My mom is getting a Nissan 370Z. This is good news for me, because I get to take over the Audi TT she has now.

It looks close to this color now, but darker. Anyhow, it has some scratches and stuff so I'm going to paint it.

What color should I paint the Audi?[/B] Want some opinions. I kind of want a non-factory color so it's more original and awesome. I was thinking something like off-white, or go in a more fast-and-furious direction and do lime green.

Matte silver is the proper colour of an Audi TT. I would sell the TT if I were you and buy something else.

I'm really tempted to say fuck 'em, they're not worth being friends with if they're racist, especially if they're judging you because of it. But really, it's up to you to decide how much of a big deal it is - I know if some of the friends I'd had my entire life turned out to be hugely racist it would still be a difficult decision even if the logical part of me was telling me to cut him out.

If you wait it out it could be really awkward for a long time. Your friends aren't going to get some sense in them overnight. If it comes down to it, though, it's their problem entirely. You need to figure out whether them hating your girlfriend for no good reason is still worth being friends with them for, and if it isn't, if this girl is worth losing your friends over (or, again, if they're worth having as friends now you know how bigoted they are).

I'd recommend maybe going out with your girlfriend and only one of your friends to try and stimulate a little more conversation between them - I'm not sure you're going to change their minds, but if you want to keep both your girlfriend and your friends you'll have to try and push a change of opinion.



EDIT: Uh, I guess I came in here to ask a question. :S Can anyone recommend any video capture apps for the iPhone 3G (not 3GS)? Price isn't an issue as I have iTunes credit - I'm mainly concerned with video quality and battery consumption. It doesn't need to have any upload features or anything - if it can take video and save it to the library that's all I need.

Abandon vehicles always seem to have something pinched in the driver's side window; an old towel or shopping back or something. The only thing I can think of is that it's supposed to get blown around in the wind and somehow catch the attention of other drivers so they don't hit it, but that can't be it, can it?

If they're covering the window, it's probably cuz someone is/was living in it. If it's just randomly caught in the door, I don't know, I never noticed that before.

In my experience some guys are always standoffish to a friend's new girl at first. And everyone has racist attitudes on some level, even if they know it's wrong and actively fight it.

But even if they are racist, if they're your friends, they should support you and try to get to know her. If they don't come around soon, drop em. They are not just racist, they are shitty friends.

Bottom line: Do you really care about your girlfriend? If you do and the only reason your friends can muster up about why they shun her is "racism," then fuck 'em. That's not acceptable. It's cliche to say "you don't need friends who can't accept your girlfriend" but that ignores the reality that sometimes they can provide a different perspective to your relationship that you're perhaps blind to. But if all they're providing is "b-b-but she's half-black!" that's not good enough.

I like the car a lot so I don't want to sell it, I already have my own car but the TT has always been my favorite and I've always wanted it.

I just meant "racist" in terms of being prejudiced against someone based on race, whether it be conscious or not. Not necessarily a conscious belief system. I think everyone, at least on a subconscious level, makes assumptions based on appearance, including "race" ("race" in quotes because it's an artificial classification).

I've been seeing this girl for about a month now, things are going very well and she's spending every night at my place. I'm Puerto Rican and she's half-black / half-Puerto Rican, but looks mostly black.

I'm friends with a bunch of Puerto Ricans here in North Dakota, and we get together every so often. The problem is, a lot of them are racist against blacks; it's a thing I saw a lot on the island and an attitude that they've brought up here to the states. I usually don't care about this too much, and have brought her to our parties and stuff... although she usually gets ignored by my friends.

There is another party going on tonight, and she was hesitant to go with me because she says she gets bored quickly because no one talks to her (besides me of course). She told me that she is willing to go to the party under the condition that her friend, who is also black, goes with her. I said "sure".

My dilemma is... ever since I started bringing her to parties I noticed my friends' attitude towards me changed a bit. Like I get this feeling they view me somehow as "less" of a man/Puerto Rican/whatever for dating a black woman. Now I feel that if I bring her and her friend today, we are all going to be somewhat shunned from the group.

Now while the most likely solution would be not to go, I already told her that she should come with her friend. I would need a pretty good excuse to do this.

Besides the racism, I have a lot in common with these friends and we have shared some pretty good times. I would find new friends, but that's kind of hard to do here (I'm a military officer, most of the people here are enlisted and I'm not supposed to fraternize, besides this is freaking North Dakota and not too many people around).

Sorry for the long post, but any advice you could give me would be appreciated.

I'm probably totally wrong on this, but I think it's a way to open the window so you can unlock the car.

I remember YEARS ago my mom locked her keys in the car and didn't have a spare, so she called some people to come get the door open. They somehow got the window down enough to stick towels in the gap, then from there somehow got the window down so they could unlock the door from the inside.

I have no idea how they did it, but I assume cops or the city or something is "toweling" these abandoned cars so that tow trucks can get inside to take them away.

A related question is - what's a good way to come up with / store passwords?

I know I can't make a computer completely hack proof, but I want to make it too much effort for the average scam artist to bother decrypting, i.e., my credit card number

That's a tough one. I'm against bigotry of all kinds but a month is a little too short a period of time to seriously consider ditching your friends over a girl. There is a tactful way to have it both ways, but it requires that you stand up for your girl and confront your friends despite your their protestations. If they are friends worth keeping, they'll eventually have to respect your decision. You make your position known to them and stand firm. If they continue to treat you and your girl poorly despite your most earnest wishes, consider finding better friends.

You seem like a genuinely good guy. If you are serious about your girl I think you'll figure it out. Good luck!

I had the RC which is expiring (I'm pretty sure it was 32bit) and I'm running it on a MacBook Pro via Bootcamp.

Does 64bit v. 32bit make a difference in which applications I can run?

I'm going to be using it to run graphics software mainly and maybe use it for a PSX emulator. The most intense gaming I will do will likely be on STEAM.

How much RAM do you have? If it's 4gb or more, you'll want 64bit. If you don't and you might upgrade in the future, stick with 64bit.

Okay, I want to paint the edges of my ping pong-table with color that glows in the dark. But I suck at google, where I only found colors that need to be charged by day light...and I dont have the space to let the table stay outside all day.

Anyone have an idea which kind of color I need and where to get?

I think unless you're going for a radioactive or blacklight-using solution, any glow-in-the-dark paint is going to need to charge in the light. Sunlight is apparently most effective, but indoor lighting can do the trick, too, as long as you're not doing something like only leaving the lights on for 3 minutes and hoping for much glow effect afterward.

I just recently got introduced to glowinc.com which sells a lot of glow-in-the-dark stuff. I haven't tried their paint yet, but the powder and rocks I got with a similar "brightness rating" I'm pretty happy with. The glow definitely goes down after a few minutes, but once my eyes are adjusted to the dark they're still visible for hours.

On the forums there people talk about using UV lights to better "charge" their glow-in-the-dark materials, but in my brief recent search I didn't see much that seemed extremely cheap and hassle-free. I don't want to go wall-mounting anything.

3G is great but not WiFi great. You will definitely notice the difference. The one I notice the most is packet delay while using 3G.

This is unnecessary because the majority of Credit Card theft happens outside of the users control. Rarely do thieves get CC info from hacking home computers.
I use to work for a company processing work orders and all of the customers CC info was for anyone in the company to see in the Work Order notes. Another company I did contract work for got a contract with a major national bank to swap out all of their CC readers with a newer locking model because the old units were very easy to steal. The thieves would steal one, then modify it and use it to replace another good unit with. I guess they over looked the fact that it was probably their own employees because what customer has time to steal these things while the bank is open.

Actually, it's has to do with not getting your car towed. My Dad was a police officer and he's always told us that you're supposed to put something white out of your window to indicate that the car has broken down and that you're getting help so you don't want them to tow you away. If a car doesn't have anything like a towel hanging out the window, police assume it's been abandoned and call for a tow truck. If there is a towel, I believe around here they usually give you about 24 hours to get it off the side of the road, but if it's still there the next day they have it towed.

Case in point, my friend's car broke down a year ago she didn't put anything in the window. It was towed two hours later. Recently, it broke down again, she put a towel in the window, it was there twelve hours later.
