I am trying to download a torrent which has just 3 seeds. Its a 5.3 MB file.

I have followed the instructions in terms of forwarding the port; making my firewalls allow it and so on.

However, when it downloads, it gets to 0.7% each time and then everything just goes back to 0. The elapsed time, the percent it has downloaded etc; it just all goes back to 0. So I delete the torrent, re-add it, and it just all happens all over again; makes it 0.7% and all the numbers evaporate to nothing.

Help, GAF?

How much of the completed file do the peers have?

This might be silly but how do I quote multiple people in the same post in the forums here? Usually, there is an option to quote multiple people, but I see none here.

Thanks in advance.

I normally just quote the first person, copy with my reply, go back a page, quote the next person and so on.

Oh, so there isn't an option to multi quote. I just wanted to get that clear. I did it manually but for some reason, I kept saying it to myself that there probably is an other way around!

What's the context?

Just some random girl you like giving you the thumbs up from across the room?

Hey guys, I'm using ebay to sell stuff for the first time, and I grossly underestimated postage costs for an auction that has now ended. I requested to cancel the transaction, and explained to the buyer the situation. However, he was fine with paying the difference. How do I get rid of the request to cancel the sale? Will it disappear automatically as soon as I mark the item as sent?

I'm wondering if I have to wait until the buyer responds to the request, as I don't seem to have the option to resolve it myself. But I'm afraid that if he responds, the sale will automatically be cancelled.

Thanks.

Could someone please fix the borders on my avatar so it's a one pixel border on every side? I noticed the left side was 2 pixels wide and the right and bottom sides didn't have a border.

What is the difference between FLAC and ALAC sound formats? Is it the same quality with ALAC being Apple proprietary or what?

- I exported each frame of the animation to a folder as an image sequence with VirtualDub.
- I recorded an automation script in Photoshop to shift the picture 1px to the left and add 1px borders to all 4 sides.
- I automated each of the 20 frames.
- I put it back together with Virtualdub.

Upon doing the last step, I didn't put in the correct frame rate. Also, the file size is a little bigger because it wasn't optimized the same way, I guess.

What did you use to create the falling snow, if I may ask?

Is there any way to fix a fatal system error without having to lose all my data and programs, or having to get a new computer?
It depends on what the fatal system error is (and what OS).

Assuming you have Windows, personally, I'd just copy all important data from the hard drive to a USB drive with a Linux CD and then reinstall Windows. A crisp, clean Windows install is a pretty wonderful thing.

It's almost like doing laundry or something.

XP, Session Manager Initialization System Process fails. Windows doesn't load, can't even boot in safe mode (any permutation) or boot from the most recent working settings.

Edit: Have already reinstalled windows and reformatted the HD on this computer twice. I doubt I have enough hard disk space to do it again.

Some quick Google searching of "Session Manager Initialization System Process fails" gives some ways of fixing the problem with the Windows recovery console.

If you still have your Windows XP disk, you can use the recovery console to try to fix it based on instructions off the Internet.

I don't know much about your specific problem, but it appears that it is an update (KB925902) that is often the cause of this problem.

why do people say "bless you" when someone sneezes but not when someone coughs?
I'm not entirely sure, but in the Simpsons' book of Milhouse, it's because your soul is trying to escape through your nose, and saying "bless you" shoves it back in there.

The German equivalent gezundheit (I can't spell in German, sorry) translates to "good health" which seems more intuitive to me.

In the Arrested Development song "Tennessee" what's the horseshoes line about?

Also, I used to have a bookmarked site of rap lyrics with analysis, explanation of references and list of samples, but I can't find it. Anyone know a site like this? It was mostly 80s and 90s stuff.

I know about songmeanings.net. It's not the site I'm looking for.

I just looked at the Denimhead thread and saw people buying Jeans that as much as a 70-300mm lens for my DSLR Camera. I almost puked.

Is that a natural and logical response?

If by "natural and logical" you're asking if you're the only one? You're not the only one.

But then, a pair of jeans that expensive will last you years upon years, as long as you don't gain or lose more than (about) 20lbs.

So consider how long you'd keep the technology, and then consider how long those jeans could last. Then it's not so nauseating.

I have a 80 gig ps3 that does not have ps2 compatibility. If it's possible, how would I go about getting it to play ps2 games?

i'm trying to find a song, i dont know the name or any lyrics but i remember the video perfectly. The chorus was something like "only you" or "vuley vu" (it sounded like that) and the video had a woman walking through a deserted city, the song came on the mtv after hours during the second half of the 1990's so around 97-2000

oh and the song usually came on before or after madonna's frozen

can anyone help?:D

That's just what the Pope decreed. No, seriously, I learned this in my AP Euro class.
Huh, I hadearned that people used to think that it was your soul trying to escape, and that someone blessing you would keep it in place.

Reasonably sure I'd heard it before the theory was espoused by Milhouse on an episode of The Simpsons, but who can tell anymore...

I associate it with SARS for some reason.

Would that be to stop him from biting people?

Buying a PS2? As far as I know, none.

How the hell do you pronounce "fsck"?

There are so many stupid computer acromyns that make no sense except the original griever coders.

I am calling it "fuck", I don't care what the official pronunciation is.

I was just watching Larry King with the governor of NY who happens to be blind and I was thinking to myself: What do blind people see? Do they see black? If you were born blind you don't know what "black" is, right? But what if you became blind later in life and have seen before? So what do they see? Nothingness?

What do you guys think?

fsck? What in the world is that? Do people actually use that term?

I don't think it's possible, dude.

My guess is that they see black. Although blind people have stronger senses than most people, so I don't know if that could be a factor for them seeing something other than black.

I pronounce it like fiscal without the -al.

Well you see black when you don't get any light reflected into your eyes so I'd bet that blind people just see black. It's probably just the way the brain would be wired.

In the Terminator universe why did Skynet build the timemachine? If it were never built the humans could never have won.

The humans had already won, the time machine was the last ditch effort to win by preventing John Conner from never being born. Also, without the time machine, SkyNet itself would never have been created.

It's a bit of a geek censor. It's a file system check utility, but it's so close to 'fuck' that it also gets used out of context when curse filters are on. (Personally, I prefer 'frak'.)

And yea, it's pronounced fisc.

But does seeing the lack of light require vision? What if there is no stimulation at all? I know many blind people at least see shadows, but what about people with no eyes at all? I think where their eyes would be would still feel touch, but it would be like asking what does your foot see. It doesn't see anything, not even the absence of something.

So I have no idea what the answer is.

Why do Americans sometimes refer to one cent as a penny? Should it not be a Cenny?

The US coin was adapted from the British penny/pence, and their values are equivalent: one US cent is 1/100 of a US dollar just as one British penny/pence is 1/100 of a British pound. It's referred to as a penny because... that's what it is.

Going off of this, Brits call pounds "quid", right. What the hell is a quid?

Also, CA lottery question:
If I enter my numbers in the automated machine to get a ticket, it automatically puts them in order. So say I pick 142365, it will list them as 123456. Yet, when I go to check the winning numbers on the website, they're in the order drawn, not numerical order. Why don't they just put those in order as well?

GAF pools its resources often and effectively. Whether we're compling some electronica, creating an isometric city, designing a game, or saving a homeless person, we fucking rule.

Has anybody ever thought about pooling GAF resources into its own investment fund?

got another one:

Friend's mom has an 80gb ipod classic. When you plug it into the USB cable, it doesn't appear in itunes, nor in My Computer as a storage device. The USB ports work with other devices, and the USB cable works with other ipods. We even tried a second USB cable with this ipod, but still nothing. Also, you can plug the ipod onto a charger and it works properly, so the port on the actual ipod itself seems to work properly.

All of the software is fully updated, and there's no sort of virus/malware/etc on the PC. Anyone know why this specific ipod won't show up/be recognized by the PC?
