This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Questions about The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords:

Is this fun as a single player experience? Also, can I play multiplayer without having GBAs connected? If so, how is it as a multiplayer experience without GBAs?

*EDIT* Does the Wii Classic controller work with Gamecube games on the Wii?

Apparently you mean Four Sword Adventures and not Four Swords, which is the one that comes with Link to the Past on GBA. :P

You do need a Game Boy for each player in multiplayer. Single player works with a controller. The Classic Controller doesn't work with GameCube games.

Thanks for the info! That sucks that GBAs are needed for each player in multiplayer though. Looks like I won't be playing any of the multiplayer on it

Four Swords is still fun single player, but it's an amazing multiplayer experience. I hope we see a similar game in the future (one that doesn't require a ridiculous hardware setup).

It would be cool to see it on 3DS with multiplayer. Since everyone has their own screen, I assume it wouldn't require any weird hardware setup. But that's just wishful thinking, I don't think that it's likely that we will see it ported.

Plenty of people owned a GBA, but few ever wanted to buy cable connectors to use it for a handful of games on the Gamecube. Crystal Chronicles and Four Swords Adventures weren't that amazing to make it worth it.
Pac-Man VS was though and needs to get ported or a sequel on 3DS.

So my question. What was the last FPS to really use Key Cards? Green Card, Blue Card, Red Card, etc. Not as a parody or a joke or a port of an old title, but honestly used it because it was part of it's design?

I ended up with 4-5 of those goddamn cables. I don't even know how I got them, they just randomly came with a bunch of games.

And FSA and CC WERE AMAZIN', FOOL!

For serious. I got two of them free with games. It wouldn't break the bank to buy two more at $7 each. More practical than buying guitar controllers.

Sometimes it's hard to tell whether it's a joke or not. That said, usually you won't get the right answer until someone posts a guess, so people can start thinking of later ones.

So I'm gonna say...I think it's Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn from May 2000.

I have a question regarding the Media Server feature on PS3 and this thread seemed like the only place fitting to ask it:

How do I make the music library on my laptop public so I can access the files through my PS3 without having to transfer ALL my music into the public folder? (I'm running windows 7)

I'm assuming the answer is "no", but do you ever need to use the L or R buttons in Pokemon Black and White? Mine are borked.

Been trying to get the Neverhood to work on my Vista laptop. I've got it to install alright, the game boots up and plays fine too, but whenever it gets to a cutscene or in first person view it slows to a crawl. Have not as yet been able to find a solution after a fair amount of searching, tried patches, compatibility modes/tweaks, nothing has quite worked so far.

When was the last time you updated your video drivers?

I'm assuming you'll be able to use them to cycle through menus but that you can also use the d-pad or touch screen for it

Has anyone bought a used console from Amazon? I'm thinking about picking up a used DSi, the quality is rated "Acceptable." The dealer is the Amazon Warehouse thing though, so I'm hoping that maybe they just say "Acceptable" so that they don't have to worry about guaranteeing a level of quality.

What are the forum rules about bumping old threads? Like how old of a thread is it acceptable to bump? If I started playing a game that has been out for quite awhile, but had questions or needed help, would it be okay to post and bump an old |OT| that hasn't been posted in for a year or so? I've checked the ToS and the FAQ, but I'm I didn't see anything about it.

I would pass honestly. I don't know if this is the DSi that you're looking at, but the description I'm reading for a DSi in Amazon Warehouse deals reads: "May not include manual, cover art, or case. Full game is included, but bonus downloadable content may have already been redeemed."

It seems kind of sketchy when they say "may not," as it implies they probably haven't paid close attention to the product and isn't sure what it comes with. It either has them, or it doesn't.

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of memory units on an XBox 360 that contains gamertags (profiles) plugged in at the same time?

I came across a weird problem today where I couldn't have 3 USB Memory sticks plugged in at the same time that each had gamer profiles on them. I had to have just 2 plugged in and move one of the profiles to the hard drive locally, unplug the memory stick that had the profile on it before it was moved, then plug in the 3rd one.

According to Wikipedia, the system supports 8 Xbox Live-enabled profiles per memory unit and 32 profiles on the hard drive. It doesn't mention anything about a limit of memory units per console each containing Gamertags.

Does the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed 2 allow you to change the control scheme? If so, to what extent?
The R1 button on my control pad does not work, so in order to play I'd have to swap some commands around (and put a generally unimportant action onto R1)
This is basically to determine if I purchase the game or not, so help is appreciated

Is it worth playing Spore at this point? It sounded interesting before release, but I didn't have means of playing it at time.

I don't think it was ever worth playing. I was excited for it, too. But then I played it and it was pretty bad.

Kind of a late reply, but go ahead if you find something from amazon warehouse and its the price you'd pay for the item. Warehouse is pretty much as reliable as amazon itself (they are amazon but just handle the used/returned items) and have a return period of 30 days I think?

I got my PS Move Bundle(PS move, Eye and Sports Champion) from AW for 62 bucks in Very Good condition and it looked brand new all the parts were there and the box was a little beat up.

I'm fairly certain there's no way to change the controls in Assassin's Creed 2, unfortunately. Shame you'll have to do without it, since it's a pretty great game.

The first NES games I ever got (as presents) came in unusual plastic cases, just big enough for the carts to fit in. I think there was some kind of Dr. Manhattan-esque dude on the front punching something. The color scheme was sort of yellow/orange. On the inside cover was a big sticker that was sort of a manual, laying out the story and how to play. I have no idea where these cases came from and I've since lost them. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I'd like to know where these things came from. I also want to find pictures of them, but I don't know what to search for.

I can't help you personally, but I'll recommend also asking here too:

is Sega Classics Collection any good? the more i read up on Sega Ages, the more i feel gypped we never got it. looks like a decent lineup, not sure how the graphic updates hold for Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, Bonanza Bros etc.
it's < $10 on ebay, just thought id check since ive bought like god knows how many of sega's compilations over the years. i'm assuming the stuff on steam is just ROMs for the most part.

Aha, thanks, easy to research these things now. I rented games at tons of places and never saw any of these. Figured they'd be something more obscure.

I was always amused by all the announcements that these are indeed INSTRUCTIONS INSTRUCTIONS INSTRUCTIONS

Fantasy Zone, Space Harrier, Golden Axe, Bonanza Bros., Columns, and Alien Syndrome are all included in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Why not get that instead? It was $40 when it was released two years ago, so it's probably dirt cheap by now. I picked it up because of the Phantasy Star and Shining Force games.

This collection only contains remakes of the original games which are, for most of them, absolutely terrible. They managed to remake Golden Axe into an horrid game, unplayable and fugly.
Avoid this collection at all costs, please.

I'm looking to get a Hong Kong PS3 slim but I live in the UK and I'm worried about voltage conversions. Is it true that HK uses the same plugs/voltage as the UK? Will I need a safe converter or anything like that?

If I buy a copy of FFXII zodiac job system thing (the enhanced version of FFXII) is there a way to patch the menus and etc on the disk to english and then play it on my ps2 (US)? I also would want to do a similar thing with a copy of Fire Emblem 4 and 5 for the Super Famicom, but play it on a SNES. Also are these questions allowed I don't want to be banned because I asked them.

There's an incomplete English patch for it. You'll need ISO images of both the Japanese Zodiac Job System version and the regular US version in order to patch it. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I assume you need a modded console or a PS2 emulator (for the PC) to play it.

Known issues (US version):

  • Additional japanese overlays in intro.
  • Some items have wrong or missing descriptions.
  • Rafflesia's genre in bestiary is too long (as well as few others).
  • One or two bestiary entries (cluckatrice/chickatrice?) are too long, so one character is moved to the next line and is the only one in this line.
  • Some minor texts in inventory/shops are in japanese (quantity, count, price, name).
  • Some descriptions on license board are too long.
  • Some item names are too long - shops/inventory list/license board. There's just a few of them.
  • Some gambit names are too long.
  • The "Action list" is totally screwed due to too long names.
  • Some missing npc names (shop clerks in bhujerba).
  • Wrong names in Pharos, when you look at the map for the first time.
  • "(Jahara, land of Garif)" goes offscreen in hunt descriptions.

I don't think it's against the forum rules, but just in case I'll send you a PM with a link to the download. If you need any other help with the game I suggest you take a look at the FAQ that Red Scarlet put up last week.
