can someone link me to that thread from ages ago that had a guy on gaf asking if anyone would restore this photo of him and his dad so that he could give it to his dad for his birthday.

the thread had photoshops that got way out of hand and totally rude to the guy. but it was hilarious. i wanted to see it for old times sake but can't seem to find it.
 
What are some any good Youtube channels, podcasts, websites, or books to learn about cars? Watching Top Gears has made me want to learn more.

Why are blu-ray's coming with DVD versions of the films so often now? When did this start? I can't see a single benefit to it. I have a DVD of Avatar that will never be used, and come early December, one of Inception too.

Justify a higher price tag at little to no extra cost.

Also lots of houses have one blu-ray player but several dvd players or they have a portable dvd player. It's helping people transition to HD b/c the movie industry hasn't sorted out the problem of: when someone buys a movie they should get it on all formats, not have to worry about blu-ray, dvd, portable device, etc.

It costs next to nothing for studios to include the DVD, and you can always use it to make rips for your other devices other than the included digital copy.

Thanks for the replies, those are actually kind of cool reasons from a consumer perspective. So although I won't be using them, I'm glad the industry cares at least to some degree about those issues.
 
Anyone know which version of Electric Ladyland has the 'correct' running order? The UK version ends with Moon, Turn The Tides, US version ends with Voodoo Child.
 
Hey guys, I couldn't find this same thread for videogame questions, so I'll ask it here, do any of you knows about a web source or anything were I can see the detailed production of a videogame console? I mean, something like, "first the single pieces are designed in Japan, then they're produced in Vietnam where they send them to China where they are joint together".

I'd be very grateful about your input.
 
Does anyone else have trouble between ordering "white" and "wheat" bread at Subway, etc? I always order white, but 90% of the time they think I say "wheat".

My dad died and we cannot find his will. Do life insurance companies require one ? He didn't seem like the type to not have a will , especially since he was sick for a while.

If he doesn't have a will then his assets will probably go to his next of kin, either his wife or children.
 
Could somebody tell me how I can bring the best quality out of a GIF when exporting it from CS3/4? What settings should I save it as. Also, what are some other good GIF programs? I've always used PS but my GIFs come out in low quality. I also was never able to figure out how to resize them in photoshop. It seems like everybody is able to make these HQ gifs that aren't that big in bit size while mine are low quality and are huge in file size. Lay it all on me please!

The avatar you're using now was made in GIMP, which is basically poor mans Photoshop. All I did was crop the original image to proper dimension, shrink it, optimized for difference, and took out frames until the file size was under 150kb.

Uninstall and reinstall? I'm assuming you're using Windows XP or newer. Next time right click on the install file and select "Run as Administrator".
 
On a scale of 1-10, how big a deal is a work's Christmas party? I kinda want to go but have other (IMO much more important plans) but don't want to let these guys down, and I do get on well with them...

I would ditch it if you have more important plans. I was never able to ditch mine because it was a full sit-down thing at a hotel more than it was a party, but if it's less organised than that then bail out without a care.

Anywhere from 4-10 depending on whether it's your first Xmas at the company, whether you need to make amends for the last Xmas do (my situation) and the size / type of party in question.

You should be fine to miss it you can think of a burning reason that you should attend the works party.

I tend to go every year, usually to apologise for my conduct at the last party before repeating my sins all over again. I think they expect it from me nowadays and stock the parties in a manner that encourages my behaviour.
 
Thanks guys, I think this is fairly full on, sit down at a restaurant then they're booking a DJ or something for later, eek. I don't need to make amends thankfully in the same way you'd have to :D But I didn't go last year either (and last year I didn't have a good excuse) so I don't want to come across as being too anti-social, damn it.

Sorry about your loss, but the life insurance company should have a list of beneficiaries on the policy itself. I've never had a life insurance policy that either didn't list my wife automatically or someone I listed.

Hopefully you have checked with the insurance company.

Yes...it's enabled and the neogaf url is still listed, but nothing. :( It saves so much time to not have to click on a youtube link.

Ok thanks. I'll look into GIMP for the meantime. I'm doing something wrong when saving for web in Photoshop I think.
 
Thanks! That's what I thought, but I saw two sportscasters on ESPN say "have took" today that it made me question myself.

Take / Took / Taken

"Have", "had" and "to be" are always followed by the verb in the perfect, which is the third form.

EDIT: Although to answer your post above, that's probably because English has a load of verbs which have the same form as their second and third.

Rule of thumb: the sportscaster (or sports writer) is saying (writing) it wrong.

It looks like you're wanting to set up a table of contents. I have no idea how to do it, but I had to follow a template to turn in a thesis recently.

Your best bet is finding a table of contents tutorial for your version of word--that or finding a template you can use. There's lots of stuff going on with styles that I had no clue about.
