This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I posted my question in the wrong thread, so here it goes again:

I need help NDS/3DS GAF.

I have a Euro 3DS and I would like to know if the following games are region free or not? They never got released in Europe, and I want to import NA copies. I think I found info that says Radiant Historia is playable on a Euro 3DS but I am not 100% sure. Can't find anything on SoD.

1. Radiant Historia
2. Sands of Destruction

Thanks in advance.

Do we know when E3 is in 2012? I need to be in America for it but will be planning a trip there ANYWAY, but I would like to know roughly when itis.

When does the date get announced, at least?

So i have a question about one of neogafs policies that also pertains to gaming, if anyone would be so kind as to answer it for me.

I know that scans are not aloud for obvious reasons, but say there is an interview in a gaming mag for a perticular game, and that gaming mag actually publishes the entire magazine on the net, is that aloud to be posted?

I'm asking because there is a new interview from the Ian Frazier from 38 studios on Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning with some good information in the newest EGM, and EGM posts the magazine up themselves on their site. If I can i'd like to post it but only if it's allowable for me to do so.

Thanks in advance for anything information on this.

Neither of those games are DSi enhanced, so they are region free.

Why isn't there a Skyward Sword OT ?
OTs can't appear until a week before the game's release, I believe.

The normal thing to do in cases like this is provide the link to the source up front and either post the excerpts that you find important or bold the bits you want to talk about within quote tags.

Does anybody know if amazon ship on weekends? My order changed to "shipping soon" today and am wondering If this means it will ship on Sunday?

I wanna buy the german version of Spiderman Shattered Dimensions on PS3, but I need to know if this version has all main european languages, or at least english ?

Calling all indie/ basement dev gaf..

Whats the best way to get into making your own games?
Any mentions are welcomed. Be it trying to go with C programming or just trying to make stuff with flash. Just, whats a good way to start trying to make something.

Mind you I have nothing but desire under my belt. =/

So I have another SNES question. I have it hooked up to a LCD TV. I'm getting graphical glitches on FFVI and Secret of Mana. I've cleaned both games with q-tips and rubbing alcohol, and am still getting the same issues. I tried to clean the contacts on the SNES as well, but it is difficult because of how its made.

Is it possible that the glitches are coming because of have a modern LCD? Is there anything else I can do to clean the SNES or the games? Is there any more troubleshooting I can do before I just buy a new SNES console?

This is not 100% gaming oriented, but it's related to games in a way (ordering them).

Does anyone know if Amazon Prime on Amazon.co.uk ships to Sweden with One-day delivery?

What kind of visual glitches?

Secret of Mana has the enemies appearing invisible until you hit them, then they turn into random squiggles and digits. The overworld (the mode 7 part) is just flickering blocks of green.

Final Fantasy VI has lines of sprites missing. For instance, during the opening as it scrolls, portions of the landscape will be gone and the background will be visible. There is also similar graphical flickering similar to what I described in Secret of Mana when it gets to Kefka's castle during the opening scroll.

What is a good wireless 5.1 or 7.1 surround gaming headset that will work for both the 360 and PS3?

NOTE: The ability to communicate isn't important. I just want to be able to have a surround sound experience without annoying anyone else or shaking the floors.

That doesn't sound like an LCD problem. Does it show problems in all games, or just those two? My gut says that the issue lies in your VRAM, although it's possible the problem lies in the ROMs in the cart.

Any news on the Battlefield 3 beta for consoles (specifically the x360)?
My brother has MoH and it says that there is a beta coming for it (doesn't state when) and I've seen some alpha/beta stuff for the PC but nothing about consoles.

I have these. They are great.

Whats the difference between Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Devil Survivor etc? Which one is first?
First came a novel by Aya Nishitani. In 1987 the first game came out for the Famicom. Megami Tensei and later Shin Megami Tensei is the main series. Persona, Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor are all spin-off series. All games have some form of demon summoning, but many of the spin-offs are hybrids with other genres. Devil Survivor is a strategy role-playing game. The last two Devil Summoner games have real-time combat. Persona 3 & 4 have more story and dating sim elements in them.

Original series: Megami Tensei • Megami Tensei II
Shin Megami Tensei: Shin Megami Tensei • II • Shin Megami Tensei if... • III: Nocturne • Strange Journey
Devil Summoner: Devil Summoner • Soul Hackers • Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army • 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon
Persona: Revelations: Persona (PSP) • Persona 2 (PSP) • Persona 3 (FES • Portable) • Persona 4 • Trinity Soul (anime)
Digital Devil Saga: Digital Devil Saga • Digital Devil Saga 2
Devil Survivor: Devil Survivor • Devil Survivor 2
Other: Last Bible • Majin Tensei • Jack Bros. • Devil Children • NINE • Imagine

You can read more about the series here: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/megaten/megaten.htm

Are the donkey kong country ports for the GBA any good? I've only the first one on the snes but would love to play them all on my micro.

Is it possible to transfer a PS1 save that was originally made on a PSP to a PS3? I don't have my PSP anymore, but I've got the saves on my PC - I don't want to have to start my games again!

I saw today there's a handful of HDMI adapters for the Wii. Any of these any good?

Since my Xbox 360 is hooked up to my iMac now, my TV has a free HDMI connection, and if I could move the Wii to HDMI I could free up the Component jacks for my PSP Go's dock.

Also, are Xbox 360 headsets universally terrible or do I just have rotten luck?

My current one makes a lot of static noise when it gets moved in the jack.

I think they're terrible as my friends have made similar claims, yet I've never had any real problems with mine. I don't think you're alone.

Is there any way at all for me to download a completed Bayonetta PS3 save file? I don't care if I can't get trophies with it. I have them all already. I lost my save data when my PS3 died and I don't really want to have to unlock everything again.

Guess I'll spring for the Reach styled wireless one to match my console & controller someday.

So, what's this "FOV" everyone keeps going on about in PC game threads? Field of Vision/View, presumably, but what does it impact on the game? What is a "bad FOV"?

I've always wondered this.

I know it changes how far to the side you see/how much you see but I don't get why it's so important.

Overly narrow FOV, especially on widescreen monitors, creates what many find an uncomfortably claustrophobic and occasionally nauseating sensation. It makes the player feel like they have tunnel vision, and not a natural viewing angle that they would if they were seeing the game world through their own eyes.

What happened to Psychonauts on the Xbox Marketplace? The game listing is gone; just the gamer pics and themes are there.

FOV for Field of view. It's how large you field of view is. Bad FOV is 60 degrees. Bood fov is starting at 90 degrees. Some people like to go over this with 120 degrees and over, but online games tend to give a cap so there's no unbalanced field of view. We could easily imagine people going for 360 degrees field of view and more, just to have this edge in shooters, to see all around them at once.

I think I understand. Do you happen to have any illustrative screenshots/videos...?

I have a copy of Mario Kart DS and it is the US version f the game.

I know it works on a UK Ds Lite but would it work on a UK DSi?

Yes, DS games are region free. It's DSi enhanced games you have to watch out for.

I have VERY little time left in the summer to play games. Theoretically, I'll have time here and there to play handheld titles. But for now, I can't decide between:

1. DQ5
2. Finishing Tactics Ogre (I'm on the last chapter, but probably have 10+ hours to go)
3. Starting Zelda 3DS
4. Buying El Shaddai or Catharine (I'm leaning toward playing Catharine, but the puzzles scare me, and I can't decide which system I want it for)

I'd go for Dragon Quest V. It's the best game in the series and perfect to play in shorter bursts. Wait for El Shaddai and Catherine to hit the bargain bins if you have other games in your backlog.

Catherine is hard as fuck but the puzzles are really satisfying. I'd wait for it to get cheap, though.
