This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Just got an Xbox One. Quick question: I bought Turtles in Time: Re-Shelled and Beyond Good and Evil HD with my 360. I'm not going to be able to play them on my Xbone, huh? I know the system isn't backwards compatible, but I thought that some games in the Arcade used a different architecture or something to run...

XBLA is just 360 games.

You might be thinking of PS Minis, which are actually PSP games, but PS3 emulated them. (PS4 doesn't, however).

Thanks for the super-quick reply! Sad to hear that, but I've never played an Assassin's Creed game and I got Black Flag for free, so I'm excited to play that. Does DLC go on sale? It seems like it's still full-priced even though the game is about a year old.

Hey guys need a recommendation on some good headsets for Xbox one. Basically what I'm looking for is a headset with good sound and bass, 7.1 surround sound (virtual or true) and wireless.

I been looking at the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x but I had a bad experience with my old turtle beach headset so not sure if this model has the same problems that my xp400 has.

The other headset I had my eyes on are the new astro a50 (new model or halo edition). I keep hearing these have great sound quality but have alot of software issues.

So gaf any suggestions?

Need a way to watch Playstation 4 clips on my phone. Use to using Smartglass for Xbox One clips or Xboxclips.com

Are there anyways to do it?

Hi everyone - I'm trying to buy Nintendo points for Christmas. I have no clue what I'm doing! Please help with a couple questions:

The family member I'm buying this for has a Wii and a 3DS ***I think - trying to confirm that right now***. But the points card I'm looking at buying is a "2000 Nintendo Points" card that says Nintendo Wii / Nintendo DSi on the top right of the card.

1) Does that mean my giftee won't be able to use the points on either his Wii or 3DS? i.e. Once you load the points onto a single system's Nintendo Shop, you can't then use the points for a different system?

2) Is $30 CAD fair for a 2000 points card? I tried looking at the Nintendo website for official currency/points exchange rates but I can't find it.

Thank you!

Will Persona 5 come to PS4?

If, yes. When?

If, no. Why not?

If no is answered and there is a reason mentioned why it's not. Then you are a liar.

Are there two different amazon apps on the xbox one? I can only get the app that has only amazon prime on it and not the one that has movie rentals like the Playstation 4 does.

I don't think he'd be able to use the points for the 3DS at all. The WiiU and 3DS eshop doesn't use points anymore, instead you can buy prepaid cards like this which work both on Wii U and 3DS, but not on the Wii shop channel.

Kingdom of Amalur freezes on the loading screen in my new Xbox.

It works in the old one, even offline. I used cloud to pass the game save and deleted the online pass, I had also deleted and re-download the game a couple of times. I also cleared the cache on the new hard drive.

Any idea what to do?

You DON'T want the old Nintendo Points. Those are only usable on Wii and DSi. The Wii U and 3DS use a newer currency card, which doesn't have the points in thousands, but just in dollars.

Also, even if you were to want the points card like that, don't think $30 CAD is worth it for 2000 points, since that supposed to be roughly $20.

So I woke up today and there was a magazine on top of my xbox one, to the right, my sister had played after I went to bed.

In case she played and the magazine was there the entire time, is it something to worry about? Because it was blocking the vent system, no?

I recently played through Ys I Chronicles and felt like I would have been lost without a walkthrough. I'm feeling the same way with Ys II so far. Are Oath in Felghana and Origins similarly obtuse?

I'm about to buy a new 3DS (the R button no longer works on my old one). Is there anything more than just removing my SD card and putting it in the new one that I need to do? For saves, profile, and other stuff.

**EDIT: See, Nintendo? You call your system New in the name and it means we can't tell if people mean a new 'old' 3DS or the actual new one. My response was written under the assumption you were getting the actual New Nintendo 3DS, so if you're not, ignore the SD card part as you have that worked out already, and yes, you can just use it on your new system. You still need to do the system transfer though. **

First and foremost, New Nintendo 3DS uses micro SD, so you won't be able to use your existing SD card directly. The new one comes with a 4GB card, same amount of storage as the SD card that came with 3DS XL and twice as large as the 2GB one that came with the OG 3DS. If your existing card is the default one that came with your system, or you bought your own card up to 4GB in size, you can simply copy the entire contents via a computer:

(1) Insert old card into computer and make a new folder somewhere called SD CARD COPY or similar, and take all the top-level folders in the SD card and copy them over.
(2) Insert new card, delete all top-level folders in it, then move the copied ones over from the computer.
(3) After you confirm the new data works fine on the new system, delete the old card data and then insert it into the old 3DS.

If you bought a card larger than 4GB and you are using more than 4GB of space on it, you'll need to buy an equivalent or larger micro SD card and do the transfer above. You'll be left with a 4GB micro SD card you don't need, but you could put that in an SD Card adapter and use it with older systems if you like or just hold onto it in case you want to sell the new system later.

As for transferring your system itself (i.e. your user profile, connected Nintendo ID and software licences), it's a separate process to the above, which just gets your downloaded games and save data onto the new system. The system itself is what holds the data that lets you play all that stuff. You will need both systems in hand.

(1) Get both systems online and update them to latest firmware (do this with your new system out of the box, just set up any old username on it as that user will be gone after the transfer anyway.)
(2) Select the system transfer option in the settings and walk through it on both systems. You basically set the old one up as source and the new one as target and it checks out all your data and will warn you of anything that won't transfer (usually save data for old DSi games I think). The transfer will start, and in my experience you should set aside 10-20 minutes. If your system has anything on it that you never play anymore and don't mind deleting, you might as well delete it beforehand to speed this part up. Personally I can't think of doing that as I want all the stuff I've had since my original 3DS, even if it just gets put in a folder and forgotten about!
(3) Once it's done your old system will be in factory fresh condition with a welcome screen asking which language to choose, so you can turn it off, insert the wiped original SD card as detailed above, and sell it safe in the knowledge the new owner will get that out of box experience.

I played all four of those games without a guide and I had no issue with figuring out what I needed to do to progress. There aren't many NPCs and if you speak with the few people you can find they will point you in the right direction.

I doubt your system was harmed from being slightly warmer for a short while. Computers usually have fail-safes that will cause them to shut down before the components take permanent damage.

Also, does it really matter? The device is still functional and there is no reason to worry about what might have happened. Inform your sister that electronics can get hot and that you shouldn't block their vents.

Maybe if I play offline?

Won't even launch online. I don't know what I'm doing right in one console and wrong in the other.

Edit:

FIXED IT!! Turns out it was a bad save.

Soooo..... if I want to live stream my PS4 do I need to link it through my PC ala a capture device or can I do it direct through the console?

Isn't that what the Share button is for? I thought you could press that and output the stream to Twitch or Ustream, but I haven't tried it myself.

I thought it was to upload videos not stream live. *shrug* I'll do some research when I have time.

Is Hyrule Warriors ok for a 6 year old? His current favorites are Smash Bros, Pokemon Y, WWE 2K14, and NFL Blitz.

Seems a touch violent personally, but here's the ESRB:

Rating Category: T

Content Descriptors: Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes

Rating Summary: This is an action game in which players assume the roles of various characters from the Legend of Zelda universe. Players fight hordes of attacking enemies by using swords, arrows, and magic attacks (e.g., fireballs). Each character is also able to use a special attack that inflicts large-scale damage, flinging enemies across the battlefield. Characters cry out when struck, and battles are highlighted by impact sounds and light effects. Some female characters are depicted wearing revealing outfits (e.g., large amounts of cleavage); during one cutscene, the camera lingers on the buttocks and cleavage of a female boss character.

I don't think it's too bad though, I guess I would just make sure the depiction of women merits a discussion if that's something you're concerned about.

Do roguelikes or even roguelikelikes get any better than Rogue Legacy? I just played it for the first time tonight, and oh my god it's so fucking good!

How is Abyss Odyssey?

I am planning to get a Wii U with portable external. I want to use a Y-Cable which forces 2 USB ports. Is it impossible to play 4-player remote controller games with such a set-up?

So I have like 350 hours or so in Rogue Legacy so obviously I love it. As per better roguelikes? I actually like FTL better but it's not really the roguelike aspects [although very good] that I like better, I simply love the play style, the space aspect and so on.

By remotes I assume you mean Wii remotes, Wii Classic Controllers, Wii Classic Controller Pro, Wii U Pro Controller or the Wii U Gamepad? Yes since they're all wireless (run on batteries, power brickor USB charging) and only the Wii U Pro Controller uses USB for charging.

Thanks Volotaire, I meant the Pro Controller specifically. Since they only use the USBs for charging, that's a relief.

Another Wii U question then :) I played MK8 last night for the first time and I really want one now. Could I play MK8 with my gf if I have the Wii U gamepad and some old wiimotes or do I need new peripherals? Come to think of it, maybe the wiimote has too few buttons...

Is it a Wiimote+? I have four of those and they all work well with the Wii U and Mario Kart 8.
