Smart casual, no tie, unbuttoned shirt at the top. Good luck.

Thanks, I'm gonna need it. I'm fat and and definitely not good looking, I need all the help I can get. Only if I was a girl with big ass titties.

Why does youtube always stutter when I'm watching videos? Every video I watch, I get a good half-second pause every 5-10 seconds or so. And I'm not talking buffering here - this is for videos that have completely finished downloading. It's very annoying. Is this the fault of youtube, my browser, my computer, or what?

Dude, I know this is noobish but what is the easiest way for me to find my own post history, here on GAF? I've been having troubles, for some reason, finding an easier way than finding one of my old posts in another thread and clicking on my own name. I know there is a better way than this, what is it?

Why do Americans hate soccer?

It is the No.1 sport in the world you know...and for good reasons.

Some say it is not big in the US because TV stations can't make profit allowing a 45min half time without commercials, and also due to the fact of short attention span of American viewers...hence low broadcasting low acceptance. I don't know about that, but it does seem that the sports that are favourites of America have a lot of points scored per match

For a football(soccer) game, it takes at least 90 min and sometimes without even one goal(not like in the movie), but it's not dull, far from it, it takes extreme skills and physical fitness and the suspense building up is where the fun is.

I think it's for a few reasons, some more legitimate than others:

1) Soccer is a European import, coming after the established 4 major sports. It wasn't created/popularized in America, so they/we don't identify with it. It might also be a case of American egotism; it can't be the best and most popular sport in the world because the greatest country on earth didn't accept it.

2) Lots of sports fans love citing team and player statistics. With Soccer there's only goals/assists scored, wins/draws/losses and a goalie's Goals Against Average

3) It takes some experience to recognize skill. I love watching scoring chances develop, but the ridiculously creative aspect is lost on people who have never played it. Hence "boring."

4) MLS. I enjoy watching the league, but the level of play isn't really equal to the other sports. In the MLB, NHL, NBA, and NFL, you get the highest club level available. These are premier leagues with the vast majority of talent in that sport. I don't really know any leagues outside the major European ones (England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France) but MLS isn't anywhere close to these

5) Strength really isn't a factor. Football players pride themselves on their lifting skills, baseball players work their upper body to smash baseballs 400+ feet, inside NBA players need strength to dominate in the paint, and hockey players need to be able to check the shit out of people. In soccer, strength can maybe keep you up from would be tackles, but you can get by with just speed and finesse as your asset. There are some positions in other sports that don't need to have intimidating body sizes, but it's not like soccer.

5.5) Diving is ruining the image of soccer players, making them appear weak and girly. Actually, that's what a lot of Americans think soccer is. A sport for the weak, or as Hank Hill once said, "Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking."

6) It shares the season with American Football, which has a really big presence in most High Schools. It's a really popular youth sport with kids, but a lot of them seem to "grow out of it" because of its social stigma

7) Obvious one, low scoring. No other major sport is as consistently low scoring as Soccer. And ending on Draws? Another strike against it.

There might be more, but that's a good overview.

My understanding is the Americans created very few of the sports which are popular there. I don't see how football's origins are a factor.

I'm not American but as a latin that enjoys american sports before soccer (might be because soccer was never really popular in Venezuela until this decade although i watched it before) My complain is that the level from game to game varies a LOT, not every team can be FC Barcelona and play mastefully and even then there's always a team that plays extra defensively. The amount of 1-0 0-0 games with LOW scoring chances is a turn off, the chances are that if an American watches a random soccer game it will be a boring one so i can see why most of them aren't encouraged to watch more.
That said, i LOVE going to the stadium for soccer, 100% better than TV.

I used created/popularized for a reason.

Basketball was created in the United States, Baseball's primitive form started in England, but wasn't the same game after it came to the USA, Hockey was formed in Canada (which is pretty close to the States), and American Football was an offshoot of Rugby, again from England

Soccer was developed and fully realized in Europe, unlike any of the other major American sports. Whether or not it was an important factor in the late 19th century is debatable, but now, it definitely seems like the outcast in American sports

I like getting the little plastic figures that triple in size after sitting in water for a few days. But what's the generic term for that stuff, beyond plastic that grows in water?

So here's a weird one: why doesn't Google like my enter key? I can 'enter' to my heart's content in every program, on every website and form, but if I type something into Google and hit enter, nothing happens... I have to click the search button. It's like this on the main page, on a search results page, all of them! What the hell? It seems to have started after they did their most recent update to the search suggestions feature a week or so ago.

It's some sort of foam that has had all the air essentially sucked out of it... Don't know what it's called, though. Also, a comically unhelpful WikiAnswers link I came across:

Q: What are [these toys] made of?
A: They are sea monkeys.

Oh, Wiki, you ignorant slut.

Search for your own name in forum search "by post".

Also, use auto-subscribe.

Hey, I come from Puerto Rico, the craddle of reggueatton. Fuck that shit. Really. It's catchy, but it takes no talent to make one. It's also been a plague with many young people looking hipster, trying to look badass, etc. That people annoy me to no end. I enjoy some of it, but thankfully its a dying trend right now. I hope it just disappears for the sake of the world and this island :lol At least I am not exposed to it a lot in my University. The grades and scores required to enter it are the highest, most of the "hipsters" don't make it.

I just sounded like an elitist and a douche, but it pisses me off really :lol You go to a party.. BAM REGGUEATTON. At least for parties its pumping music.

Porn question: do black men have smaller ejaculations than white men, or is it simply thicker or something? I've noticed it for years in porn, and it just seems odd to me that men who generally have larger equipment produce less.

Was playing Madden09 with some friends the other day and as a European I know next to nothing about the sport and it struck me as weird that after every touch-down I got a field kick that was impossible to miss. Why give me the additional field goal if it's not possible to miss or is Madden09 simply misrepresenting the ease of the additional field goal?

I've never played football, but as someone who has watched a decent amount on TV over the years, it's entirely possible to miss the field goal kick or have it blocked by the team on defense...

Is it possible in Madden09 though? I hit the stick right to left and I still made it. And we couldn't figure any way for the defense to break through or block it successfully. :\

In American Football it's very rare for someone to miss the extra point from a field goal. The idea is that the extra 1 point is easy to get, but going for the 2 is riskier. I believe it's possible to have the kick blocked in Madden, but it would happen very rarely.

How do you 'go for 2' though? The set-up to the field goal after the touch-down was very automatic I think...

you just choose another formation rather than clicking on field goal

I want to get my dad an iPhone for fathers day, but I keep hearing a new version will be coming out.

Anyone have an idea when it will be unveiled/sold?

Two question

How do you know if your going bald? Like difference between normal hair loss and balding

2nd, something stupid I always wonder. If you make a porn tape when your under 18, and keep it. Then get to 18. Are you technically holding pedo porn then? :lol

You don't even have to keep it until you're of age. There have been minors charged (or officials have attempted to charge) for sending/receiving nude photos of other minors on their cell phones.

I found my dad's old barbell weights in the garage. They have probably been sitting there for 10, 15 years and they've gathered a good bit of rust. Should I worry about tetanus? I know rusty metal != tetanus always, but it's still bothering me.

Pretty sure porn and reality are not directly related.

Us white guys can be just as big too!

I've only seen like three black guys in porn who produce anything more than a small amount of semen, honestly. So it just seems very surprising that no matter how big they are, it's almost like it's just... a drop or two. But the smaller black dicks produce just as much (or little, depending on how you want to look at it).

I need a black guy to answer this, stat!

There was a thread a while ago that had a website that would find items on amazon to fill out your order so you would get free shipping with prime. I can't find the thread, so does anyone know what the website was?

Do you really never unlearn how to ride a bike once you've learned how to? I literally haven't ridden a bike in 10+ years and I've been entertaining the idea of buying one and riding it. Will I have to learn to ride it all over again, or is it just like breathing?

Funny you should ask this. I just rode a bike for the first time in about a good 6-7 years the other day.

I still remembered the motions of it but my balance was a bit off. I eventually warmed up to it within a half hour and was riding around fine. You'll most likely be a little rusty but overall won't forget. The shop owner said they had a guy come in, hadn't ridden a bike in 25 years, guy did fine.

Nice! I will definitely buy a bike now. Save me some gas money by riding the bike to places within reasonable distance.

Yep! You will never forget how to ride a bike. I don't know why, but it just sticks there in your mind.
