This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Not entirely sure, (I'm probably wrong) but the fat PS3's may have potential problems running stuff like The Last of Us.
It should work fine as long as you keep the unit well ventilated. Some people lost their consoles to overheating when playing games pushing the machine to its limits.

Am I insane considering how soon it is until the PS4 is released?
Not at all. There are dozens of great PS3 games and currently not a single game for the PS4. It's a very sensible decision.

Why did Japan screw us over with Castlevania 3 Dracula's Curse? No VCR6 for music, and dying at Dracula will start you all the way at the beginning of the stage. Why did Grant DaNasty have a shitty knife in the US version, instead of the cool throwing knife in the Famicom one? Why, why, why.

are these mico adapters compatible with the 3DS?

My mouse is starting to die (scroll wheel stutters, pointer stutters). Tried to clean it out but it's just no good. Could someone suggest a good wired optical mouse that would be good for gaming? Extra buttons aren't really necessary; just something durable, accurate, and comfortable. Preferably with a scroll wheel that scrolls in steps, of course. Not too expensive, too!

If you're looking for something good and cheap, I'd suggest the Logitech M-BT83. I think I bought it for less than €10 a couple of years ago and it works great and feels very durable. I don't play games all that much with it, but it seems to work pretty great whenever I do.

Playing Wind Waker HD has got me thinking - I recall hearing back in the day that Nintendo made changes to the western, GameCube release of the Wind Waker to make the Triforce hunt at the end less terrible.

Well, it was still pretty fucking bad. How exactly did it work in the original Japanese version?

What do you mean with migrate? You can log in with the same account, but you're not going to be able to transfer e.g. PS3 games to a PS4.

Migrate as in I don't have to make a new PSN account for PS4 and that I can use my own PSN account (Which I made in PS3) in the PS4 system.

But really, that answers my question. Thanks.

At the moment you can have your account activated on 2 PS3 and 2 PSP/PSV systems. I'm not sure what the PS4 limit is going to be, but I suspect they'll allow another two activations.

Will different profiles on a PS4 be able to access the PS+ features? In the ideal situation, I'd have one single PS4 hooked up to my main TV and a PS Vita TV in the kids' room. My son could have his own profile with his own friends and play PS4 PS+ games on the Vita TV.

Need some help doing a 3DS system transfer.

I have data on both systems, will the data from the source system overwrite the data from the target system? What I wanted was for the data from both systems to be combined on one SD card.

Data going to the target 3DS takes over that 3DS entirely: nothing that was there is left.
The 3DS that sent the data is reset to factory settings.

You cannot merge data on the 3DS, unfortunately.

I'll look into this one.

Anyone have any other suggestions? Just looking for a comfortable and durable mouse...

How is Live-A-Live pronounced? I say it as "Live-Alive" because that sounds really cool, but I've never been sure if that's correct.

The Japanese ライブ・ア・ライブ translates to Live A Live, but if you remove the ・'s and use spaces it translates to Live Alive. Live and Alive are the same word in Japanese, it seems that Live-A-Live has the A to make sure it was read as Live Alive rather than Live Live as a translation to English. Even In Enlgish both mean the same when put as 'I live' and 'I am alive' they both mean something or someone is living.

My feeling is that it is meant to sound as though you are saying Live Alive, even if you say Live A-live as in 'I live, this is a live show'

To clarify as sound, not syllables. le-ive ah-lyve

QUESTION!

a few months after mega man 9 came out i recall someone ( i think inafune?) saying that theres a secret in the game that noone had discovered and no one will for years...

I'm wondering if that secret has come out yet and what it was.... i feel like i never heard anything about it.

Are Darksiders and Darksiders II good games?

I enjoy hack n slash games like Bayonetta, DMC, and God of War. I hate the backtracking of the DMC series, however.

They're quite backtrack heavy in a 3D Zelda/OoT sense. You have a big open area with dungeons basically, and you can fast travel to locations you've been to previously through select points on the first game, and I think just using the map on the second. There'll be some backtracking through a dungeon, such as unlocking a door you passed earlier and whatnot, but it's nowhere near as bad as DMC, mostly because it takes place in a multitude of areas, and it doesn't waste like 2 or 3 missions sending you off on a quest what basically results in you opening a door that's where you start off from like the DMC games sometimes do.

But yeah, they're both good games. Darksiders' combat is a little bit simple; you have combos you can buy, but most enemies will be able to be killed by a command prompt once you've hit them enough times, and the bosses sometimes rely mostly on using the 'item of the day' from the dungeon that you've been using that item. Number 2 improved to combat to more of a hack n' slash style, and also added a loot system like Diablo and other RPGs.

I enjoyed Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS. What are the odds of me enjoying Dead Space and similar games? Are they any good?

Nope, still hasn't been discovered. It's quite ridiculous.
Here's a link to a Pop Fiction episode where they try to find it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHMTFM3zxWE . Just be careful though, you might get addicted to the whole series like I did (Pop Fiction is a show where these guys try to see if gaming myths are true or not).

Taken from the NEO Geo X Gold Portable Thread, my question is:

I've read that the Neogeo X arcade stick can be plugged into a PS3 and PC. Does anyone know if the Neogeo X arcade stick is compatible with the PS2 or any other console with a USB port?

Oh, do you guys think I should play Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the PS Vita before Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (as it is the first game chronologically) or play it in release order?

so i just opened my origin after a long time to download battlefeild 1942 and there are no games under my humble origin bundle. Some nice dude gifted those games to me :(

What should i do reinstalling origin and deleting cache didn't helped
Contact the support and tell them the keys and which games are gone. They can add them manually.

Doesn't really matter. There is no over-arching story. It's more like a separate side story that just happens before.
Personally, if you start with the whole series and want to play all games, I would start with the Vita game. The PS3 games fit more together with some of the same characters recurring in the games.

Fortune first, as it is the introduction to the characters, if you care about the story. Though all the UC games follow the same tropes and formula so they are pretty interchangeable.

Can someone tell me does Parasite Eve II (particularly PAL version) have subtitle? Like The 3rd Birthday, cutscene and in-game, both have subtitles.

So my wife has pretty much beaten pokemon black (using my white too) and I am wondering what else to have her play...

She has the mario DSI XL

Was thinking of making a thread, but does anyone think the U.S. government shutdown and furloughs will have negative impact on next gen console sales next month?

I was lucky where as my job wasn't disrupted, but I do have family and friends who now must focus on other priorities besides gaming.

Can anyone tell me if the Wii U power adapters are universal? Specifically, I want to use an Australian Wii U (230V) in Japan (100V).

Long story short, I haven't had my PS3 for two months. It's been in storage. However I've been playing my girlfriend's PS3 in the meantime. I started a new Dark Souls character and I'm liking him.

Can I copy the saved character to USB to transfer to my own PS3 at a later date? The copy feature in the XMB is only letting me copy it to her non-existent PS+ account.

Really don't want to lose this character. :(

The easiest solution is asking your girlfriend to move in with you so you can continue to play on her system, or simply swap systems.

Already done. :p

It just sucks that the character is locked to her account. :/

Think I'll just jot down the stats and do a rebuild when I get my ps3 back.

I know the save files for Demon's Souls were locked to a specific account and they could only be transfered via the PS+ cloud or the transfer system backup feature. It's probably the same with the saves for Dark Souls.

For some reason this thread title reminds me of that DS9 episode where the "challenged" patients from a Starfleet mental health ward escaped and came all the way unhindered to DS9 in fake high up Starfleet uniforms. Dr. Basheer asked how did they get this far, and the one guy says "every time someone asked me a question I just said 'that's a stupid question!!' ... " And the inquirer would amusingly back off due to the high up Starfleet ranking!!

Here's a dumb question: I'm looking into getting a 360 once I get some of my current backlog cleared up. There are a few games I'd like to get off of the Online Store (Market, Arcade, whatever they call it ~ their version of the PSN store). However, do I need to purchase LIVE to access the store, or is that the only thing that isn't behind a paywall? Also, can you connect via wi-fi?

No nintendo DSI game suggestions for my wife?

Dragon Quest IX.

*edit* Duh, IV, V, and VI as well. V is now my favorite, especially playing through a second time and choosing Deborah.

Xbox slims have wifi built into them, so yes you can connect through that. I believe you can purchase and download content without a Gold subscription, but the prices are so much cheaper for Gold members that it pays for itself after 2 or 3 games.

Well, I really like the following DS games.
• 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors - A visual novel with some puzzles.
• Advance Wars: Dark Conflict - A war strategy game.
• Dragon Quest 4,5,6 - Remakes of the classic SNES RPGs. They are a bit faster than the original games.
• Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - A DQ spin-off where you fight with enormous tanks.
• Etrian Odyssey 1,2,3 - Hardcore first-person dungeon crawlers.
• Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light - The best FF spin-off in years.
• Inazuma Eleven - Football (soccer) RPG with neat touch controls.
• Infinite Space - Cool space JRPG.
• Professor Layton and the Curious Village - A puzzle game.
• Radiant Historia - RPG with time travel and an innovative combat system.
• Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor - A MegaTen SRPG.

If you want to know more about any game you could check out their official threads here on the board.

Why is kidnapping not a big deal in video games? I get that sex is touchy in America and intense violence every else, but kidnapping is a-ok everywhere. So much so that it's in kids games, Bowser constantly kidnaps Peach, Grunty kidnaps Banjo's sister...what's up with that?

Interesting question. I think it's partially because its just a plot device. Also it's not teaching player that its ok or the right thing to do, kidnapping is nearly always shown as being bad and usually is resolved by you the hero rescuing them.

Kidnapping in games is also usually just putting a person behind bars/in a different place, it doesn't often have the connotations of torture, rape or mental abuse that kidnapping stories in the news have.

I think your question would make a good thread for discussion, you are a junior member however =/ I could create a thread about it if you wanted?

Kidnapping being a well-worn story trope is the thing that makes it the most acceptable. The damsel in distress is such a classic story that no one bats an eye. Of course there's now starting to be some pushback on the constant use of that trope and what it means for female representation in games.

I'm gonna sell my OG 3DS to a friend (don't hit me) but I'm wondering what precautions I need to take with my online accounts etc. And will my friend be able to use my ambassador games if I wipe the machine of my account? I assume no, but how do I go about doing this for starters? :)

Guys, I need your help.

My PS3 controller is acting all wonky right now.

Sometimes it repeatedly presses the "X" button, sometimes square. This controller is only a little over two years old and has not been abused.

This is something that happens only sometimes, other times it's fine.

My question is this. Is there likely something messed up with the controller, or could it be bluetooth misbehaving?
