I'd say (and not meaning to sound smart-ass): When you proof read it and think "this is not boring". More than one line/paragraph and maybe pictures will help. It would also depend on whether it's an informative post or a question, of course.

I feel like such an idiot asking this.

But what does the name NeoGAF even mean? what does it stand for? where did it come from.

Do Scottish people say ass or arse? I'd have assumed arse, so it threw me off when I hear it pronounced ass in the Biffy Clyro song Whorses.
We say both, however I would say arse was probably more common.

I once installed a piece of software a couple of years ago that somehow knew the length of time my computer had been on and the number of reboots. Anyone know what that might have been? Can you do it on Windows without it?

So I developed a cold about 3 weeks ago. I mostly recovered from it, but not before an ear infection set in; I noticed this a week and a half after my cold started, due to a pain in my left ear, and I went to the doctor first thing the next morning and they put me on Amoxicilin (3 a day/10 days). Three days after I started taking the Amoxicilin, my left ear started "ringing" (think the sound when someone hooked up to a cardiac monitor flatlines, that long dull "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" sound, but mine is higher pitched). It is now 8 days later, my cold is 100% gone, but the ringing has been constant for literally every second of those past 8 days. My left ear also feels "clogged" in the same way as if I were on an airplane and needed to pop my ears, only I can't pop them... along with that, I noticed mild hearing loss in that ear, though I suspect that is linked with the clogged feeling.

From the looks of it, I've developed tinnitus in my left ear. My question is, does anyone know if there is any data regarding my chances of it going away since it was likely caused from an ear infection? I noticed if I clench my jaw on the left side of my mouth the ringing gets louder, which makes me think it's a physical issue with a nerve perhaps, caused by the infection (which presumably hasn't fully cleared out).

Most of my online research seems to be back and forth between any chance of it going away on its own. Was just looking for some more hard studies about my odds, if such a thing exists, or even just some educated personal opinion! Having to live with this for the rest of my life would very much suuuuuck.

True story. I had a good friend die because he ignored a ear infection. No, that doesn't directly relate to your issue, but still. Get it checked out.

Hulu is godly. But I always have serious frame rate issues, even if I reduce the size of the window. It happens every 5 minutes for about 5 minutes. If I go fullscreen, it drops to about 14 fps.

I've right-clicked on the video and adjusted the amount of space that Hulu can use on the drive to 10MB.

I don't have too shitty a laptop either, a 3.8 on the windows experience scale. 4GB RAM, Turion X2 RM-70 2.00 GHz, 128 dedicated, but additional video ram can be taken from the 4GB. I run full CAD programs on this laptop. Internet speed is not an issue.

It also happens on another, slower laptop too. Any suggestions?

I have tinnitus too, but from a plane (I think). If it does not go away in like 2 weeks you are stuck with it. I just filter it out, I usually dont hear it during the day only when I am going to sleep. I also noticed hear loss but that might be from music :S. Also had it in my right left ear then got it in both, but that was from music I think.

I also have the thing that if I yawn it gets louder, no idea if that also comes with tinnitus. Tinnitus can be any sound really, not just high pitched EEEE. Had it since 2006-7 I think.

Are larger and more frequent craps (say, twice a day on average) really a sign of a healthier digestive system?

What is that sound that you hear when a CRT TV is on? I've always wondered this.

The tubes turning on, I think.

Ugh, after having my ear drum repaired I ended up with tinnitus. Normally I forget about it and don't hear it, but whenever I'm on GAF it always comes up and I'm always reminded of it.

I mean after it turns on. Even if you're in the next room you can hear the TV running. Is it something mechanical that's causing the sound? It seems very high-pitched, but isn't that easy to hear.

Is it high pitched? It might be the electronic scan buzz.

Why do I get a GST cheque from the Canadian government every three or four months? They basically just deposit $95 bucks in my account every few months. Why? I've never understood this.

I need help finding something. I remember in a Pick Up and post thread (not sure when, ~6 months?) someone bought a painting and put it in there. It was by an artists that wasn't famous, was very colorful (blues, reds, oranges, yellows) and wasn't colored "realistically" with said colors. Anyone know where that is?

can somebody explain me todays C&H ?

What's the exact difference in being in love with someone and having a "crush"?
i'd say a crush is only based on looks while love would be when you actually know about the person

What's the best(good) cleaning product to wash one's face?

Having a "crush" is an affection/infatuation you have for someone. It doesn't necessarily have to be sexual but it usually is. A crush is typically based on an idea or series of assumptions you have about the object of your affection. A crush lasts as long as the object of your affection continues to reinforce the ideas you have about them.

Being in love is being absolutely devoted to someone and liking them for who they are despite their flaws. Love is when you care for someone so much that their needs become more important than your own.

Everyone has crushes, not everyone ever truly falls in love.

Is there any reason why drink lids have those plastic bubbles with soda names on them?

They're made for waiters to keep from mixing up orders ex one person at the table orders regular and the other orders diet

No one ever uses them though.

squinters said:

Yeah, they are used to differentiate between Coke/Diet Coke/Root Beer/Dr. Pepper when someone orders any combination of those similarly coloured drinks on the same order. For example, if someone orders a Coke and a Diet Coke on the same order you punch the Diet Coke bubble on the Diet Coke so they will know which drink is which.

I never figured this out until I worked at a movie theater.

I always thought that was common sense.

Ha! It was quite the revelation. In my role as customer, I never gave it much thought.

That was very well spoken.

There is a desktop app. It is amazing.

There was a thread posted in OT sometime in the last week about a film. (Pretty sure) the film's title started with T, and the OP recommended people to check it out. Can't remember the name/thread.

A crush is like a mild attraction or interest in a person. Love usually involves caring for a person deeply on an emotional, and many times also a sexual level.
