But to be serious: what do you mean by "semi-mod" powers? Can you do anything to anyone's posts/threads aside from your own? If not, isn't it just something related to your member status and/or number of posts?
 
What's is it called when, paradoxically, a word doesn't mean what it implies? A classic example from the Simpsons would be Monster Island, which is actually a peninsula. There's a word to describe this disconnect (I think it begins with an "n"), but I can't for the life of me remember it.

Hopefully my description is understandable.

Is there any way to only combine certain buttons on Windows 7's taskbar? I like it with certain programs but hate it with others (having to click twice to open uo a chat window in MSN, for example)?

I got a startup script specifically to disable clicking icons doing that. Such a terrible UI decision. When you click it should open the program and cycle windows, not force you took look at pictures.

Yes! Panasonic FX-700 is a great camera, and comes with a 22mm leica lens. I looked a long time before buying this one as I didn't want a DSLR, but still wanted great pictures.
 
How do I find a song that I can't remember lyrics, artist name, album name, or song name.

Like not even an inkling of any of that information.

All I know is it was a "pop" rock like song that was played all the time on commercial radio during march/april 2008. Similar to Papa Roach...

OK....why is there so little dust on the moon if it's over a billion years old? I mean when Neil and Buzz stepped off the ship, they made regularly sized foot prints. Shouldn't there be at least 32 feet of dust on the moon?
 
Can I check the availability of movies on Netflix if I'm on a streaming only plan? My gf wants to tack on 2 movies, but not if her top pics have a low availability.

It probably gets blown into the atmosphere when it gets hit by a meteor or something. If a big enough comet or meteor hit it it would create a considerable dust cloud and it would have no where to go but up?

Anyways, this might be completely random, but if Gaf wouldnt midn administering a teeny bit of medical health that would be great.

I have an MCL sprain on both of my knees basically. I have had it for over a year because I'm a macho douche and i refused to take care of it. Thankfully its not too bad but after a day of walking my knees really feel it.

so i know im supposed to RICE it
REST
ICE
COMPRESS
ELEVATE

but is that all I need to do? I try my best to rest ice and elevate, so thats probably covered. Are knee compressors any good? will they really help my recovery? Also, i know im supposed to rest, but can I run and do squats and stuff (also, suggest exercises if you have any) while i rehab them?

I posted on the arts & farts thread but I'll try here just in case. Anyone knows any good setup to scan watercolor drawings/paintings? The paper ends up having a yellow-ish tone in the scanned version and if I want to use contrast/brightness (I am bad at computer editing), then the colors look really bad or bright or washed out. Sometimes I will try to simply erase the paper but it's a pain(t) in the ass.

Change the white point, not the contrats/brightness.

What program are you trying to do this with?

this is a very basic request. i have a DELL INSPIRON 530 with 1GB of installed physical memory. i'd like to upgrade that to at least 2gb, perhaps 3+. i'm very unfamiliar with how to go about doing this: i don't know where to buy the memory (cheapest and best), what my computer can handle, how to go about installing it, etc.

i imagine if i knew what to buy, where to buy it from, and how much my computer could handle, i would be able to figure out from instructions how to install it myself. but for now, my request is this: help me figure out what a DELL INSPIRON 530 can take memory upgrade-wise, and help me find the cheapest source for a great memory upgrade!

here is the documentation for my computer model regarding memory installation.

my computer sucks butts!

I use the program that came with the scanner, to scan, and for the editting, Adobe Photoshop CS4. Wish I knew how to actually use it though! I just googled white point and I'll see how it works. Thanks a lot for the fast response!

The bolded is the most important part. Check newegg under memory and you'll be able to cut down the choices on the left hand side menu.

Don't bother with buying more than 4gb as your computer only supports 4gb anyways.

Crucial has a utility you can download and will tell you what kind and how much memory your PC supports.
 
Whats considered the best monitor for PC gaming right now?

Looking for something in the 25-27" range. Would be willing to go a little bigger, no problems.

ashhong in the tech thread recommended stuff on this page of newegg, of the DDR2 variety. i ran the test on crucial and it's what it turned up. i have four slots, two of which are filled by two 512mb cards.

i think i'll get two 1gb memory cards and pop them in. think that'll fly?

Seems good to me, if you wanna make super sure everything works, pop open the case and see what brand they are get the same kind. You'll be opening up anyways so might as well see what you gotta deal with.

Thank you, I had forgot about the Discovery series, and When We Left Earth is what made me want to look for more.
 
I am supposed to figure out a way to cover like 18 square kilometer area in WiFi/radio or 3G network, powerful enough to transmit video stream (low bitrate) to the main area. How the hell?
 
So, Google image search sometimes once did a fakeout saying that my browser has found a virus and it needs to scan my PC. Closed the window immediately. Never executed any program or downloaded anything etc., and most certainly didn't run any files I didn't know what they were. I should also note that a scan with Panda comes up clear. Should I be worried?

Cursory search talks about a Google redirect virus. Is that what the site was attempting to infect my PC with? Nothing funky seems to be going on with my PC at the moment, as I've read that some of the symptoms include getting to porn or gambling sites.
