This thread is for stupid questions that don't deserve their own individual threads

Exactly, that was my point. Whatever, I don't care. I read it as he wanted foreign stereotypes of England, not that he wanted people from England to reinforce that the stereotypes he's heard are true. Being that the latter doesn't make a lot of sense.

No. He wanted to hear how people in England stereotype people from other parts of England so he has context for the show he listens to.

Did you even read his post properly or did you just want to come across as an ignorant American in an attempt at some crazy, self-referential meta-seterotyping?

is the word "shtick" well known for native english speakers? i want to use it in an essay and my teacher is a south african so i'm sometimes not sure if the words i pickup on the internet are common or not.
I used shtick in the Gervais Golden Globe thread so I hope it's normal.

Never used it in an essay though.

hey gaf folks i have a question...in one episode of the simpsons bart writes "fun does not have a size" on the blackboard...what does it mean? like fun knows no boundaries or limits or something else?

Okay GAF, solve this

5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 5 x 0 = ?

Zero.

Just for shits and giggles could someone tell me the various 'stereotypes' of the regions of England for me?

What I'm getting at here is I've been listening to the Ricky Gervais XFM shows and I hear stuff that sounds like the west country is kinda backwoods with farm animals and such, the northerners are angry/depressing, the southerners (Reading) are white trashy or working class and I was wondering if someone can validate or add to any of this.

NOTE: I dont mean to offend anyone here - just going off limited info from a comedy show.

Here's some for you:

Northerners think southerners are soft i.e. southern softies.
Northerners are careful with their money i.e. tight.
Northerners are friendly, salt of the earth types.
Northerners are unsophisticated and uncultured.
West Country types are a bit simple and shag sheep. This is also said of Australians and New Zealanders.
Mancunians are miserable.
Liverpudlians have a chip on their shoulder and will steal anything that isn't bolted down.
East Midland types are all in-bred.
Essex girls are blond bimbos, without fail.

Those are off the top of my head but there are plenty more! :/

Does anyone have or know where can get an .eps file for the Monster energy drink logo? Brandsoftheworld.com has failed me.

I'm working on a brochure project and all I have to work with are crappy low resolution jpegs...

Anyone know what kind of converter this is and where i can get it? I want to connect my computer speakers to my tv and this is the only way to do it.

Last question. What about this one? I tried to look on amazon but didn't see. I tried to go by description. lol. basically the three cables connect into one and connect into one input.

This one stumped me a bit, it's possible the cable in the picture came with a specific brand of surround speakers or sound card. The best I could find was this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017PG8KS/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Or buy 2 of these and daisy chain them together:

Of course you realize you won't get true surround sound with these solutions right? Just to be sure.

Hello Neogaf.
Ik looking to upgrade my memmory in my pc, but I need some help with what type of memory to take. I have a Gigabyte motherboard: GA-MA770T-UD3
http://www.gigabyte.eu/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3243#ov
The motherboard supports these types of memory:
1. 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory
2. Dual channel memory architecture
3. Support for DDR3 1666(OC)/1333/1066 MHz memory modules
4. Support ECC memory

And currently I have 4 GB ram, but want more.
My current ram: 2x 2GB 1333 DDR3
CL=7-7-7-24

I use my PC primarily for gaming (Battlefield 3) and some CAD design and am looking for 8gb -16 GB minimum.
Can someone tell me what type of memory will fit in my pc?
Btw I live in the Netherlands so if someone should have links to webshops here that would be helpful
I usually look at www.alternate.nl

Thanks.

I don't think this is a stupid question, but none the less, it doesn't deserve it's own thread.

I think there's a cliche that after a women is raped/sexually abused that she will sit in a shower with it turned on and cry/sit there in shock.

Is there a cult/classic/famous movie that portrays this? (Not Casino Royale, that was because she saw a guy get killed anyway)

Though looking through the list, nothing is really jumping out at me as the originator of the trope. That said, upon reading your post, Psycho is what immediately came to mind.

That list obviously isn't comprehensive; there are plenty of brands and models not listed that would most likely work, but I would try to stick to what is listed as much as possible.
Personally I would get more of the RAM you already have or replace it outright. In my experience mixing different RAM modules in the same motherboard leads to instability and headaches.

Cool thanks. And I know all about mancs being 'miserable twats' .. well not all mancs .. just one in particular haha. BTW - who are liverpudlians? I remember one episode where they were talking about mancs taking the most sick time out of anyone in the uk and Karl said that he'd rather deal with that than liverpudlians who are most likely to knick everything.

(again my apologies if I'm offending anyone - just going by what I'm hearing on a comedy show)

Okay gaf, I have another problem here for you!!

How many triangles can you count???

A) 26

B) 38

C) 44

D) 47

E) 48

I would go for 48 but I really don´t know

I have a question GAF. For some time now I've been thinking of finally ditching my physical music media fetish and getting my music from iTunes in the future. I've had some money in my wallet for a couple of months now but I'd been finding it hard to pull the trigger because I didn't want to give up the flexibility that having a physical copy brings (i.e. archiving in FLAC, ripping in iTunes for general consumption).

On the opposite side of that argument, I don't want any more physical CDs.

Anyway, I bought my first iTunes album yesterday (Led Zeppelin IV, which I've never heard before) and I listened to it on the way home yesterday evening. To my horror I noticed that there's some apparent "noise" in the right channel in Stairway To Heaven! Now I'm fairly sure this isn't a headphone problem (I'll confirm this later), so I'm curious as to whether it's just a shitty copy from iTunes or if this "noise" is apparent in the CD version as well? It's the remastered version if that's any help?

Quick question.

A couple of days ago I was sitting in a chair and when I rested my head againsnt the back of the chair I could feel something in the back of my head beating, like a heart beat.

I only could feel it when I put the back of my head againsn't something.

What could this be? It only happened that one time.

Right, I've just played the same track through different headphones on my PC rather than my iPhone and I'm still noticing it. I'd really appreciate it if someone could check their CD so that I can confirm whether it's a part of the intended sound or an imperfection in this version. Starts pretty much right on 05:35 on the iTunes counter (song total 08:03) in the right channel as I mentioned.

Thanks.
