This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Not a stupid question at all, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

I'm in the market for an Xbox One and am gonna buy one off eBay. The Xbox 360 could be "kept alive" for a short amount of time before dying. The system would die and you would know it was on the verge of death and still keep it alive a short amount of time before it died for good. Is there anything like that for the Xbox One? I just don't want to buy a system off eBay, play it for a little bit then end up with a dead console from a seller with no return policy.

A question for people that have bought and have played:

Is the Mega Man Legacy Collection worth it yet? By that I mean have the sound issues been worked out and what system is this best on?

I'm a bit out of touch with Nintendo's current behaviour, so I will need a bit of help with this:

If Mother 3 finally came to the west, it would only be available as a gba title on Wii U, seeing how there haven't been more GBA on 3ds titles after the ambassador program ended?

Sound issues (on PS4) have only been partly fixed.
Can't really say much about the best system to play them on. On PS4 it still has those sound issues which can get very annoying and on 3DS Mega Man 5 has some awful slowdown issues. Haven't played any other versions.
But, if you don't own all the games in any other way already, I'd still say the collection is worth it.

If they release it as a VC title, yes. GBA VC is only available on WiiU.

Guys, all this Doom hype made me wanna replay The New Order, I thought it'd somehow not run like shit anymore, but yeah it runs like ass on my 280X, my CPU's barely making a sweat with how bad my GPU is doing with the game :/.

How do I get it to run less like shit? I've tried all the crazy fixes (apart from Run as Admin, don't see how that would help). The only helpful fix I found was to create a texture cache folder, which has improved loadtimes when you die tremendously. I've seen peeps with 380s run the game at a locked 60 and I fail to see how a 280X would be any different.

Can every user on the Xbox one use gold if I just buy it?

Its not made very clear...

Googled it and this is straight from their Xbox One FAQ:

At home with Xbox One

As an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, you can share the benefits of Xbox Live Gold with others while they’re using your Xbox One console in your home. Friends and family can simply create their own account and gamertag on the console, which gives them the ability to enjoy Xbox Live online multiplayer gaming.

Friends or family members with their own gamertags coming over to play? No problem. They can sign in and play online multiplayer games, even if you sign off.
so that's a yes.

PS4 question:

At some point I had a physical disc of Game A. Already played thru it so it was natural that 40gb-ish of game data + patch was installed on my PS4. After a while, the disc decided to broke. That's a problem since Game A is Witcher 3 and I need to play the latest expansion.

If I decided to get the digital copy through PS store this time (same region/same language version) do I need to download 40gb all over again, or will it let me play my already-installed game data without the disk since I would have acquired the license?

I just recently purchased a new laptop and I need to know how do I remove this N overlay from my games and MPC-HC?

I was gonna say this.. as someone with a 270X had the same problem but it seems that you've tried it.

Can anyone who owns Ocarina of Time in the Wii U's VC confirm if the game has sharper framerate this time around? At least locked?

Yeah, it's a good thing the game is as fun as it is and I'm luckily not encountering any microstutter at all, even if the framerate leaves a lot to be desired.

Is there anyway I can increase upload speeds on PS4.
I was on Wi-Fi, getting speeds of around 6-10mb download and 4mb upload, and last month I decided to use an Ethernet cable. This brought me to 90mb download, but my upload is still 4mb.

Is there anything I can do to increase it for share play, or is this solely based on my internet package?

WiFi and Ethernet are symmetric, so if there's different upload and download speed, it's either the PS4 or the internet connexion. There's no reason the PS4 would put a 4GB limit on the upload speed, so that's definitively the internet connexion that limit the upload here.

Right, thanks.
I was kinda confused, because I'm not super savvy about stuff like that, but I was expecting the upload to increase when I swapped to a wires connection. I'll have to check what my upload speed should actually be.
Every now and then it'll go to just over 5mb, so shareplay doesn't bring up the warning when you start it with a connection under that, but it does so very rarely.

Does leaving stuff plugged in and charging (DS3/4, Vita, Wii U gamepad) once they reach 100% do any long term damage to the battery?

For some reason I've always thought it does so always take them off charge the soon as I notice they're full

This probably is a really stupid question but I know nothing of the mechanics of gaming. Having said that, is there a term for the clarity* of graphics in Doom, particularly in movement? Is that what 60fps looks like? Or is it something else?

NOTE: I'm playing on XB1.

* the graphics in Uncharted 4 I'd say are better but it lacks the crispness and clarity thats in Doom. I'm not sure how to describe what I mean exactly but hopefully someone understands and can interpret.

You are explaining it. Clarity.

Depends on the device. I know Apple utilises trickle charging which lets the battery drain a little, too it back up to 100% without any adverse effects. Just be sure to always use the provided charger and not third party shit.

60fps gives you double the frames per second than 30 so you are getting more visual information for each second of motion and as such everything looks smoother and sharper in motion.

edit: it also makes the game feel faster and snappier to control when you're playing. High frame-rate rewards fast reflexes and quick gameplay.

Is there a reason for Warcraft II not being available on Battle.net for purchase or register? I can't buy it, and I can't register my retail key to obtain digital version in the same way as I did with Warcraft III, Starcraft and Diablo II.

Are there any easily available, EU exclusive games worth looking for?

I'm going to be travelling soon and thought it would be fun. I have all the consoles + handhelds from Nintendo and Sony, and a PC. I imagine the digital nature of PC means it's less relevant to the conversation. I'm a Zelda fan so I was thinking of tracking down Tingles Rosy Rupee Land, but would I have to make some sort of modifications to my device to play it? I know Nintendo isn't the friendliest when it comes to being region free.

From what I remember, the original was for DOS and the Battle.NET version had DRM that required a CD in the drive. They *could* do it, but are probably in no rush until people on message boards raise enough of a ruckus.

By exclusive you mean EU only? Or all games that were just not released in NA, but EU + JP
Another Code R for Wii
Kuru Kuru Kuririn for GBA
Firebugs for PS1. It's not brilliant or mind blowing, but I have fond memories of it.

Don't know how to run them, sorry. But the GBA should be region free.

Yeah, that was basically what I was after, games I can't get in NA.
Thanks for the suggestions, especially Another Code R. I had forgotten that it exists.

Rupeeland is region free. The only region-locked DS games are DSi exclusives.

When it comes to Nintendo consoles, I'm not sure any of those EU-only games are easy to find though. They're usually pretty niche so even here, they didn't get large prints (Also, DS and Wii games are old). You could try finding Jam with the Band and Last Window second-hand… JwtB had some online features that don't work anymore, but it's still pretty fun.

Apparently the Vita Ratchet & Clank Trilogy didn't get a physical release in NA, so there's that I guess.

Edit: There's also the Inazuma Eleven games, if you're willing to give them a try. Those are definitely easier to find (though you'd need homebrew for the Wii and 3DS episodes).

You find many used/second hand games on amazons marketplace or ebay. And it's usually a good indication of their value. But you need an adress.
With the price, it really depends on the game. Kuru Kuru Kuririn is super cheap for example, but Last Window costs way more.

Can someone explain to me why turning my overclock and High Performance Mode off made games run better on my PC? Oddly enough leaving TurboClock on makes things a tad smoother and even. The temps are fine regardless, rarely peaking above 60 when gaming and the fans are caught up to the generation of heat, regardless of overclock or not.

If you use a mixamp on ps4 do you need to change the ps4 audio settings? Specifically the audio format setting thats under audio output settings.

Edit: found my answer

What's the reason behind CDPR making the White Orchard sidequests fail when you advance to the next part of the story?

Why not allow the players to complete them later?

Suddenly remembered a game announced during E3 2014 (or 2013) starring a decapitated character that can use his head, I think it was from a Japanese editor, 3rd person view action game. Anyone remember this?

Earlier still I think, but sounds like Neverdead to me.

Ok...can't remember what this game was called:

The promo art (?) is an astronaut or general space suit helmet with a skull in it. I'm assuming it's upcoming and believe it's an Indie title?

That piece of art has me really interested to check out what's behind it but I can't for the life of me remember the title or anything now...

Kojima Productions and their new project?

No that's not it but I see how it implies that as well for sure.

This is some sort of Alien style astronaut suite with a skull in its helmet with (I think??) some sort of space environment in the background?

Thanks though.

Are you thinking of Laserlife? It came out late last year, but your description sounds similar.

Why is Uncharted 3 not considered to be a downgraded game? Everytime I see someone bring up that shot of Chloe in the bus from e3 2011 compared to the final game, its met with "here we go again", and "not this again". I don't know the reasoning, and I have been pretty scared of asking why.

Was it a time of day change?

Why isn't there a dodge button in FPS games?
This would make so much sense, particularly in games like BF.

I always thought it was kind of weird that you can just randomly jump while running. In BF so many palyers a jumping while running to dodge bullets. And if we're honest, no one in real life would jump across the battlefield.

It would be cool if the jump button would serve as a dodge button while running and it should take some seconds to charge, i.e. after your head goes up again and you are in the initial upright pose again. If you are near a obstacle, wall etc. the jump button could be the traditional leap animation.

Is this something I missed? Are there games that do that?
