I did this in OpenOffice (well, a comparable task) a couple of weeks ago, and as far as I remember, the trick was making the program believe your ranges were strings rather than numbers. Try putting those values within quotation marks?

Nope, didn't help... to be honest I'm probably doing something wrong and your instructions are right, Excel 2003 was fine for plotting but 2007 onwards has just been a nightmare and I don't understand it.

I'm having lots of trouble installing new drivers for my nvidia card on my laptop, running Win7.
It's a Geforce 9500M GS, really old driver version, something like 179.82

I used their automated thingy on their website to choose the right drivers for me, downloaded them. Every time I try to install the new drivers, the bar goes realllllly slowly until about 1/5th of the bar is filled, then the install fails. No error message, only that the drivers were not installed.

Now that the install failed, Windows automatically installed drivers for the Geforce 9400M, and uses those instead. I'm confused. It's still the old version.

How the hell can I install the drivers for my real card, the 9500M GS, without everything crapping up?

(if there's a better thread for this, please tell me!)

Why use the automated tool if you know what card you have?
http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-64bit-267.76-whql-driver.html

That there is the W7 x64 driver for your card.

Should have specified that I downloaded this and tried installing before using the automated tool (that brought me to the same page).

The installation just doesn't work. As I said, the install bar fills up to about 1/5th then it just says "Install failed".
Just noticed something on the page however:
Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release.

Gonna check if this applies to me.
EDIT: Andddd it does. Either I stick with old drivers or I stop Hybrid Power and install new drivers. What would be best?

Is there a photo anywhere on the internet of a man offering someone else their seat on a bus? I could really do with it for some coursework. I tried a bunch of different searches on Google but came up with nothing.

Someone please help me because I'm having an absolutely hellish time with Excel 2010.

I want to plot a graph of petrol price on the x-axis, with relative frequency density on the y-axis (a normalised histogram). It doesn't matter what's on the x and y, the point is that it's 2 corresponding sets of values. So far, so good... but the x-axis is continuous. In other words, there is a y value for a range of x values.

e.g. Petrol price is 2.50-2.60 dollars, and the corresponding y value is 1.

Excel just doesn't want to let me do this.

This is the sort of thing I want:

If someone is so kind as to help me, if it's easier for you to just make it than telling me how to do it, I can just give you the data.

Thanks!

I see your problem. Comic Sans!

What brand is the notebook? I know that for Sony and Toshiba you need to check the manufacturer's site. Probably still an outdated driver, but maybe newer than what you have.

So, I came across these unreleased Cartoon Network promo toys in a thrift store. I was able to identify most of the characters after some research but these 5 have alluded me. Any help into their names and shows they are on would be great. Thanks in advance.

I seem to be having some issues with staying connected to the PSN while using Netflix. It doesn't always happen, but a majority of the time whatever I'm watching will stop and I will be logged out of the PSN with an 8002AD23 error message. Does anyone know exactly what this is and how to fix it? It's infuriating trying to watch an episode of Twin Peaks when I have to shut down my console and start Netflix again every five minutes.

Question for the Americans of the forum.

So you get people classed as African-American, Native American, Latino-American etc etc.

Has the term European-American ever been in popular use?(I understand you get country specific terms like Irish-Amer etc)

Oh and when does a religion become classed as mythology?

Guessing here but I'd assume its because the light reflects off the bottom of the clouds? That doesn't apply to where I live however because I'm in the middle of nowhere so its only light out at night when the moon is visible.

We just use African American and Native American. We don't use Latino-American (just Hispanic) or any European American names .. we just use Caucasian for them.

There's Anglo American.

Also, on our loan documents we have race options of White Hispanic and White non-Hispanic on government fprms.

But he/she is asking about popular use and I've never heard anyone refer to themselves or anyone else as Anglo American.
Anglo-american is pretty popular, probably third I guess to white and caucasian.

I don't refer to myself as African American though. It's so much easier to say black & I don't get the offense anyway.

What are some good NYC-centric forums? So much shit goes on this city, but I don't want to clutter GAF with threads on the city.

Actually, would it be alright to have a NYC-Age thread?

Why does it say that neogaf is down if you go to neogaf.com, but you can still use the site if you go to a specific thread link

How does one go about detecting a bot?

My parents/family got an email from Comcast saying that they detected a bot on one of their computers. They have 4-5 different PCs on their wireless network.

As the designated IT guy for my family, they come to me with these problems. I don't know how to find bots outside of antivirus programs, but everything I read on the subject suggests that antivirus programs can be compromised by bots.

Is there a specific program that works wonders?

I and most people I know just call most of them white people.

Is there a delay between when you send a text message and when the person receives it, or is it more or less instant?

I suppose this would be easily tested in the presence of someone that I could text message, but I can't be bothered right now

Why are completely cloudy nights some of the brightest nights?

Probably light from the city scattering off the clouds instead of just going off into space. It's why snowy nights have that cool orange glow to them sometimes, light reflects off the falling snow.

Our household just got rid of the DVR that it was paying Time Warner a monthly fee for. Could anyone recommend a reliable user-friendly DVR that I could purchase online, hook up to our new plasma screen and use it without paying a monthly fee? Thanks.

Is it just me or have there been a lot more timeouts than usual on GAF in the past week or two?

Yeah I've been getting that.

@ACE 1991 Did someone outbid you at the very last second?

I used "Buy it Now," and I have confirmation that paypal deducted the $33.20 from my account and transferred it to the ebay seller. Absolutely no record that I purchased anything on ebay, though. Super weird.

What did :lol use to be? And did some mod used to have Sam L Jackson as an avatar? Why is he always associated with 'ban' gifs?

Antivirus is still worth a shot. Look through your processes/msconfig list to see if anything seems off.

May be worth contacting eBay over.

how can i create a thread? i've been a member here for a while and i'm still unable to do that.

i want to created a thread that helps members find similar songs to the one that they're in love at the moment. for ex: i'm looking for a song that is similar to neyo's "so sick", another member can help me by putting "let me love you, hard to breathe etc."

You can't create new threads if you're still a junior. There are two prerequisites that need to be met before becoming a member: 1) Be registered for three months, and 2) have at least 300 posts. :)
