This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I think its "yes!!" isnt it?
He might say "chyess" though :P

Yeah, I always thought it sounded like 'Chex'. Obviously, this isn't what he is saying though. I was playing it tonight with my roommate and realized after all these years I still don't know...

GameStop brick and motor question: If I have a technical issue with a game disc and would like to get it replaced, does replacement mean I get a newly sealed game or are they going to replace just the disc?

It's been less than 30 days since I bought the game and I have the receipt.

Edit: Just called up GameStop. The entire package is replaced.

Is there a website with complete games lists for all platforms that are sortable by release date, genre, etc.?

The most complete such resource I'm aware of is Mobygames, although it has gaps too. And, for that matter, a rather odd idea of genre. I think I broadly agree with their philosophy, but I still struggle to get my head around it.

I'm not a huge football fan just looking to pick up a recent game for some 2v2 multiplayer, is Fifa 12 the best choice or could I go back further (cheaper)?

edit: nm bought Fifa 12 as it's dropped down to £6 at CeX.

I have a Q about my slim PS3 (the middle child, not the new one). I've noticed when I pause a game the drive will spin down and make this horrific, grindy "BA-DRMM" noise. Is that normal? I haven't noticed any performance issues or anything out of the ordinary, it's just a really unusual sound.

Is there an adapter for Wii that lets me hook up an N64 controller with the classic controller port (for Wii's that don't have gamecube backwards compatability) for use with the N64 virtual console games?

I know MayFlash makes an NES/SNES adapter, and there are numerous N64+others to gamecube adapters.

Looking for one that does N64 mapping to classic controller for use on Virtual Console.

So I bought Chrono Trigger on iOS recently and I'm running iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S. This is what the game looks like right now (Look at the pendant on the upper right). These same blue and sometimes purple rectangles appear over certain characters to. Any way to fix it?

So i'm starting a playthrough of the RE series. Should I play RE1 on PS1, or should I go for the Remake on GCN/Wii?

REmake all the way. The original PS1 version is laughably silly now and can only appreciated as such. If you want to play the actually good version play the GCN Remake (or the Wii port of the same).

The REmake is just titled "Resident Evil" right?

Yes. You can't buy the wrong version if you know you're looking for a gamecube or wii game. The Wii version is called Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil (same naming convention with Resident Evil Zero [which you should play after RE1])

why is Battlefield 3 looking like this on my pc? It was running fine a few days ago but since I started the campaign it looks like this. I'm running a GTX 670 by the way.

On the PS3, Wipeout HD has a 5.1 speaker audio test in the menu.

Do any xbox 360 games have such a feature?

For that matter, do any other PS3 games have such a feature?

I've managed to royally screw up my Final Fantasy IX save (stuck in Gizamaluke's Grotto with no Quina, no potions, and a pretty underleveled party) and have begun the search for a save in a similar spot.

If I find a PS3 virtual memory card save file, can I then transfer that to my Vita?

Is it possible to stream internet video to the 360 via some kind of PC connection? PS3 media server can't serve internet content to it, and i'm struggling to find any kind of solution.

I used to buy PSN cards online through Best Buy but they've stopped selling em for a while now. Are there any other trustworthy sites where I can just receive the card via email?

Thanks to the Toys R Us sale, I just picked up Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. My current PC isn't too powerful and I'm hoping to upgrade, but that wouldn't be until next year. My question is, can I only install those games on one PC?

No. Those are all account driven games. Once you register them with Blizzard or EA you should be able to download and install the client as many times as you want. They don't care about limiting that since you need to login to your account to play.

Anyone remember the arcade Wizard of Wor and it's creepy synthetic voice? If so, what were some of the lines it would throw out, cause I couldn't make sense of what it was saying. One of them was "I am the Wizard of Wor."

How do I change the email address associated with my Xbox live account? I still have access to that email, I'd just rather switch to the one I use more often.

Is it worth playing any Splinter Cell besides Chaos Theory?
If you've had your fill of Splinter Cell in general then maybe Conviction, because it's the most different from the other games. If not, the preceding two, I guess. Double Agent is the ugly duckling of the 'classic' Splinter Cells.

I have that exact same problem on my iPhone 5. I figure it was just the 5, I'm surprised to hear your having the same issue on the 4s.

Is it still possible to play Resident Evil Outbreak in co-op? Single mode is...rough.

Nope which indeed cuts out a good chunk of what made the game so much fun.
At least the option was there around release, Europe got screwed though.
Never had an option to play it online.

I've tried just about everything to sync that darn Freebird and cant. So the next question is, are there any other decent CCPro replacements out there or is CCPro king?

I've had an idea for a Tetris style game kicking around for a couple years. I know very little about game coding (but can attempt to learn whatever is necessary). What would be the best way to get a simple prototype going?

This would be the best thread to ask:

I follow it and I think the general consensus is maybe prototype using game maker, flash or unity. But ask in there and give them an idea of your past experience (If any) in things like what i have mentioned and they can give you some good advice and tutorials =]

Ah, thanks. Looks like there is a new thread now with a load of info in the OP: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=491431

I suspected Flash or Unity would be the answer. Appreciate the help.

I got the minecraft 360 demo, going into multiplayer no one else can mine except the 1st player, is this a glitch, or is this how the game is? or is it because its the trial?

Anyone know a thing or two about repainting a handheld? The front of my XL when closed is already chipped. Could use some advice as this will be my first time doing this.

Gaming side GAF, I need your help. Every year I beat around 14 games on average. This year that number has drastically dropped to 4. I'm just not feeling it right now. So my question is what game or games (for 360/PS3/PC) can maybe motivate me to play and rekindle my love of games. I actually have a bunch of stuff sitting on my shelf unopened right now so there could be a chance that something you name, I have.

For reference, the games I beat this year are Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3, Uncharted 3, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Before I give my suggestions, just realize something: it happens to everyone. If you end up dropping your love for gaming, then there's nothing wrong with that! It can be depressing because of how awesome the medium is but just remember that if you lose interest, take a break. Maybe come back later. Likely you will find a game that does rekindle your love for gaming.

ANYWAYS, back on topic. My suggestion is quite simple: go outside your comfort zone. Aim for some obscure games. Don't read reviews, don't look at how prolific the developer is, don't chose the game because of a recognizable character. Choose a genre you're not used to. That's what I did when I started going in a gaming slump, and it's been amazing!

Forgive my ignorance but are there RPGs in a post apocalypse world other than Fallout? I could really go for a game like that. I suppose I could just replay Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

Thanks for the advice. I would like to get back to it because I do love the experience games can provide that books or tv/movies can't. I guess I just have to pick something and dedicate myself to it and hope it relights the fire in me.
