This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

okay so i just downloaded a ps1 game from psn, and I have the old 80 gb. a couple years ago my system got the YLOD and i sent it in the get fixed. I noticed that it did this after i made a ps1 memory card on it. I'm just wondering if that possibly had anything to do with it shitting out and if it would be an ok idea to try making another memory card on it now, I'm just afraid it might shit out again

Alright so I touched up my Wii with Homebrew and Gecko OS in order to play Xenoblade Chronicles. I want to import a copy of Disaster: Day of Crisis, but its out of print and the one decent copy I can find is on eBay but its the PAL Austrailian version. This version will still work in my system right?

Fucking derp.

What ever happened to labyrinthine FPS games like Star Wars: Dark Forces, Doom, Duke Nukem, etc (or hell even Metroid Prime)? The sort of games where levels literally had overlay map toggles available if you got lost. Are there any recent games like that on PC?

Anyone have that gif where the person riding on a horse clips and rotates straight through it?
too human i think it was from?

On the 360, is there a way to delete your XBLA saves if it's one of those ones that's tied to your profile and not with it's own individual save file?

Straight up deleting the game doesn't work, so hopefully there's some method.

Guess this is a gaming question..

Anyway, my father passed recently and I'm living with my sister, but since that time she's gotten into this awful habit of never, ever leaving the living room (we're both out of work until we move, so she's here a lot) and honestly I'm trying to play some fucking Xenoblade. I'm sick and tired of it looking like an awful, blurry mess in the spare room (with a super old CRT with bad coloring among else) and since she's camping the primary room I can't access my HDTV.

So I'm in the market for a smaller HDTV I can keep in a side room for this purpose, but also since the big tv works great for Ps3/360, I'd like a smaller tv that's more compatible with Wii and even to some extent older games (My Ps2 looked great on component with 26" Samsung HDTV I used to have, but awful on the big screen we have now).

With that in mind, what would some of you recommend for a 26" ? As mentioned I was very favorable to my old Samsung model, so I'm open to that brand but also suggestions of brand or particular models. I went into BB the other day and observed that many of the models in this size are 200-400 USD.

Since I'm not technical, do I need 120 hz? Do they even offer on 26"? My old Samsung was only 720p and honestly didn't miss the 1080p at that time, but since this is for mostly side use should I not really worry about getting a 1080 set? Or is it an awful idea to not get a 1080 set?

You can do without 120Hz and 1080p.

All my PC games run buttery smooth at high settings except for SOURCE games, which seem to run below 10fps. They run equally poorly whether the settings are at the highest or lowest possible. What could I be doing wrong?

This is kind of game related. How come when I play certain games (Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Call of Cthulhu, Assassins Creed Brotherhood) my speakers start to make a popping noise and why does the game start to slow down when these popping noises happen?
I have to restart my computer every time it starts. After I restart it, it doesn't make the popping noise, until I turn my computer on the next day and play one of those games.

Are you playing on a laptop with low power mode enabled?

Do I need the Red Dead Redemption disc to run the downloadable version of Unded Nightmare? The one for 800 MSP not the Pack.

I want to say you need the original disc, yes. You'd have to get the Undead Nightmare disc to play it without RDR.

UK GAF: I've preordered most of the games i'm buying this fall off of amazon. What have your experiences been with them with 1st class shipping? Late arrivals? 1 day early?

Are there any podcasts that are either entirely about or have features about discussing older games? Here are some examples of the type I am looking for:

Squadron of Shame Squadcast
- plays through what they feel are under-appreciated/overlooked games, usually of the last 10 years. I've recently liked their episodes on Deus Ex, Silent Hill 2, Eternal Darkness & Uncharted.

Radio Free Nintendo, feature RetroActive - play through & discuss older games available on Nintendo platforms, according to votes by the community. Their latest entry was Killer7.

Retronauts - I really enjoy more of the old style of the show, where they'd pick a series and talk about it for 1-2 hrs, giving history, stories, critique etc etc

Are there any more podcasts/features out there like this? I cannot get enough of them.

Sorta gaming related.

Anyone used Tesco Entertainment to pre-order a game before?
Just wondering what they are like for delivery; release date? early? late?

Why do my 360 controller battery lights keep blinking even though it has like 8 hours of life still left, even on the new slims this happens, why can't they fix or update it to be at least a little more accurate?

What are the best selling Western games in Japan?
The first Ratchet and Clank for the PS2 sold 562k. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the same system sold 412k. Vice City 410k.

For the SNES you have a Donkey Kong Country at 3000k and its sequel, DKC2, at 1500k.

?

Sounds like you might have a faulty controller or its reporting the estimated life erroneously. When mine blinks to indicate its running low on power and I just let it run out, it usually dies within an hour.

BTW do you have the rapid charge station or the plug n play thing?

Didn't a couple of the Naughty Dog Crash Bandicoot games sell close to a million in Japan?
You're absolutely right. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped did 917k and Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back sold 894k.

No I use regular batteries well maybe not 8 hours but it is definitely over 3 hours where it still blinks and I had 2 different slim controllers and it still does it. Maybe something wrong with my Slim?

I have the 4 GB Slim if that matters.

Can I buy a new wii and transfer all my licenses over to it from my old wii? (Like you can with the license transfer tool on the xbox 360).
I don't think you can, I did a quick google search and nothing saying that its possible popped up.

Just a quick question. I have 2 items in the same order with amazon and both have a $20 credit promotion. Will I get both, so $40 credit?

I played Dynasty Warriors 1 ages ago (although that's not really part of the series), and tinkered a little with DW2 - and rather liked it. I'm toying with the idea of getting back into the series. However, there's so many spin-offs and variants, I'm at a bit of a loss at to where to enter; where's a nice, recent entry point. Ideally not full price, but I'm not sure how the quality fluctuates as the series goes on.

Is there any reason to favour PS3 over 360 for DW purchases?

And finally, *how* different are the non-Dynasty Warriors Musou games? I was toying with jumping in on Gundam 1 for a bit of difference but still the same basic idea, but I'm not sure if it's better to stick with the main series for now.

I really enjoyed Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS3/360/PS2/PSP(JP only)/PC) if you want to go with that.

As for the other Warrior games, Samurai Warriors is also good, 3 (Wii) has plenty of content to keep you going, there is also Chronicles for the 3DS which I enjoyed despite all the low reviews.

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce is good but it's kinda mixed with people.

Though it's not a Warrior/Koei game, you might like Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes - it's more of a hack and slash though.

My launch 60GB PS3 got the YLOD and I took it to a 3rd party computer shop to get it fixed. I take it home and it works. I try to do the 3.70 fw update, it downloads fine and then it gets to 99% and comes up with this error 8002f14e. It's stuck in a loop and keeps doing hte update to 99%.

So I take it back to the guys to see if they can fix it and I got a phonecall saying htey can't get it fixed so here is my problem.

Do I ask the guys for a refund for the repair?

Anyone know where I can buy a cheap PS3 in the UK?

I downloaded Wipeout HD and the Fury expansion from the Ambassador Program. I just tried playing them and it says there's an update available, but the update won't start downloading. Is this a known issue or something or should I just try again later?

Since when did they take out the ability to stock up on msfunbux by simply pressing x on the dash? I had to go to xbox.com because I couldn't find a way to buy points on the 360.

Never heard of this as an issue. Try again later.

If you go to a screen to actually buy something there should be an option to add points.

Yeah that's what I was doing for a while but once I had enough points for most things in the marketplace, I lost the option. Weird.

This one has bugged me for a while -

Some time go, I upgraded my Xbox 360's harddrive to a 120GB. Everything works fine - except I always have to be connected to the internet now to play my arcade games, otherwise it shows up as a demo.

I'm guessing this is for added security, but it's highly annoying. Is there a way to fix this?

Xbox License transfer? I had no idea.

My son wanted to play Pokemon on his DS against a friend, but it apparently has issue with my old router(D-Link 524). Is there an easy fix for this? Works fine with all my other systems.

Is your router's security WPA, and is the DS a Lite or Phat? Because I can't connect to my own router thanks to that.
