This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

does the ps4 camera accept voice commands? is it worthwhile to get one for that?

Yes it does. Personally? No I don't really think it's worth it just for the voice commands as you can use any headset to use them. If you want to stream yourself or do playroom, sure though. Camera really isn't that expensive anyways [~$40]

ok so I got some psn releated questions.

1. What do I need to change in my settings so everyone can see real name and profile pic I uploaded from ps app? I tried to make it so my name and pic is viewable by everyone yet when I asked my friends they said they can only see my normal psnid and pic.

2. Follow up question, I see Sony made it so now you can add people by using their real name when searching. But if people can't see your real name unless you give them permission how can you find them? Is their something in the privacy settings Im just not seeing?

Is the WiiU completely functional (setting up a wifi connection, eshop, muniverse, etc.) with just a pro controller now?

My biggest concern is setting up the system with nnid, wifi, etc. because I'm thinking about buying a refurb to replace my stolen gamepad and then selling the actual console cheap to my friend so he can play smash. Thanks in advance :)

I think the initial setup requires you to use the Gamepad. It's been a while, so I'm not sure.

But for the general use case of starting a game and playing it? The Pro controller does fine. At least in my experience, for most games that support it. The OS recognized the Pro controller no problem, though I'm not sure about the settings menu.

My Xbone Demo unit keeps displaying a "Snap an App" menu on the right side of the screen.

I have no clue how to disable this. Any tips?

Haven't got an Xbone myself.

Ah ok worse case scenario I just bring my gamepad to set everything up initially and then he should be set to get the most out of everything as long as he doesn't get a new wifi or anything.

Will the "Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" actually work on my 360 as a wired controller?

I assume it would, but it's ~$10 cheaper everywhere I look than the actual 360 wired controller, so I'm a little worried it's not going to have whatever chip in it that lets the 360 recognize it as controller.

Yep, that's the one. Thanks for the quick reply.

It's a huge hassle for me to return anything because I live in a REALLY remote place so I wanted to make sure before I ordered it.

Cheers!

How do RPG characters survive the injuries they sustain?

Watching any FF character wearing no armor eat a behemoth hit....all I can do is imagine them impaled.

I want to say the eShop and/or system settings might require the GamePad, particularly the latter, but I could be mistaken. I think some eShop games require a GamePad to be on to use them, too. I don't know of any retail games that do, though. OTOH, some games such as 3DW and Nintendo Land have levels requiring the GamePad.

Europe/GermanGAF, are Microsoft point cards that you can buy now in stores still usable? Saw a 4200 point card for a low price and i'm thinking about buying it for the 360.

I've always found it interesting how sometimes enemies are destined to join your party after you defeat them, so you get to wail on a dude with your giant sword until he collapes to the ground, only to get back up, brush himself off and say, "Well, you sure showed me...where do I sign up?"

What is an Xbone demo unit?

With a normal Xbone you double tap the big button whatever it is called and then down on the d-pad I think.

Is it wrong to download emulation software like ppsspp and those things without actually having bought the console? I'm asking this since i know Piracy of software is bad but isnt it the same thing? (having a discussion and wasnt sure emulation software is considered freeware, like ps2/wii/gc/DC/Sega genesis/snes and that stuff ,remember just the thing to play the games, not the games themselves.

Downloading emulators isn't illegal if that's what you mean. I believe the laws on copying games differ between countries. Morally everything gets a lot more gray though I guess. Depends on what you mean by "wrong". Downloading an emu without ever owning the original seems like no issue at all to me.

When realistically can we expect the PS4 to have the AVI/DIVX/MKV playback via USB storage support the Xbone has, have their been any more rumblings about it?

There was a thread recently about Ethics of Last Gen Emulation. Apparently some emulators require the BIOS which is copyrighted.

Is the PS4 power lead a generic figure-of-8 lead? I'm looking to connect the system up again for LBP3, and I can't find the lead that came with it.

I'm about to buy a new 3DS (the R button no longer works on my old one). Is there anything more than just removing my SD card and putting it in the new one that I need to do? For saves, profile, and other stuff.

There is a system transfer feature in the settings menu. You'll need both handhelds at the same time so don't get rid of the old one yet. You can google the process or someone with more knowledge might reply here: I've never done it

I found Bastion to be incredibly boring. Is Transistor more of the same or should I play it?

I actually really liked Bastion but did not like the gameplay of Transistor. They are two different games so I wouldn't count out Transistor just because you didn't like Bastion.

Has anyone bought Nintendo eShop game codes from www.gamestop.com? Are the codes sent to you immediately after purchase? Or do they have to verify your payment method before sending it to you?

Is there any other place that sells eShop game codes and accepts PayPal? I have some funds on PayPal that I want to use.

My friends birthday is coming up in a few days and I want to buy her some PSN money. I'm doing it thru Amazon but the thing is she lives in Canada and I live in the US.

Will the code still work for her?

Is the Metroid Prime Trilogy available digitally on the Wii store? Disk version is so expensive now :/
Unfortunately, no retail Wii games are available digitally.

My question: Do 3DS systems that come with a game have the game pre-installed on the SD card or do they just come with a download code to DL the game?

They're pre-installed and unlocked in the eshop. At least that's how it was with my white MK7 XL.

My question:
Why do characters in older sRPG games (FF:Tactics, Tactics Ogre, etc.) have constant movement animation, even when standing still?

I got this controller as a freebie, some old(ish) razor one with adjustable sticks..its rubberized.

Its very sticky. I tried rubbing alcohol but that makes it worse. How can I clean and get rid of the stickiness?
