I got a used copy of Skies or Arcadia Legends that won't read. GameCube games can be safely resurfaced using the same machines that resurface DVDs, right? I'm planning to take it to a local video store and get it resurfaced (GameStop apparently doesn't do it anymore, and neither does Blockbuster), but I want to make sure first.

Do women/girls watch gay porn to the same extent that men/boys watch lesbian porn?

No, but they're 1000% more into watching two guys go at it in real life. It's bizarre.

Anyway, my question:

"I before E except after C and sometimes Y."

When after Y? Dyeing and eyeing, but is there a word that isn't an -ing word that uses this rule? Like it starts with Yei?

I don't think that's the saying, it's A - E - I - O - U and sometimes Y. Referring to the words that contain no vowels other than a Y.

Where should one place their own hapiness in importantness ? I think about this all the time, some people seem to live there whole lives making themselves happy, i think i can cope with not being happy most of the time, is this strange ?

"Happiness" is an imprecise word. I don't think it's the natural state of humans to be happy all the time. I strive to live a satisfying, meaningful, and inquisitive life. Challenges come and go, and there are times of stress and times of joy. But it depends on what you want out of life.

But if by "not being happy" you mean "being unhappy," then there's something wrong with that. Life isn't worth living if you're miserable all the time and you have the means to change your situation.

No, it's a spelling thing, it's not about which letters are vowels. It's so you don't mess up stuff like ceiling and receive. Maybe they quit teaching it, but it was a thing that was used way back when I was in elementary.

Depends on how you define happiness. If you're thinking it should be like high excitement orgasm feelings, then you may be looking at it wrong. If you're doing your best each day and you're content with what you're doing and where you're going, I'd say that's being happy.

What the hell do you guys do when you take a random day off work like I did today (this was not planned in advance)? I mean I feel like I should go out and do something but at the same time I kinda just want to hang around the house and eat nachos and listen to music. Also its really fucking windy outside.

@Bjork
I have never heard it said "I before E except after C and sometimes Y." I have only heard "I before E except after C."

Same. The two sayings I recall are "I before E except after C" and the vowels are "A, E, I, O, U, sometimes Y and W."

Of course, I might be wrong about that W part, but I'm pretty sure there are some words of Welsh origin that are used in English with "W" as the vowel. I think one of them is "cwm" if I'm remembering right.

i before e except after c doesn't work anyway. it's a weird rule.

I say stay inside and eat nachos and listen to music. if you're enjoying yourself, it doesn't matter if you're not outside doing stuff

Other than stye and eye, can anyone think of a disease/affliction/symptom/etc that rhymes with the body part it affects?
Lupus affects the entire body, and the Latin word for "body" is "corpus". Eh?

I've never heard this variation, but I have heard:

"I before E, except after C, and when sounding like A, as in neighbor and weigh."

I think you're getting sayings confused. I've never heard "I before E except after C and sometimes Y." But I have heard "AEIOU and sometimes Y"

10 Gallon Tank would mean roughly 10" of fully grown Fish, I googled "Glo fish" and seems they are just hideously godawful coloured Zebra Danios.
They thrive best at temperatures above 22 °C (71.6 °F) and below 27 °C (80.6 °F). They need an aquarium of at least 10 gallons or more, and they do well in schools

So your looking at about 5 as they grow to 2" each. After about 6 months you could probably push it to 7 or 8.

Also. Welcome to HELL (aka First fish tank) :lol
I suggest reading these

Newbie No nos

Most important ones
Fish in cycling
Fish-less cycling

I suggest the fishless as fish in is brutal.
My gah, reading about the cycling topics makes my head hurt.

My advice, don't follow that rule - it's absolute bullshit. They stopped teaching it in schools even. Sooo many words don't actually follow that rule; neighbor, weigh, feisty, seize, weight, weird, vein, foreign, etc... even the "after c" part, like the words ancient and sufficient.

At some point someone made an alternate version that read, "I before E except after C or when sounding like A as in neighbor and weigh" but there's also the one, "I before E except after C when the sound is long e...". Also, you have to ignore the rule if the C sounds like "sh-" and you have to remember that the words, weird and foreign, are just weird and foreign and the rules don't apply.

Do Scottish people say ass or arse? I'd have assumed arse, so it threw me off when I hear it pronounced ass in the Biffy Clyro song Whorses.

I was taught the same thing. Seems odd there are so many people in here that have never heard it before.

So my iPod was put through the wash, I tossed it in a bag of rice and five days later it's working. However, it has some discoloration on the screen (water damage I assume) is this permanent? If so, no biggie since it's not obtrusive. Also, I can't change the volume, or rather, the volume won't change. I can move the slider (I have a touch) but it'll stay at one level until it's all the way to the left and it turns the volume off. Once again, not a huge problem since the level that it's at is okay. Finally the ipod doesn't hold a charge. I'm assuming that the battery is fucked then?

Yeah its abit overwhelming. I ended up doing a fishin cycle as I didnt know anybetter and spent something like 2/3 months changing 50%/25% of the water everyday which was not fun I can tell you!

Still got it setup now though, tis just under a year and a half old :)

I put a Nano through an entire wash cycle once. It took several weeks for it to dry out fully and start working properly again, and eventually it worked almost perfectly (there was visible water behind the screen that eventually dried out)... but it never did hold a charge again.

It probably is fucked, yeah. Let it continue to dry for a while and hope for the best, but the battery is probably screwed. And it would cost almost as much to fix it than it would to buy a new one. Sorry :(

Why would that bother you?

It just does, dammit.

I would only type "damn it" as a part of a larger statement; "damn it all to hell!" I wouldn't use it as an exclamation; "the world needs more Suikoden, damn it!"

It just bothers me when I see it.

how come as we grow older our skin begins to wrinkle?

tonsil removal surgery, which part of the body is cut to remove them?

how come it seems as if congress holds the most power? (united states)

1. Something to do with the cells in your skin breaking down and losing their elasticity or something so it begins to sag/fom wrinkles.

2. Two bits either side of your throat at the far back of you mouth, their pretty hard to see but ive had mine removed so that makes it infinitely more so :lol

Edit: well bugger me they are bigger than I remember!

what exactly does "minmaxing" mean (in regards to rpgs)? I had never heard it until I started listening to Active Time Babble

I allways took it to mean getting the best stats/armour/weapons making chars stupidly powerful and such. Could be alittle off mind you.
Games like Disgea where you can level to 9999 but it has no need for the main story just the extra stuff

That sounded OK for the "max" part, but I wondered where the "min" came in so I went searching. Actually seems Wikipedia has a short article on it.

Min-maxing is the practice of playing a role-playing game, wargame or video game with the intent of creating the "best" character by means of minimizing undesired or unimportant traits and maximizing desired ones.
