This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Does anybody know a gaming related wiki or glossary that explains terms like invisible walls, trial and error and quick time events?

I asked on the last page. I'll ask a last time and then let it go. Game looks hilarious!

Is Japan World Cup 3 still playable? The site is still up but I can't get it to play based on instructions in other threads. I've tried FF and IE, both flash versions are up to date.

This is a flash horse racing betting game. (not much of a game)
You can play it here: http://www.jra-jwc.jp/win5/
I figured out how to start the race:

1. Press the Red "SKIP" button on the bottom left.
2. Click the same red button again.
3. Click the furthest left yellow button on the bottom left.
4. Pick the furthest left of 3 yellow buttons. (Not sure what the differences are)
5. Pick the amount of credits you want to use to bet on. (Purple Button on the buttom right shows how much you have out of 20)
6. Pick 1 rider from each of the 5 races. (mouse over button to see what they look like)
7. Pick the large yellow button on the bottom left of the popup.
8. Click the same yellow button again.
9. Click the red button.
10. Click it red button again.
11. Watch the race.

Can anyone point me to any resources for flash drive gaming?

I am going to be doing some traveling for work and I want to be able to pop in my drive to any random computer and play "instantly." Ideally would like to be able to use steam as well.

I know there will probably be some registry issues, but are there any utilities that make this easier? Is it even possible?

I can always ask this in the PSP go thread if no responses, but... I believe (aka: am 99% sure) my Go's headphone stereo output is reversed (non CFW).

Waterfall to the left? Look on the right, that's where the audio is coming from.

Ricochets on your right flank? Headphones beg to differ.

Bluetooth is fine, but that option uses a good deal of battery life compared to my old-fashioned Sennheiser earbuds. What gives?

Maybe it's the headphone itself, are you sure you are wearing your headphone/earbuds the right way?

Looking for a recent official trailer that was released that had some really crazy dubstep music.

It sound like something between Genesis and this song from Skrillex.

When I say recent I think less than 6 months. Saw it posted and Gaf and watched it several times just because of the greatness of the music. Guess it was a TV Spot for a game because it was rather short.

Is there a site that has a list of all Playstation Store games with price? (PSN games, PSP games, PS minis etc.)

Basically, I'm looking for a site similar to nintendolife.com, just for PSN.

hey guys, can someone help me? what's the name of that space flight sim where you travel to another planet or whatever in real time? Like, years of gameplay!

thanks in advance!

see, that't what I thought at first, too... but I've tried my Shure studio cans (940's), and while the sound quality was what I expected, they still seemed reversed to me. I was thinking maybe the Go just blends center/right/left a little muddy, so to speak.

Could also be just me? Can't figure this one out.

Orbiter?

Can anyone recommend a clear acrylic/plastic shell for the 3DS? My current model has been getting quite scratched up and whenever I decide to replace it I'd love to have something to slap on to protect it.

My brother has a 4GB Slim 360. He bought Burnout 3 and Black for original Xbox. Says he needs hard drive to play them.

My question: Will an official 360 brand USB 16gb work for this or is he SOL unless he shells out the extra dough for an actual hd?

Hi all,

Can anyone confirm that, with a new slim 360, you can output audio simultaneously through the optical audio connector *and* through HDMI? I want to confirm that the HDMI will still carry audio *and* video while the 360 is also putting audio out through the optical port, and I can't seem to Google up an answer that uses those words. Looking at buying some headphones, and I'm trying to picture how I want to hook things up with respect to my surround sound receiver. Thanks!

I'll ask again. Is there a game in existence that lets you fire a volley of arrows toward a faraway target?
What do you mean a volley of arrows? Several arrows at once? Or do you mean like a realistic arrow with trajectory and everything?

Diablo and Titan Quest and Dungeon Siege 2 have the former skills in their trees - for the latter, Mount & Blade has realistic archery simulation.

King Arthur World for SNES used archers and catapults to attack monsters and such in a lemmings type of game. Great music too!

Anyone know if the Battlefield 3 Dr Pepper codes will work on a Canadian PSN account? I know you need a Zip Code for a Dr Pepper account and it says "US only" but would like to try.

I can't, but I will mention the Hori 3DS Full Protection Kit (I got mine here).

It's like a screen protector but for the whole console. It doesn't cover every surface but it covers most. I've had mine on since I took it out of the box and there's not a scratch on it. However, I also use a case too.

The clear shells you speak of, I haven't seen any used on a 3DS yet, but the ones for DS Lite just seemed... bad. They were hard to remove and I was always worried they were doing more harm that good, but they may have improved since then...

You can. When I use my stereo, I have to turn down the volume on my tv (there's a small delay with one or the other, so I hear a very slight echo if both are on).

I was playing Cave Story (DSiWare version) and I noticed that quote's colors are different. His hat is blue, the thing on his "ears" is green and his eyes are red. I search for an explanation for this and I didn't find anything.

Anyone knows what is going on?

From NOA's Twitter:

NintendoAmerica Nintendo of America
What do the beach, Old Town and a bunch of Marios have in common?
Keep your eye out on Friday to find out.

What could this be about? Seemed pretty cryptic to me, but maybe I'm being really dumb. Tried to relate it to the Mario games that come out soon, but can't make the connection...

Could just be some event they're holding somewhere.

Question coming from a Silent Hill newcomer:

Should I absolutely start with the first one, or can I skip to the second one? Is the first one important story-wise?

Thanks! :)

the second one doesn't have much to do with the story of the first one. it's pretty much a separate story, but it does hint a lot at stuff that is disclosed in the first game. ie: background about the town, places, etc.

i highly recommend the first one first just so you won't be going from PS2 graphics/controls/etc. to PS1 level. both are spectacular games.

i was just looking at some previews for kingdom of amular reckoning and it seems like all these rpg's have lavish armors and costumes. why is it that no one figured out that some gamers want simple black hooded cloak with a simple design chain mail underneath?

Is there a thread that lists all of the games that have online codes / one use passes?

Believe the Thief character in Trine gets a skill that allows the ability to fire a volley (maybe only 3???) shots at once.

Not required, but it's a fantastic game in its own right and you'll appreciate Arkham City's various improvements even more.

Why haven't you played Arkham Asylum already ? It's a great great game, definitely worth playing if you're planning to get into City, so you have know how on the back story.

Thanks guys :)

Yeah, I bought a bunch of games second-hand and amongst them was Arkham Asylum. Since I was after one particular game in the bundle I didn't really pay attention to the others. I bought Arkham City this week, and just happened to have a look through what else I have when I got home.

I shall play Asylum first then.

Okay, Disney Universe (360) or Mario Sports Mix?

I need a $49.99 title to take up my third slot in Target's B2G1 sale and that's what I've narrowed it down to.

I could also get Mario Party 8 but at this point in time I guess I'll just wait for MP9.

I just bought these games used from a certain local game store, but I didn't notice the '2' in Jade Cocoon 2 until I got home.

My question is, should I play the first installment before this?

Anyone know what's up with these? I couldn't find one for StarFox 3DS and Nintendo didn't reply to my email :/.

Are they still going or is it on a game by game basis? i wants my extra 50 Stars!

What is the best way to prevent the 3DS marks caused by the lower screen?

I've been using the small paper slip it came with like others recommended but I still get them every now and then.

If there are cases or something I wouldn't mind buying them as long as they look kinda cool.

no joke, i use the rubber feet from my 360.

Should I trade in my OG 60GB PS3 for a new one? EB has Uncharted 3 + MW3 (or Skyrim) + 320GB PS3 for $300. I get $100 of trade in for my old one. It's loud, and I'm horrified it will break like so many people I know who use the originals. I still have a PS2 but smoothing is so nice..... argh.... Decide for me.

Yes. You're either going to lose PS2 BC because it breaks, or because it lasts another two years and you get a PS4 that might not have it. Either way it's a short term function you probably don't use all that much.

Good point. Is there anything the new PS3's do that the old ones can't? I know Sony basically ripped out all non-essential capabilities but maybe some fancy new tricks?

Anyone know any good bicycle (BMX, Mountain bike, road bike) games? The only ones I can think of are the ESPN Extreme Games on ps1, California Games on NES...any others? Opinions on the best ones?

All of the above. 1 friend has gears 1of has bf one has both.
Single Player- Gears 3> Battlefield 3
Co-Op - Gears 3> Battlefield 3
Multiplayer- Debatable

It's a tough one. If you want the full package, go with Gears 3.
This is my opinion.
