This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I've been trashing snes games. Boxed or not, instructions, phanflets... even those Chrono trigger and Final Fantasy III cartridges are in a bag going to the recycle point, and I have another box full of PS2/PS3/360 games ready to throw away the next day.

Should I feel guilty? I don't want money for them. I've tried to give them away, but it's always the same answer "I don't have space, I don't have time, I'm sure you can sell them, shipping is too expensive". I don't the time or interest to start putting ebay sales, shops won't accept them second hand if they happen to be UK versions (or anything older than PS3/360), and since I will only get store credit for them to spend on more games, it's not even worth it (I hate videogames).

Those just happen to be your priorities. There's a giveaway thread, maybe they have some ideas. Something something free to a good home is what it's called.
Is it Ninja Gay-den or Ninja Guy-den?
Guy-den.

Some mom and pop retro shops will give you straight cash for old games, especially if it's something like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III where they can easily flip a sale on it. That, or you can also try selling them to pawn shops.

Have you tried here?

www.chilloutgames.co.uk

They'll probably buy them.

Just downloaded The Witcher 2 enhanced edition for my MAC and i am wondering if its possible to install the Nexus mods on the MAC version (the better texture and environment mod)?

This paragraph causes me actual physical pain.

Do the Wii and Wii U have the same plug for power?

Also, any differences between the sensor bars?

Basically I wanna know if I can bring the console and nothing else to a friend's house who has the Wii power/sensor cords and HDMI and be OK.

Power plug is different, but you can use a Wii sensor bar on a WiiU.

Sensor bar is safe.

The power bricks have different sizes, so I'd be vary to interchange them, even if they had the same plug. But on the other hand, it's Nintendo, so if it's the same plug… Nope, the sockets are actually mirrored.

Damn you, Jucksalbe!

So, I'm playing Dragon Quest III and just found the book that's supposed to allow you to clasd change into a sage. I'm trying to have my mage read it but nothing happens. Do you have to take it somewhere special for it to work. She is over level 20 which I thought was the threshold for being allowed to class change.

I'm playing the mobile version by the way.

You mean an NNID? As easy as it could be, I'd say. Register via the console, and confirm through the link in the email you entered. Log in with your personal data, and voila.

It's the flexibility - or rather the inflexibility - a lot of people are having issues with, but that's a discussion for another day.

I want to play a European only game on my Wii-U.

You have to go to Dharma Temple (or whatever it's called in the mobile version) to change classes.

The temple you go to to change to any other class? I tried doing that, but it wouldn't let me become a sage. Is there a specific NPC I need to talk to other than the guy you talk to for any other class change?

Never mind, I figured it out. You need to speak to the class change guy while having the book in the inventory of the character you wish to make into a sage.

Thanks!

Since the OT is too dangerous a place for me to be looking, is Dark Souls 3 an improvement over 2? How does it stack up to 1, if at all? No spoilers would be great, although saying something like 'the bosses have a lot more variety' is fine.

This wait for the 12th is excruciating. Not too long now though.

What is the graphical term for "enemies disappear after some time instead of remaing dead on the ground for the rest of the level"?

It doesn't have a general name really. There are a handful of games that let you change how long and how many will stay and they generally all give it a different general name like "number of corpses"

I've got a question about PS+ and the rights for free games. Specifically on my Vita.

So, after my year of PS+ runs out and I've resubscribed for another, the free games I have on my Vita seem to need to be opened at least once to "check" on my PS+ status to see if I'm allowed to use them.

So like, if I'm away from an internet connection and I want to play Gravity Rush which I got for free at one point, it won't work. But if I've opened it at least once and it's had a chance to check if I have permission to play it since resubscribing to PS+, then I'll be able to open it away from the internet for the next year.

Anyways, what I want to know is; is there a way to have my "rights" to use my PS+ games checked all at once? Otherwise I have to open each of my PS+ games one at a time while connected to the internet and that shit is tedious.

I'm thinking about building a gaming desktop this Summer, and I was wondering which GPU I should get. It looks like the 980 Ti is the best, but it's also like $600+. Will a 970 get me at generally maxed setting (1080p 40+ FPS) for most new games coming out. Will a 980? When would I have to update if I got a 970 or just a 980? Also, I've heard people say they use multiple titans. How is that done? And is two 970s better than one 980 ti?

There should be someone that will buy the whole lot. Check with auctions and pawn shops. This usually happens when someone passes away. Families sometimes just sell off a lot of their stuff.

I want a ps4, is there a recurring deal on a new or refurb unit I should look for?

You should wait for the PS4.5.

Theres no indication when the PS4K is coming or if it even will go into production. So unless you want to wait indefinitely, I'd jump on a refurbished PS4 for $299 right now. Probably won't be seeing many deals until around Black Friday, so I see no reason to wait longer if you know you want one now and can stomach the 300 bones.

I agree with the sentiment here, but it's not an indefinite wait. Unless he needs it ASAP, my suggestion would be wait until summer to see if there's an announcement at E3 for a PS4 version and then make a decision.

My girlfriend wants to buy the sims 3 but there are sooo many confusing versions. She wants the original, or as close to that as possible. Steam has a "the sims 3" but it's a bit unclear what it contains, while Origin has a "the sims 3 starter pack" seemingly with some expansions built-in?

What version, and where, is the one to get? Is the Steam version just an Origin key or something?

What happened to megaman battlenetwork and Yugioh games on handheld systems?

This one has been bugging me for a while, what is the difference between Ogre Battle and Tatics Ogre?

Mega man battle network and Starforce both legitimately finished if I remember right. Like they had their endings and everything (i know battle network did for sure). I thought the series was just considered done.

Ah okay

They are different games in the same series.

Thank you for the link so it seems that Tactics Ogre is more like a FFT style whereas Ogre Battle takes more of a strategy feel but both take place in the same universe.

So is it like Heroes of Might and Magic and the Might and Magic series where they are set in the same universe but are different in gameplay?

These similarly titled games confuse me, sorry.

Quantum Break preload on X1 question:

How do I know I preloaded the live action cutscenes pack? I don't want to stream them because of my shitty connection, and when I select the DLC on the store, it just tells me it's part of the Quantum Break bundle but I can't seem to actually start a download?

I cannot decide...please help...same price:

Philips E-line 273E3LHSB

ASUS VE278H

?

1 is 2ms and the other has hdmi, dvi and vga.

guys, i have had some weird issues with msi afterburner for a while now and it kinda annoys me now at this point. most of the times the on-screen display works perfectly, but sometimes it doesn't show at all. everything is set up accordingly, including the toggle hotkey.

is there a reason why it likes to do that to me? it's not a matter of hardware of software, because it works well in {enter random game} and then suddenly it doesn't show any more, only to be working perfectly again the next day. it's like it has a mind of its own.

the samsung one is 3ms, so that's not a lot of difference with 2ms from the asus one. also, i don't see how having asus' 2x hdmi would be very necessary compared the samsung's 1x. samsung is also less expensive.

however, according to the specs i see the asus one has a refresh rate of 75, but i can't see whether this is at 1080p or lower resolution. because if it's at 1080p natively, i'd go with the asus one. otherwise, i'd go for the samsung one and save the difference (which is €30 when i'm from)

Have modders/hackers discovered a way to stream PC games to the WiiU Gamepad ala Off-Tv Play?

Is this something that's even feasibly possible?

(Not just the display or inputs, but both)
