American scene is by and large without people who "genuinely enjoy" rapping is just condescending.

American rap has tons of things to say about race, class, gender, politics, and other relevant issues and it'd be ignorant to suggest otherwise.

We need more of that in rap, to be sure. Only intellectuals understand the difference between his homophobic slurs and threats of violence and the same from other, English (re: inferior) speaking rappers.

How the hell is he ass? Oo Revolutionary Vol. 2 is consistently considered one of the best albums in modern hip hop (not to mention that RYM score). He ain't perfect, but the dude's far from ass.

Is it annoying to no one else that a traditionally black genre of music gets hit with all these complaints, and then Macklemore gets singled out as the great savior of the genre?

C'mon.

You c'mon. Don't make this into a race thing.
I love nearly all "traditionally black" genres of music. R&B, soul, and of course, jazz. From The Roots to Miles Davis I'm there any day of the week.

Unfortunately, hip hop lost me when nearly every figure representing it is not someone I would ever want to associate with. I'm sure there are great indie artists out there, but they're fighting an uphill battle against a genre that's represented by the likes of Lil Wayne.

~Devil Trigger~

Im just waiting for GZA's Dark Matter

I agree with Technique on some things, don't on others, I don't see how that's a reason to completely dismiss somebody...

I love Hip Hop period, Im an Atheist how's an absolute fan of Killah Priest who rhymes about religious themes all the time, but he's a fucking ill MC, creative as hell, have all his albums.

I don't pimp but I love Do or Die

I don't shoot people but I'll never skip an M.O.P. song,

I dont enjoy gore and "darkness" much but I love Non-Phixion n Necro(on of my fav albums ever), and Tech-N9ne

etc etc..etc

its not the message that makes good music, its how its delivered

You're not getting my point. The ratio of bullshit to quality rap in the USA is alot worse than overseas. Nobody's trying to get rich fast over there, because their sound rarely sells, and bad rappers just don't survive in the underground. That's all I'm saying.

I never said anything that could lead you to think I disregard the entirety of US hip hop. I don't. To this day, there's been a constant and consistent supply of great HH coming from the US at any given point in time since the genre's birth.

Immortal Technique...Never knew why this dude always gets cred from people who act like they listen to the real intellectual underground hip hop, when really he's just an average artist who thinks he knows more than everyone else.

I like Revolutionary vol.2 but I don't think it's the best anything.

Neither do I. But I constantly see it in "Best hip hop albums" lists. Heck, that's what led me to listen to it in the first place!

Considered by who? Internet hip hop conspiracy nerds? Fact is, at his best, his flow is mediocre.

Well, a 3.8 rating on RYM says... alot of people, I guess? Plus, check what I said above. I see it listed all the time. I ain't saying the dude's a god, but he certainly ain't ass either.

I agree. His flow is average at best. But flow is only 1 third of what makes a good hip hop song. He has awesome lyrics and enjoyable production, and that's quite enough for me.

Did Biggie's average lyrics stop you from enjoying his incredible flow?

I get exactly what you're saying, and I think it's really silly. You're acting as if there's no money-bitches-bling rap overseas, which is patently false.
