Here's a stupid question that doesn't deserve its own thread:
LCD Soundsystem, a band that achieved far more than some of its hipster brethren, has decided to hang up the reins after a few final NYC shows. It's surprising because (and this is always a matter of taste), the band just kept getting better with each successive album. In fact, it's one of those few bands nowadays that actually released entire listenable albums. So they're exiting the scene in their prime. Admirable enough, I guess. Though sad.
Meanwhile, Pearl Jam and the like believe that they're still relevant, and refuse to burn out, but rather fade away at a snail's pace even as less and less people recognize the name or care about what cause-du-jour Eddie Vedder has adopted, or have any sort of interest in the music output.
What's the difference between James Murphy and Eddie Vedder?
