The sound on my Xbox 360 just suddenly stopped. I didn't change any hardware or anything, it just stopped. Video is fine.

My setup is Xbox 360 --hdmi-->receiver-->hdmi-->HDTV

Help?

The first thing I would do is try swapping in some fresh HDMI cables.

Anyone know any good bicycle (BMX, Mountain bike, road bike) games? The only ones I can think of are the ESPN Extreme Games on ps1, California Games on NES...any others? Opinions on the best ones?

There aren't too many around, especially recently. Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 (GameCube, Playstation 2, Xbox) comes to mind though.

Wikipedia lists a category for Cycling Video Games
, that's probably worth checking out.

I loved Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 on GameCube, you could probably get it for free these days.

Ok, this is weird.

I have my PS3 hooked up as my 'blu-ray' input and my Xbox 360 as my 'dvd' input. When I swapped cables on the console end, so that my Xbox 360 was running on the a new cable to the 'blu-ray' input, it worked fine. When I changed the input on the receiver, so the Xbox 360 was using the new cable into the 'dvd' input, it stopped working again.

So is there something wrong with that specific input?

That's more than likely the case. You won't know for certain without doing some diagnostics, but ports do fail eventually.

That would suck. The Receiver is only like a year old.

Check if it's under warranty. If you bought it with a major credit card, the period for the manufacturer's warranty is usually doubled (ie, the standard manufacturer's warranty is 1 year, but if you bought it with a major credit card the warranty would be 2 years). I'd call in to the manufacturer just to get a ticket started, in case you decide you want to send it in. Customer care can help you get to the root of the problem (diagnostics) and possibly solve it.

Thanks for the help. :)

All of the above. 1 friend has gears 1of has bf one has both.
Well its all in the eye of the beholder but in the style of Danny117's answer, here is my opinion:

Co-op: Gears > Battlefield
Multiplayer: Battlefield > Gears

And I haven't done single player for either B3 or G3 but based on my experiences with B2 and G2 I'll say Battlefield > Gears.

Is there a way to add funds to a Japanese PSN account outside of purchasing a card and adding that? I'm trying to get a hold of that sexy Demon's Souls dynamic theme, but it's JAP PSN only, and it would sort of suck having to pay 3000 yen for a 200 yen theme. Any other smart way anyone could think of to get this to work?

Ive sold my 360 but I need to cancel my 3 month gold subscription.

I know I need to go on xbox.com and use my windows live ID to log in, but I dont remember what it was.

Is there any other way I can cancel it?

So, I ordered the Sonic 1 & 2 ost off of playasia and have a question. What is the reason the music is slower on the megadrive versions of Sonic compared to the Genesis versions? Was it a chip? Also, was it just Sonic that had slow music on the mega drive? Why was the music and levels slowed down? Was this also a thing on the Non American SNES's? One other thing. Was related to some rule/regulation in those areas?

PAL games ran at 50hz, NTSC games ran at 60.

You can try calling customer service, or use the Live Id "forgot my password/log-in" option.

Can anyone tell me why the hell my 360 discs have scratches even though I install them from day one, have it sitting horizontally and have a new xbox? Makes no sense.

Probably the xbox itself. That is why you never want to move the xbox with game in even if turned off.

What's the reason behind that?

The European broadcasting standard, PAL, ran at 50 Hz in 640 x 512. The American equivalent, NTSC, ran at 60 Hz in 640 x 480. Before the mid nineties, almost every tv was made to either of these specs as they were intended to be used for local tv broadcasts and nothing else, unlike today where a global market filled with competing media and standards has made tv manufacturers put in support for many different refresh rates and resolution (although the latter never was a problem on CRTs).

So because PAL games ran at ~83% percent of the speed of an NTSC game, a straight port would be considerably slower. Of course, properly optimize the game for the lower refresh rate and you wouldn't notice the difference, but seeing as Europe was treated as a third rate swamp at the time (not bitter), this hardly ever happened.

PAL *televisions* run at 50Hz (and 625 lines), while NTSC run at 60Hz (and 525 lines). Televisions in Europe that can handle 60Hz are a fairly new thing (Not *very* new; I'm pretty sure our family had a TV in the 90s which was just fine with it. But it wasn't part of the original PAL specification). As such, the shoddiest PAL ports run slowly *and* have big borders at the edges of the screen.

In the Megadrive, it's possible to wire up a switch to allow a 50/60Hz toggle; I've adapted mine to do so. Makes playing games *so* much more acceptable.

Edit: That said, just realised you might be talking about the *japanese* Megadrive rather than the European ones. If that's the case... not quite sure what you're driving at. I'd imagine the OSTs you got from Play-Asia would be from the Japanese version, and as such really ought to have the full-speed music.

Oh god, I had almost repressed all memories of the horrible borders. Remember being so disappointed by Final Fantasy X having huge borders...

Fuuuuuuu...I remember this. Started importing all my games after that.

By the way, does anyone know where i can get the Chinese version of Final Fantasy XIII (Japanese Audio, Chinese/English text) apart from Ebay where i have only found one seller so far?

Does anyone actually play games with both their middle and index fingers on the shoulder buttons?
I usually don't but some game require it. Specifically I remember MGS3 requiring it at parts... like when you wanted to lie prone but peek up while scoping with the sniper rifle.

Warhawk to, when flying: R2 was gas, L2 was Airbrake, and holding them together was required for Power-Sliding but you needed to also press L1 and R1 for firing your weapons. So unless you wanted to slow down every time you fired your gun or not be able to drop Chaff while Air Dodging you had to contort your hands around the controller.

Seem to be having trouble getting a definitive answer for this in the proper BF3 thread as it moves too quickly. I and some others are looking for whether there is an AA emplacement on the USS Essex on maps where it appears. I have asked if there was a distinction between the PS3 and PC version for this question, but everyone just assures us that it is there somewhere, despite many futile attempts to find it.

2 questions:

1: If I am in the US and I Steam Gift someone a game in Austrailia, will there be any issues due to region or currency conversion, or can they just input the code no problem?

2: I can't think of the word when an enemy's motions basically tell you what attack they are going to do. Like Punch Out... it's something like "telegraph their attack" but that is not the phrase.

  1. Yes, you can gift games from other regions just fine. Some of the codes you buy from certain dubious websites are region-locked.
  2. "Tells" is the word you're looking for.

Battlefield 3 (360) question - is their a way to change your kit/apperance for the Russian side other than in the middle of a live game?

Does Alice:Madness Returns need an EA account to play? I deleted my EA account about a month ago and I really don't want to make a new one.

Can you use Lovefilm to stream movies to the Wii or 360 like you can with the PS3? All I can find on the streaming for the Wii is news articles saying they plan on doing it but these articles are from early 2010.

question.

if I am watching cable TV and turn my 360 on, but continue to watch TV for a few minutes, THEN I switch to the HDMI input, the 360 is never just sitting at the main menu ready to go. When I switch to HDMI, it's like it's turning the 360 on and I see the boot up.

The time doesn't matter. I could turn the 360 on while watching TV, wait an hour, and then switch to HDMI, but it's always like the 360 is JUST turning on when I switch over to HDMI.

why is this? something to do with HDMI? Not a big deal as the 360 boots up in like 10 seconds, but I always wondered why it does this.

I have noticed the same thing. I'm guessing that the Xbox doesn't turn on until it detects a display.

I just bought these games used from a certain local game store, but I didn't notice the '2' in Jade Cocoon 2 until I got home.

My question is, should I play the first installment before this?

You don't have to. Storywise everything you need to know is explained. Plus Jade Cocoon 2 is much much better than the original. FYI, the game has a couple minor glitches causing a couple of the creature skills to be unobtainable. But if you are playing the game from a HD/USB drive its possible to find a patch on the net that adds the missing skills back.

Also, the USB ports on my PS3 quit working. My PS3 is still under warranty but I can't find the receipt. Sony wants to charge me $99 to fix the ports. Any way I can get Sony to recognize my system is still under warranty or some other way I can get the system fixed for less?

This is a really quite subjective question, but I'm combining a purchase with someone else tomorrow at Kmart to get some coupons, and I only really can afford one game or the other while he gets another one. I was originally planning to get Skyrim for PS3, but thinking deeply about it, I figure maybe I should just wait a while and get it for PC, since obviously that's the only way I'd ever get to try out mods. (Unfortunately Kmart doesn't carry the PC version of Skyrim.) I could get MW3 instead, but I'm pretty satisfied with BF3 right now. I don't imagine MW3 or BF3 were going to get nearly the bevy of mods that Skyrim would get on PC anyway. I imagine if I wait for a while Skyrim would be pretty cheap on a Steam sale at some point in the next year or two. I guess what I'm asking is: is anyone getting Skyrim on console? Even if I'm going console, would Skyrim probably be the much more worthwhile game over MW3? (I know, comparing apples and oranges.) And before anyone suggests using the coupons on the other game, the coupon is already intended for the Skyward Sword bundle.

Is it possible to connect a SNES to a TV which only has twin lead output?

Are you talking about the TV having two screws in the back? If so, then yes you can.

Look for a matching transformer, as Radio Shack should have these.

So my son has recently become addicted to Pokemon Heart Gold. I know absolutely nothing about Pokemon games.

• He wants to get Pokemon Heart Silver. Is that the exact same game but with a different final boss?
• What kind of cheats do Action Replays have for Heart Gold if any? And can you use it with a 3DS?
• Are there any other good Pokemon games he should have for his DS or 3DS?

Your son means "Soul Silver." It's the same game but with different Pokemon to obtain. Action Replay lets you generate any Pokemon into the game's storage system, duplicate items, manipulate levels of your team, etc. I have no clue if it's 3DS-compatible, but until I'm proven otherwise I'll say "no."

As for other Pokemon games, there are Black/White. And if he wants to try something different, get him one of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. They're roguelikes with a Pokemon coat of paint.

I remember there was this artwork of a steampunk zelda. With link on a motorbike. Does anyone know where I can find it?
