This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Okay GAF i don't think this warrants a thread or not but here it goes. Okay here's my situation I currently own the PS3 and 360 and contemplating on building a gaming PC because I want to play Steam games,Valve games, Dice games like BF3 (last time I had one was 2004) and I also want to get in on good Steam deals as well. My problem is that I feel that I have invested too much into console gaming and that I can't go back and my worries are that keeping up with various game will get hectic and confusing (not knowing which version to get based on graphics, friends, online capabilities, and port quality) and that I'll have too many machines to deal with (also planning on purchasing a 3DS day one). But then again I really want to play BF3,Portal 2(refuse to play it console), and other PC centric titles. So what say you GAF should I build this PC already (to be part of the console and master race) or should I just ride out this console generation with technologies such as Kinect (looks like pretty cool technology)???

-Forgot to mention that I only have two friends on Steam (willing to meet new people through GAF) and that my other friends have XBL, but I play with them for a few times and not too many.

-Also an example of the getting confused part would be for games such as AC:B coming out earlier on consoles and months later on PC or Rockstar releasing Red Dead only consoles for the time being. Also other things such as shoddy ports, small community, or lackluster online(heard some complaints about Borderlands using Gamespy). The other problem would be that I would have too many games too play b/c of the exclusives coming out for 3ds,ps3, and 360.

-Sorry if this post is too long, it's just something that's been bugging me lately.

Just build the PC, totally worth it.

What is this latest system update for the PS3 do? Goddamn it's taking forever and I'd like there to be at least one good thing coming out of it for me.

How long is GTA IV? RDR is the only Rockstar game I've ever completed, is it similar in length? Why is this game so boring.

Also, Is Gay Tony and Lost and the Damned related story wise? I guess I should play Gay Tony last?

Is there a thread where people have discussed ideas for next-gen console names? If not, is this a stupid thread idea?

The latest update is version 3.55 and it's only a security patch.

I don't believe there is one, but it sounds like a decent idea for a new thread.

I just started getting into Battlefield Bad Company 2's multiplayer. Is it fair to say new players are pretty fucked if a server is populated with people who have had almost a year to unlock everything?

Is it possible to disable PS3 from being turn on by controller?

I can't seem to find the function on the console =/
You don't want pressing the PS button to turn the console on? I don't believe it's possible to prevent that, not sure why that'd be a desirable option, but it's odd it's not there.

Ok, so. Thinking about buying one of the Mario Galaxy games. Heard that 2 is superior in every way. My only fear is that if I buy 2, it will be hard to go back and play 1. Is this true?

That question implies you will buy both, so play them in order.

Mario Galaxy 2 is basically more of Mario Galaxy 1 which isn't a bad thing at all since Mario Galaxy is one of those games that doesn't get old. Playing one won't ruin the other for you. Though Galaxy 2 is a bit harder than 1 so you might want to start with 1.

What was the December 12th exclusive Sony reveal that everyone was talking about all this month?

People tend to disagree with me on this point but I recommend getting 2 first and if you really want more get 1 too. But if ur getting both period, then yeah play in order but know that 2 is so much better apart from not originating a couple of the awesome songs that are reused. But visually and graphically they are more or less equal so that isn't an issue.

I know you can in Condemned and Penny Arcade. And I think plenty of characters in Fallout could be considered hobos, so I'd go with Alpha Protocol.

I'm building up a Steam wishlist of games that I'll be buying for my upcoming PC, but I have a question.

They have 3 S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games listed. Clear Sky, Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Prpyat.
Which is the best, or which one should I start with?

About how big is a LittleBigPlanet level to download? My bandwidth cap is quickly approaching and I'm in the mood to play some LBP. :P

Very small, a couple of MB, they load basically instantly.

You have all the assets locally so it's just the arrangement.

Think I'll fire it up and see what the community has been up to in the past million years.

I got a Steam download code for Mafia II, but I'm also getting a new computer in January. If I use my code now to install the game on my current computer, will I later be able to transfer or re-download the game to my new comp? Or should I just wait until I get my new comp?

The wonders of Steam - Download Steam on the new computer, log into your account, and you can download any previously bought games on Steam.

what is the name of the horse flash game where it's like a stick figure horse that you control it's legs to run? it's kind of like that qwop game. There is also a gif out there of the horse falling and looking ridiculous.

Does the Wii Zapper actually work? I own and play Dead Space: Extraction and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, so I'm wondering if my aim will benefit from it.

I find it a lot easier to aim just by pointing the wiimote without the zapper.

I need a way to steady my aim. I tried using both hands with the remote, but it's not exactly comfortable or too effective. Getting headshots in The Umbrella Chronicles is a pain. -_-

With the lock-on feature with Sonic & Knuckles, does something happen when you lock on another cartridge of Sonic & Knuckles? And is it possible to lock on the 32X? If so, do 32X games also have blue sphere bonus levels?

So I currently have a 37" 720p Samsung LCD and my brother is going to give me his 40" 1080p Samsung LCD(This one to be exact). I'm kind of in the dark when it comes to all the resolution talk so will my console games(360S and PS3) hooked up via HDMI look like shit since there are no games that support 1080p?

They won't look like shit, depending on what you consider poor visuals. There are very few games that render at native 1080p.

720P upscales very nicely to 1080P, whether your TV is doing the scaling, or the console.

And yes, a few games do render in 1080P.

1080P is definitely a step up. No worries.

I've never bought anything on PSN before. If I buy WipeOut Fury through my account, but download it onto a friend's PS3, will I later be able to access it on my own PS3 via my account? The answer should be yes but I just want to make sure.

I just got the GTA4 expansions from gamefly, and I vaguely remember GTA4 being one of the games that ran worse when installed. Confirm?
