I'd like to know if people with light-colored hair feels cooler under a bright summer sun? I have black hair and the hair get's pretty hot after a while.

Blonde or light hair does reflect more [sun]light than dark hair, so it makes a difference, although I'd imagine the temperature difference is fairly minor.

From what anime/game is this cosplay? (redhair with SS uniform)

Basically, the more you have, the amount of additional value decreases per unit.

stuburns said:
Diminishing Returns means the extra of something (money/effort/whatever), doesn't equate to the same amount of reward.

An example, you spend 80 million dollars building a game and it's only 10% better than it would be for 40 million.

EDIT: Beaten, and beaten better, for shame.

Thanks, I see (never thought to wiki this). The first time I read it was in context of the first PD0 screens and I was just going by the meaning of each word. It kind of translates to "Ertragsgesetz" in german then.

What is the name of the song in that new Dell commercial where the people go into the building, and come out with new laptops?

Edit: Found it.

I'm looking to purchase Windows XP Pro for Mac Bootcamp. Are they any legitimate sites that sell the software as a download? I might need to use Windows sooner than I thought for my job. Otherwise I was thinking of going with Newegg and wait a few days for shipping. Appreciate any help.

Is there some sort of "remember all logins for sites" option in Firefox? A few days ago it just crashed randomly as it tends to do once or twice a week, but ever since then any site I have a login for like NeoGAF or YouTube I need to put in my username and password again. It won't be automatically logged in like normal. This is especially annoying with Google Images since the default for anonymous users is 'SafeSearch On' and only 10 images a page which I don't want.

I still had cookies for all the sites I want, I've since wiped all saved passwords and cookies and everything, logged in to GAF and said yes to "Do you want Firefox to save the password", but still it won't be logged in when I close and re-open the browser.

Since it's an accessory doesn't matter does it? ;)

I would say go for it since the savings are there. I have a refurbed mp3 player myself.
Cool. I went for it. In case it messes up, I'll just tell my friend to give it back so I can exchange it for another one. Thanks!

Have you tried using Xmarks? There's an option to synchronize your passwords and save them in the event that you uninstall/your FireFox crashes. Works like a charm. And with this add-on, all your bookmarks will be saved and stored so if you decide to one day uninstall FireFox and re-install it at a later date, all of your bookmarks will be backed up!

What do you do when you see (and believe) in contradicting ideas?

For instance, I enjoy both of these quotes:

"You have an enemy? Oh good, that means you stood up for something in life."

"One of the most time-consuming activities is having an enemy."

What does GAF do in these moments?

Who would win in a battle Jason Bourne, Jack Bauer, or James Bond? Mind you they can all use their special "tricks," gadgets, or fighting styles.

Do those laptop fans work? My shit has been overheating.

Also,
When a person says, "I don't care what you think of me."
Can they ever mean it and also say it aloud?

Those aren't really contradictory; they're just focusing on different aspects of one thing.

Stay away from Readers Digests Dueling Proverbs section.

Edit:

Yeah.. better ones would be:
"Birds of a feather flock together" vs "Opposites attract"
"Cant teach an old dog new tricks" vs "You are never too old to learn"
"Good things come to those who wait" vs "Early bird gets the worm"

It would have to be between Bauer and Bond.

Bourne doesn't like confrontation, and would likely escape the fight before things got really interesting.

Yep, 3 parts, all awesome if you like Joss Whedon and Musicals. They were a huge success in the fandom and there are frequent talks/rumors about sequels and actual movies.

Why do people do this? PUT THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION IN YOUR EDIT!

This might be totally random, but I'm looking for the name or a link to a program or software about aviation. I used it during the 90s and it was basically an educational thing about different planes and pilots with different questions and video clips. Chuck Yeager seemed to be an answer a lot. It also had a paper plane minigame where you had to get a paper plane from one side of the house to outside, it involved having to use air vents to stay up and you also had rubber bands as projectiles.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't like using iTunes as a music player, so I'm moving back to Winamp, but there's one cool feature iTunes had I can't seem to find in Winamp: keep files organized + copy added files to library folder. This was really useful, it kept tagging and managing folders to a minimum. I moved all the files from my 'new' folder to the playlist, got them tagged and copied to my main library folder without hassle. Can you do that in Winamp too?

i got a doozy actually about mp3 file formats...i recently bought some sick ass headphones and whenever i use them for youtube videos, it makes a static sound but whenever its a real mp3 song, its fine...i assume the mp3s are 128kbp rate thingy...will it make a bigger difference if its 320 or whatever?

Do you have a sound card?
It's possible it's not changing from 48kbps to 44.1 kbps or whatever.

Check with Head-Fi.org

Also normal youtube uses 24kbps mono sound quality while better quality YT uses 48kbps dual source. See if that's an issue.

I can notice the difference between 128kbps and 320, but it's not a big issue really. Just a plus.
I have a surfboard that some guy on Craigslist kept pestering me about.

It's a Santa Cruz 6' Freeline, looks pretty old. Seems hollow.

Worth anything?

Just an update since I fixed my problem by going Start > Run and typing "firefox -p" to create a new profile, which I then had to spend half an hour changing options and adding stuff to make it how I like. But sites will stay logged in like they used to now, so it was worth it.

This show was pretty awesome. I'm sad they decided to cancel it and keep heroes. I really liked how they had that raymond guy go berserk on the gangsters.

one of these days a mod is going to hold me accountable for my drunk posts. it's gonna happen. WHAT does it feel like to be dead (to gaf) jesus? lay it all out for me mothalicka

When I just change the tag of a video file (from .mpeg to .avi), do I lose considerable quality? Is it better to use software to convert video files?

Changing an extension does not change any of the data inside the file.

So if you encoded it in mpeg2 and merely changed the extension to .avi, the file has not been converted, it's still an mpeg2.

So you lose no quality because you've really changed nothing.

Jack, as he usually get's his "gadgets" McGuyer style.

Do those laptop fans work? My shit has been overheating.

They do, but blasting compressed air through the vents would clear the internal fans, and reduce your heat.

Would the people in the hot dude thread get mad if I posted trannies that looked almost indistinguishable from women? On a related note, would I get in trouble for posting topless pics of them in the only hot girl thread. I mean technically they are men and topless men are allowed...

That would be the Arby's Roast Burger.

The tip of my headphones broke off. :( They are a decent set of cans, too. Is there anyway I can repair them or should I just trash them.

Might not be such a small question (in terms of the possible complexity of responses), but it's certainly not thread worthy.

I want to download a video that uses the iPlayer system from the BBC site, but isn't on the iPlayer program itself.

Here is the video in question,
http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2009/artists/lilyallen/video2.shtml#emp

So, is it possible to rip that video from the site? Is it illegal to do so? Help please.

yeah, Lily Allen, so what? She's cool

So, I was told in my Canadian Studies class that Canada isn't really a country because the provinces never ratified a constitution. Is that true? Is anyone else aware of this?

I mean, Great Britain officially stopped recognizing "Canada" as a colony in 1982 and a "Canadian parliament" concurrently recognized "Canada" as its own nation, but my understanding is that the parliament shouldn't actually have any power because the provinces haven't ratified a constitution that sets up a parliament for themselves and recognizes themselves as one nation. Or something.

I almost posted this in the Canada Day thread before I remembered this thread exists.

have you tried that RealPlayer plugin for Firefox that lets you save videos? I think it works for files other than RP's.

Haven't tried that, no. I tried another Firefox add-on. I'll give it a go thanks.

Nah, didn't work. I guess it's protected and I shouldn't be trying anyway.
And yeah, she's hot.
