I made a ham and american cheese sandwich on multigrain bread with mayo and mustard at around 3PM yesterday. It is now 3AM, exactly 12 hours later and I just noticed exactly one half of the sandwich still remains. The bread is pretty hard, but it still smells fine enough.

Good to eat? y/n/maybe?

Mayo has eggs in it, right? I wouldn't do it.

I spilled a fair amount of water on my keyboard.

To my surprise, it still worked. However, after a few hours, the keys started getting sticky, hard-to-press. I decided to throw some more water between the keys. It worked, the keys were fine again. A few hours later, they start to get sticky again.

I'm caught in this cycle, where every few hours I have to throw water in my keyboard. Any ideas? I'm not sure if I can open this beast up. Will WD-40 do the trick? Hmm.

Dust, shit, crumbs, and other nasties in your keyboard were all brought to life with the water at once. Either wait for it to all dry out, or pop the keys off and clean the damned thing.

Anyone still got the link to the gaf thread where they discussed about what would happen to the internet in case of a massive world war or something like that? They were talking about some reeeally interesting stuff and how the internet is set up over the world.

With regards to statute of limitations :

If somebody commits a crime and long enough time passes for the statute of limitiation to set in.

Can this person confess to said crime without legal repercussions?

GAF, is there a way (preferably on the Interwebs) to know on which runway at a given airport a commercial aircraft will land? I'm especially thinking of Frankfurt - Beijing LH720, which is operated with a big-ass A380.

It depends a lot (from my experience) of the terminal the plane is going to dock. Plane don't usualy land in the far opposite side of the aiport.

So the other night I heard my frito lay scoops bag crinkling in the living room while I was trying to fall asleep. I go out there just in time to spot a mouse go flying off my bag and run off behind the fridge.
Yesterday I set up some human mouse traps in the house but the store didn't sell any bait for it.
So I stood in front of the various aisles of the quickie mart staring at the various foods trying to figure out what to use as bait. I knew peanut butter worked, but I was determined to be stubborn and try something different.
Suddenly a little voice in my head said, "Mice like ding dongs, get some ding dongs."

So I did.

Turns out mice don't like ding dongs. I have no idea how I came to the conclusion they do.

So my question is, besides peanut butter and the cliche'd "cheese" is there anything gaf recommends to use to lure the mouse into the trap?
try some of those small marshmallows.

I'd agree for most planes, but here this is the big one :p

In the case of the A380 the runway has to be rated for the plane due to its sheer size and weight (as said weekend_warrior). I browsed some articles and found that only the newest runway at the Beijing Airport seems to be rated for it. A quick look in Google Earth showed which one was the newest one and while for Lufthansa this runway (most eastern one) is the closest to the corresponding terminal (#3).

In the case of Air France (who doesn't operate any A380 to Beijing, but let's suppose), that'd be terminal 2, which is on the west side of the airport (so that the plane would have to first pass by terminal 3, cross another runway and then reach terminal 2).

LSD Lion f'sho. Then again, if the bear knows drunken first, it's over for the lion.

Bear would have no chance. Sober the lion would win anyway, why would get it drunk and making it fight a super lion change that?

So what does GAF use when it comes to great functional/innovative/cool CD/DVD cases? The ones you flip through.

I need a bigger one and don't know if there's a market for these things or where to start looking. :)

I honestly still use the one that came with the original Playstation.

Yes for misdemeanors. Certain felony crimes like rape and murder don't have a statute of limitations though. And I'm not sure why someone would confess to a misdemeanor that happened a long time ago.

Rape does have a statute of limitations.

Since we are in the Stupid Questions thread: Why does rape have a statute of limitations? And why does any law have that built-in "forget about it!" period? I understand not actively trying to catch a criminal decades after the fact, but why grant amnesty at all?

Chocolate, chocolate spread, most other sweet things. Cheese not so much.

What the hell is going on with my laptop battery? I turned it on this morning after having it plugged in all night, then about 5 minutes later of running on the battery it was already at 48%. Then it dropped at a reasonable rate to 43%. I check it 10-15min later and it went up to 58%! Now it's 56% so I guess it's going down again. I also don't think it charges properly when it's on. If I plug it in it will say "plugged in, not charging." I think it only charges in little spurts at a time unless I turn it off. My laptop is an HP G61.

Do you do this often? It's a sure-fire way of killing your battery very quickly.

Well, fuck :P Goddamn the manufacturer for making me learn this the hard way. I had battery problems with my last laptop so I made sure to read everything about the battery for this one and there was no mention of that :( So I guess the damage is already done? Thanks for the reply.

That's alright. My battery is also dead because I did this too. The laptop only lasts about 10 minutes. You can buy battery replacements from your laptop's manufacturer.

I've had my laptop battery plugged in every night for the past two years and have not noticed any loss of capacity.

Another laptop, another set of burned fingers. Why don't they make a fucking laptop that is cool enough to, say, use in your fucking lap?

Buy a fan/mat/stand to go underneath (sad that you'd have to in the first place, but there it is).

On that note, has anyone ever had a trackpad shock you?

My question:

Has the release date been announced for Breaking Bad season 3 blu ray? I don't won't to google it in case of spoilers, but I'm halfway through season 2 and I don't wanna stop.

sticking with the laptop theme.

I'm buying a new 12 cell battery for my laptop. So say I have the laptop plugged in, and the battery is in the laptop as well. Is the battery being used at all? Am I wearing out my battery even though the laptop is plugged in?

Illustrator help, please!

Is there a way to select a multiple objects and make them all the same size? Like a "make every selected object the same height as this one object" function? I'm just importing some postscripts and want to resize them all.

Thanks.

Just saw this at the bottom of the page:

"Most users ever online was 13,071, 03-02-2008 at 07:57 AM."

What happened on that day?

No it's safe, it'll stop charging at 100%, but for proper maintenance you should go through at least one or two full charge/discharge cycle per month. (Also, keep in mind that running the battery down to 50% on two separate occasions will count as one full discharge cycle).

Did Google get updated today? The search results are now centered in the middle of my screen instead of being on the left.

If I own a game, and the disc cracks, and I download an ISO off of teh internets, is it technically piracy since I own the disc? My Fallout 3 disc has a crack in it. =(

Is there a way to get iTunes or Zune podcast feeds in Google Reader? There's a podcast I want to subscribe to but they don't offer RSS.

If I'm cooking something that requires me to touch raw meat, I'll always make sure I wash my hands afterwards (of course) but my question is - should you use soap? I normally do, but whenever I watch cookery programs they almost always just give their hands a quick rinse and that's it.

The law says yes, but morally pretty much everyone on the internet says its ok. Cant you use the CD-Key and activate it on STEAM?
