My first incident started the other day when I left 'The Witcher' running on my computer (my laptop is for personal use) only to come back back a little while later and find that the eraser of a rather unfortunate pencil that had been in contact with my computer was starting to melt.
Anyway Ive looked around for solutions but I would like to know what the people here think. So far I've run across a laptop stand which elevates your computer and a fan that sits beneath it. However since this fan draws power from a USB port I cant help wonder if it actually does any good.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I plan on using my laptop for lengthy periods of time and would like to avoid any unfortunate incidents.

I was never a fan of USB fans, I think they do more damage. Can I ask where your laptop was when this happened? Like was it on your bed/couch? or was it on a hard surface?
