This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Alright I think I finally decided to exchange my old PS3 for a new one (Uncharted 3 bundle most likely). What do I need to do to prepare myself? And by that I mean .. do I need to transfer stuff to an external hd or can I just redl everything through account management?

And here, as the Type-0 thread is probably dead already.

Did S-E post any new info about Type-0 and the Vita in the last few weeks or is buying it off the PSN still the only way to run it on the new Sony console? I wasn't really online that often and could've missed it. Would be good if they've added a code inside a box or something, I really want to have a physical copy :(

I:ve got a $10,000+ game collection that i:m looking to sell off, problem is me and ebay had a bit of a falling out 8-9 years ago, and I:d prefer not to user their services myself, is there any other place anyone knows of to sell off retro and import game goods and still get a fair price?(tons of not super-rare but stuff that goes for $10-15 on ebay) along with some rare items

Been having this issue with xbox live for awhile and it's pretty annoying.

Most mornings when I turn on my xbox it's unable to log into xbox live. When I run test i get the error "Cannot obtain IP address from router or modem." so when I go turn on the modem and turn it on again it begins working. But it's pretty annoying having to do that daily.

What exactly is causing the problem? I use a verizon dsl modem split through a Linksys network switch. Had this set up for a number of years and this has only begun happening a few months ago. I can't have a direct connection to the modem because many things work off the switch.

If anyone has any tips or things that I may need to do with my network it would be appreciated.

I have a good question. Last night I was playing TF2 with a friend and it was hard to hear him since the TF2 sounds and his voice were coming out of my headset at the same time. Is there a way for the game sounds to come out of my computer speakers and only his voice to come through my headset? I figure there has to be a way but I have had no luck with it.

What with Dark Souls now being out, I've been thinking that I really ought to find some time in my gaming plan (currently somehow trying to cram Arkham City, Uncharted 3 and Zelda in the few months remaining in the year!) to accomodate Demon Souls, which I've had for a while (twice!), yet not yet played.

Given all the talk about its online features, would I be missing out massively if I didn't get around to it until after the servers went down?

I would love to know this myself.

does the xbox360 scratch games??? It wouldn't read my fifa12 anymore, I take it out and I find smudges/scratches on the disc!

the console never moves even a hair while playing and the game hasn't left the tray since it was released a couple weeks ago. Wtf :(

Can someone remind me how to find the section on Xbox dot com where it shows your gaming info for the last month or so? IIRC, it shows a pie chart of your gaming and netflix usage percentage, and how much time you've been playing certain games.

Edit: nvm, just figured it out.

Im looking for 3 types of games or simulators. Please let me know if you own, played, or know of any games like the following:

-Im looking for a game (more of a simulator). I would like it to be able to simulate life, life adaptation, evolution, creature thought, and interaction with other creatures. Sort of like a artificial intelligence or artificial life game (simulation) One game I have found close to this was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qiUZljRFVo (by far my fave game on the itouch)

-Also looking for a universe game (simulator). Something that I can watch a universe evolve, transform, and grow. Im talking about starts, black holes, galaxies, and maybe even life. I am NOT asking for universal sandbox (seems like a simple gravity game to me). WOuld like to see things created or destroyed on their own.

-A biosphere or ecosystem game (simulator). A way to see the interaction of the environment and the creatures living with it. Water, land, animals, and weather. Something that changes on its own over time that i might be able to also alter or change.

I would like PC game or itouch games. THANKS GAF!

are used ps3 copies of Portal 2 redeemable on steam?
The Steam version comes from a voucher in the PS3 version which you link to your Steam account. However, it is possible the previous owner did not use the code (maybe they don't know what a Steam is).

I recently bought a Wii to play skyward sword and some other gems I have missed.
I do have a 37" Toshiba Regza somehing something 720p television.

I read that for 480p (or to activate the not yet available option in the settings menu) I need some other cable type, can someone recommend me a cable that is as cheap as possible but can bring me 480p, I have no idea about that stuff (other than: oh noes, no HDMI for wii)

You need to pick up a component cable. Meritline sells one for $10.

I tried fixing my old 40GB PS3 after the YLOD.
It's actually the 3rd time I tried it. The PS3 worked, but it couldn't connect my controller (would get all 4 lights blinking all the time).
Now, I got myself a new 160GB, and tried connecting the new controller, but it wouldn't connect either. What could be wrong? (This is all with and without the cords)
Yes I googled.

Anyone got an idea? Thanks.

SPORE

...oh wait. Sim Everything died and SPORE was the malformed phoenix that hobbled out of the ashes before shortly dying; for real.

Yea spore felt a bit to linear for me. Almost nothing you did matter till the final space stage. And running into other species was fun for a while but got a bit repetitive. I want something more hands on and that can have many different outcomes

I plan to get Dark Souls for PS3 in future. I am kinda interested in finding a way to record myself playing and to edit later...I know people do it but how can I?

An easy way is through a "TV Tuner Card" on PC. Plug your ps3 on your pc using the card and record it. The ones that have HDMI are kind of expensive, though.

You guys know of any games like sim city or city XL thats more of a hands off viewer? Like being able watch a civilization or society grow and rule them selves.

What were these things on the left of the various options in the title screen of Street Fighter 2 on the home consoles? It looks like a tiny spaceship or something like that but it changes with every move and I always wondered what that was supposed to be like.

Posted this in the Arkham thread, but I figured I'd get a better shot at an answer here.

How does DLC work for retailers (ie different costumes, etc with pre-orders)?

Are they given as a bonus from the publishers or do they have to pay for the exclusive?

I might be wrong but always thought it was the powered up ship (turns to a robot iirc) from Side Arms Hyper Dyne.

I played through Resident Evil 5 on co-op with a friend and didn't unlock anything when we finished. I'm assuming this is because we quit midway through a few levels and I went back to level 2-1 to grind for ammo a bit before resuming. (He was hosting.) My questions:

- To unlock the costumes and unlimited ammo and stuff, do I just have to play through the chapters I'm missing clear times for, or do I have to do them all again?
- Does it matter if I play the game on Amateur for those three chapters when my records for the others are for Normal?
- Do I have to host, and if I don't have to host, can I do it with the unlockable infinite ammo?

Do Wii games save to the SD card when they save to the system's memory?

I have been attempting to back up my saves to the SD card that stays in the system and it keeps saying the save file is the same as the save file on the system.
