This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Any Gaffers live in Canada, specifically Alberta, and have gone to school there for games design or animation? Which school did you choose, and did you land a job right after?

Hey guys. I need to work on something on my computer but there is too much noise around me, discussions and stuff. I need to listen to music not to get annoyed but I can't concentrate when there are lyrics.

So I was thinking about VG music. Is there a free grooveshark-like website specialized in VG music streaming?

Yet another Pokémon question, but this one is *significantly* more stupid than the previous ones. Still, it's nagging me.

I'm playing through Fire Red now, after all those previous posts, and I'm wandering through Viridian Forest, and I encounter wild Kakunas and Metapods.

How exactly does a wild Kakuna/Metapod come about? They didn't evolve from Weedle/Caterpie because they haven't retained those offensive moves. They can't very easily mate to form fresh offspring because of what they are, so... where'd they come from?

Can I stick a zip drive into the USB port of my PS3 Slim and copy all my saves to it? I want to have backups just in case the thing dies. I've had it for about three years already.

i bought a supposedly new 3ds xl from best buy. it has a personal mii made already and 4 characters in the streetpass mii plaza (meet dates were like 14-22 days ago). is this how its supposed to be or is it actually used?

edit: i'm just going to return it.

Short version: Leave your system closed at the Home menu (wireless on of course), and you'll exchange Miis and greetings with people around you. Useful if you're going out in public. You get Miis and you can use them in Find Mii and Puzzle Swap in your Mii Streetpass Plaza. I think it's neat to go to theme parks, concerts, even out shopping, and see where people are from. It's a nice little feature.

Edit: I read it again. Sounds like someone used it. Possibly returned it later and BB sold it back as "new" because retailers never check these things, ever.

Thanks. I know what the Mii Streetpass Plaza is, but I bought a new one that already has some Miis in it. I'm guessing it's probably been opened and turned on already maybe by a Best Buy employee. So I'm just going to return it just to be safe.

You absolutely can, and I recommend you do this regularly. Certain games have protected Save Data that may only be copied to Cloud Storage.

Okay, this may sound really really stupid (perfect thread I guess). I've been thinking for the past couple of weeks, with PS4 and 720 (or whatever their names will be) inevitably having Blu Ray as the disc format, what will happen in regards to PCs? Will they soon phase out DVD to go with Blu ray?

Guess, nobody can say for sure. Told you it was stupid. ¬_¬

Are there any games that are self-aware of their superflat qualities as defined by Takashi Murakami?
Obviously there are plenty of japanese games that express the aesthetic, but I'm interested in seeing games that comment on it.

I've got a year of PS+ from my recent super slim buy, and I'm curious if I can keep the games once my subscription expires. I rarely ever go online with my PS3, so if I were download them, disconnect it from the Internet, and kept pushing the system clock back, would I be able to play them forever?

My answer is pretty stupid too but...

I don't even have an optical drive in my PC and I haven't for about 6 years. They might make physical discs in Blu Ray but you hardly ever have to keep the disc in for PC games any more so it might be cheaper for them to just keep PC games on several DVDs like they do now.

I believe the game file itself has a time-release "deletion" imbedded in it (this is only my speculation). I had downloaded Bloodrayne: Betrayal via a PS+ Free Game offer. When my subscription expired, my game file reverted to the demo (basically, the unlock key was deleted automatically).

I thought about this as a possible answer myself. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm having a really hard time beating Mega Man 10. Does this mean I am a bitch?

Are there any sites out there with controller settings for something like joy2key for emulating GTA San Andreas console controls on PC? That are actually worthwhile and works well? I couldn't get the PC version to be enjoyable by myself.

Finally started Lollipop Chainsaw tonight, and how do I look up Juliet's skirt to collect that achievement?

She's legal. Shut up.

Last generation was the same situation. PS2 and Xbox had DVD, on PC CD drives were still common.
As a result, PC ports often were on several CDs, sometimes even up 6 CDs. Only years later, when DVD drives were more common, games started to be on DVDs as well.
Probably the same will happen next gen.
More interesting could be how this might affect digital downloads, when games sizes start to rise.

Just stand still and move the camera down either from behind or up front until she tries to cover with her hands.

Should I feel embarrassed that I asked how to look up the skirt of a video game character?

Still, this won't be the most embarrassing achievement on my gamercard.

I have one, though please don't laugh at me for asking.

In regards to resolution (of a TV or monitor)

A screen on either can only display at the resolution of the panel right? So something displayed in 720p on a 1080p TV will always actually be showing 720p upscaled to the size of the panel, meaning it is stretched to fit. Firstly this is correct yes?

So why do monitors not appear to do this? If I display something in a lower res than my panel on a TV, without upscaling, then I have a border around the picture of black.

But, I can never achieve this on a monitor, only a TV, which is why I ask the above. I can never get any monitor to NOT upscale something to the full picture, giving me that border. Moreover, a monitors res can be much higher, but never looks streched at a res lower than the panel in the same way as a TV.

So...why is it different. I don't understand :(

Do they still sell wired 360 controllers by MS?

I've looked in all the local stores and can only find wireless, or third party stuff. Looking online, most retailers have been "Sold Out" for over a month now.

I bought a used Dsi XL, and want to know more about the online features it holds.
Do I need to create an online account, similar to PSN? Is there somewhere I go for demos?

How does online multiplayer work?

Thanks.
