For some reason, some of the URLs when I type in certain links are still there. I keep running CCleaner and I used Malware, and they still pop up after I restart my PC.

Anyone know what's going on?

EDIT-It's actually only two links that shows up in my URL history: Neogaf and some old ass FFinsider site. =\

Watching Inception, then Whip It, does anyone else think Ellen Page walks like a boy?

Would still hit.

Yeah, prob. But I'd be worried that I'd start getting images of her as a awkward teenager in Juno. What's more, she's like a crazy hippie and visited some town where they composted all of her waste.

Just a lot too hippie for me.

So I decided to start listening to the Retronauts podcast, and when I subscribed to it on itunes, the earliest episode they had was #50. I can download 1-49 on the site itself, but is there a way of getting those files in the Retronauts directory in my ipod? I want them to all be in the same area, and not have #1-49 under Music.

I hope this makes sense, heh.

Off the top of my head...

1. Are you talking about when you start typing in the Location bar?
2. What browser (I assume Firefox or Chrome)?
3. Are those sites bookmarked in your browser?
4. CCleaner has options to only delete the history of certain browsers, is the option to delete history for your browser checked?

You're a good person for listening Retronauts.

Try this method: http://markbowers.org/home/itunes-podcast-fix#comment-4049

Snicker. I was like "why does he need to erase these addresses so badly? Ohhhhhh, assfinder site. I got it."

Took me a couple of looks to see FFinsider.

I just became eligible for an upgrade on verizon TODAY...anyone have any knowledge of when the Xperia Play comes out?

Also, If I wanted to upgrade my dad's computers video card for his birthday..what would be a good one to get, how can I tell if it will fit, and what size power supply if acceptable? The PSU on there is like 375 which I know is low. Should I be looking at 600w? 800w?

I'm computer hardware illiterate, so be careful on the jargon and unexplained technical terms, haha.

If there are alternate universes does that mean that theres one where God doesn't exist (assuming he does)

Oh crap my brain just exploded.

Generally an all powerful god is considered to be beyond time and space, so I'd think he'd exist apart from alternate universes.

There would certainly be universes where no gods are worshiped or acknowledged though.

I'm using IE

And yes, I'm talking about when I start typing in the location bar.

How do I check if those sites are bookmarked? I have a feeling this isn't the case, though.

Yes, everything needed is checked.

There's even more old links in the location bar that's from piratebay. =\

Seriously, I've never had this problem before until I just realized today after running CCleaner and everything else those links are still showing up in the location bar.

I even restored my PC to the 14th and it still does it.

I don't use IE, so maybe I'm not the one to help you with this. I think, in IE I they are called 'favorites' instead of 'bookmarks', so look for that somewhere. If it's not that, then I'm out of ideas. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Is it acceptable to use "et al." in the body of the essay, i.e. not in an in-text reference, but as part of the essay proper?

In what context? I wouldn't think there's anything intrinsically wrong.

but then the universes would be connected trough the god and not really alternate, no?

Kojima would go onto making the worst game of all time Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater/Subsistence and destroy the MG series. So yeah, they won:(

Here's my theory about it:
The nazis had huge issues handling Germany as it is before the war; the war pretty much saved their asses because the economy was on the floor (which was one reason for being so aggressive, non-cooperative and expansive, for building Arbeitslager and so forth; expansion prolongs downfall). If the nazis would have taken a huge amount of land with force to then maintain it, they would have spread themselves so thin with so little financial power while struggling with devastated infrastructure and a resistant populus pretty much everywhere that a collapse of the Reich would have been inevitable. When they lost, each country had to handle itself on its own, so there was no thin-spreading going on, except for the USSR, which probably struggled so much partly because of the same problems I'd associate with a superbig post-war Nazi Germany.

Anyone know of any simple ipod dock connector covers like this for the newest nano?

Getting a tiktok and am imagining I'd get paranoid every time I wash my hands about water slipping in.

Since the third iPod, the dock connector has been the same on every one. So I can't really think of a reason why that one wouldn't work as long as you could cram it into the case with it attached.

Beyond the "omg its small enuff 2 b a watch!" excitement around the time they announced those Nanos, I never did understand the desire to use one that way. I hear they make a kind of poor watch and I can't really imagine plugging headphones into one and actually using it while attached to my wrist.

No one has answered me in the Pc thread over on gaming, but I'm building a pc at the moment (I'm a noob at it), My PSU has only got 1 x 4 pin 12v connector and my Motherboard says 2 x 4 pin needed.

I've tried to read up on this but I can only find old threads on google and I'm not sure if it would work on my setup which will be using this CPU and this GPU

Thanks for any advice.

Back in November a windows update was released, after downloading it and after logging in the screen would turn black but you could see the mouse pointer. I could Ctrl, Alt, Delete and view those options but that was it. I could start in safe mode which i have now and it works fine. So i just put my computer back a few days before the update and ive left auto update off since then, but yesterday i updated everything again to see if a newer update would fix the problem but it hasn't. I cant even system restore as it says i have no restore points to go back to so im stuck in safe mode.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Ive tried a few fixes ive seen online such as fixing shell in the registry and downloading a fix that fixes some of the causes but it didn't work on mine. Any help?
If i cant fix it and need to reformat how can i take files off it while in safe mode?
Thanks

If what you've got is the thing I think you've got, this should fix it. If what you've got isn't the thing I think you've got it also shouldn't break anything.

If you've already tried that, and it sounds like you may have, you should be able to start in Safe Mode with networking and offload your stuff to a shared directory on another PC. Otherwise, the best option is probably a removable USB hard drive. Failing that, you can pull the drive, stick it in a functional PC, copy over your stuff, and then put it back.

Nope, the 2x4 power connector supplies power to the CPU, so you'll need a different PSU. I think the connectors are also referred to as 1x4+4 or 4+4 pin, so look for PSUs advertising those as well as 2x4.

People have said that the EMP effects in Modern Warfare 2;s single player campaign were unrealistic. I know the ISS blowing up wasn't, but it DOES knock out electronics, right? So what was so unrealistic about it?

People will look for any excuse to hate on Call of Duty, even when the game doesn't take itself super-seriously. I don't know what the specific complaints against the EMP are, but I wouldn't take them seriously at all. It's like complaining about a roller coaster ride being too fun.

Which reminds me, people complain about modern shooters taking place in familiar areas: usually the Middle East or Russia, yet MW2 actually does something different and has firefights set in American cities against iconic buildings. The response? "LOL, this is not realistic. How could Russia attack the East Coast? Lololol hurr durr."

I don't know about Modern Warfare, but EMP in fiction has typically being used in a controlled and short distance manner.

Even small EMP disruptions tend to spread out around a large distance, and are not as easy to guard against as fiction likes to use it.

(I haven't looked into it recently though so there may be new implementations and different techs behind them.)

What expression would you use to describe this face? I'm having a brain fart right now.

Dat ass.

Needs shades, though.

But if you saw someone do that in real life, how would you describe it? The closest I can think of would be mischievous or holding back laughter, but I know there's a better word for it.

My friend and I argued about this the other day. Is the "wood" in Norwegian Wood the material, i.e. what trees are made of, or the type of small forest thing?

You can design electronics to be EMP resistance. It is in fact easy to defend hardware, but it costs money for the extra design and hardware.

I'm moving to LA in a few months. What do you LA-gaffers think of Silver Lake? It looks pretty promising to me: reasonable price, supposedly an "artsy" area, close proximity to downtown, and as far as I've seen it's not some hotbed for crime. Am I missing anything?

According to the doomsayers, the Mayan calendar will complete its 5,125 year cycle in 2012, and this means that the world will come to an end .... somehow. When 2012 passes without incident, what will be the next cause for the end of humanity that they'll move on to?

For added amusement, what sort of excuses do you think they will come up with for being so completely and utterly wrong?

Honestly I think this would be a cool thread.

slight miscalculation in math will probably be one of the top ones. i think i remember reading some craziness about a huge meteor might coming pretty close to earth in like 2036, so probably that. actually probably not, they need something close. hmm dunno. good question though.
