This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

What happened to the Euphoria powered Indiana Jones ? Its still under development?

(I read about it in an old EDGE mag)

I have been playing final fantasy 6 for the first time (gba version) and was wondering how far into the game I was. I'm at the part where I have just saved some little kid from a fire and an old dude just joined my party. By the way impressions of the game so far is that it is good.

What exactly did Pokemon Stadium 2 use the Expansion Pak for?
Nothing as it doesn't support it:

Not even a misprint like Jet Force Gemini (US boxart says Expansion Pak support but it doesn't even use it).

Less than halfway but its depends on how much of the stuff you do in the second half (its fairly open-ended)

If you're going to try to get all of the characters back, you're about half way done.

This is kind of a gaming question...

Can I connect a PS3 to two different networks at the same time, one wirelessly and one through the ethernet cable? I'm about to move house and will only have wireless internet access, but will be able to have the PS3 connected via a separate router to the PC which would really be great for streaming video files etc. - but I don't know if I can connect to two networks at once.

I feel stupid, and could probably Google it, but... eh.

Does anyone know if the EA store does release day shipping? I was thinking about preordering DA2 from there, since they sent me an email discount code, but if that means I'll have to wait a few days to get it, I'm going to go the usual Amazon route instead.

Can I use a PS2 memory card adopter on my PS3 and transfer PS2 saves that are on my PS3 unto my PS2 memory card so that I can use the saves on my PS2? Also, how much do these things cost and where can I get one?

I'm pretty sure you can.

The Sony brand one is $30+ on Amazon.

There are some third-party ones for much cheaper, although I can't vouch for their quality (although the reviews look ok).

I have an Elite 360 and it gets a stuck disc tray from time to time and happened again today so it's stuck. I typcally stick a bobby pin inside the tray and it pops out and I blew on it and it popped out but when it closed it didn't come out.

Should I call Microsoft and send it in? Or is there some other way to make it pop out and close whenever I hit the eject button?

Played Deus EX for 2 hours on the PC (first time). Game isn't grabbing me at all. Should I keep going or just write it off as a "not for me" game?

What are the best XBLA games to spend 2400 points on?

Came to post this exact thing!
Recently bought a 360 to play some shooters... (Raiden, Death Smiles)
as well as for XBLA games.

Any suggestions? I'll make a note to check out Shadow Complex.

Don't bother. Have you played the first Deus Ex?

What's a good type of class beginner to make in Demon's Soul's?

Also, getting metroid prime 2 tommorow, any important things to know?

Playing Baldurs Gate 1 right now and have a question regarding the learning of spells:

Can every mage/invoker whatever learn every spell? Or are some spells (like the fire missile) just for certain NPCs?

I'm talking about the ability to "write magic", I'm playing with Dynaheir (Xzar and Montaron are so goddamn annyoing) and she for instance can't remember a simple sleep spell..

TIA

Wow, I was just going to ask this same exact question yesterday but couldn't find this thread. O_o

Temple Knight if you enjoy melee fighting or Royal if you prefer to focus on magic spells.

Yes, I do this occasionally.

When using the PS3 backup utility can you choose to only backup saves and are there still saves that don't get transferred like Demons Souls?
I think it backs up everything. There are certain save files that still won't back up with that utility but most will.

I'm talking about the first one. If it was an 8 hour game I could see playing through it until the end... but I hear it's 30+ hours.

Obviously enemy AI isn't the games strong point and neither is the gun play. So what is so great about it? Is it a great story? Because so far the story seems pretty cheese ball to me.

I've been getting back into playing the Wii lately with Donkey Kong and Goldeneye and I want another good game. I can't decide between Kirby's Epic Yarn or New Super Mario Bros. I will mostly play alone so multiplayer isn't a factor in the decision. I can't decide!

Kirby looks good but it's pretty easy. Go for NSMB, unless you don't have SMG2 yet.

I'd pick New Super Mario Bros. I disliked the DS game, but I found the Wii version to be enjoyable and there's definitely challenging levels later on.

But if you boot up the game with an Expansion Pak in the system, it says "N64 Expansion Pak Found".

Semi-recently I got fed up with my DS Lite's shoulder buttons, which flat-out don't work unless I blow into them (and that only makes them work because of the moisture in my breath, I think). I ordered a triwing screwdriver and opened it up (it's far out of warranty). Outside of removing an alarming amount of dust--tons of it--it proved to be a pointless exercise. The circuits for the L and R buttons are housed inside little closed boxes so I couldn't clean the contacts. I didn't feel comfortable trying to disassemble the little boxes..

What are my options here? Is there any way I can fix the buttons myself? I was considering a replacement shell since they're fairly cheap, but what's the point if my shoulder buttons are never going to work again?

I'd like to know too, since my shoulder buttons are so bad on my Lite AND my DSi (they started going on my DSi six months after I bought it but I procrastinated too much to send it in while it was under warranty, ugh) to the point where I have to check to see if games require shoulder buttons before I buy them.

This is a stupid question. Is playing a fan translation of a game considered piracy? Say I wanted to play a game never released in the US that is more than a decade old, but there exists a fan translation, is it legal to play that? It still seems like piracy to me. Would it not be considered piracy if I tracked down a physical copy of the untranslated version of said game then obtained the translated version? Or is it considered piracy no matter what?

It's always going to be really murky, but morally I would say it's best to at least own the game.

Nobody? As prone to defect as the shoulder buttons are, I have a hard time believing nobody else has found a solution.

Not true, it does support it. The Expansion pak lets the N64 run the game in high res (640 X 480i) mode.

Do old SNES and Genesis and similar carts contain volatile RAM that their save data was stored in, requiring constant battery power, similar to Gameboy cartridges?

Yes they do. The N64 was the first console to ditch battery back up and use EEPROM. Most GBA games use EEPROM as well, but a couple of games use battery backup.

Posted this in the other thread as well:

I recently purchased a PS3 and was just thinking that video playback might work better on it than it does on my old Macbook Pro. I think HD playback is a bit choppier than it ought to be. What's the easiest/cleanest way to watch podcasts through the PS3. Is it possible download them directly from the device, or is streaming the only way?

This seems so basic that I'm reluctant to ask it, but here goes ... Are high-end PC graphics qualitatively better than console graphics or are they essentially the same thing at a (much) higher resolution? I speak as someone who has never even seen a gaming PC in the flesh.

They look better, not with only a higher resolution. Maybe there are exceptions, but these are very very rare, and are very bad ports.

I always forget that the n64 was 320x240 for it's natural res, damn that is so low when you think about it.
