Is there any spyware or malware in that Coupon Printer program? I've typically just used someone else's computer when they let me to print coupons, but my ink is cheaper than theirs now, so I figure I'll just install it if it's safe. I know people sometimes have issues with the coupon not printing and then saying it has printed, but I'm just interested to know if it has anything that's going to screw up my system.

Is humor wildly inappropriate for a cover letter? (for a fairly entry-level admin/long-term PA position, but with a film-related firm, so I mean, they're not an accounting company or anything and hopefully welcome more levity in their day than a company in finance or something)

How about mildly self-deprecating humor? Is that automatically just a NO for a doc designed to sell yourself as much as possible?

I've always strung jobs/gigs together, one after the other, or made the right connections solely in person and on account of my personality. This is the first time I'm writing a letter like this without an 'in', so to speak, and am going in blind.

I wouldn't do it. If I read someone's letter/resume and it had humor and self depricating stuff I'd consider it unprofessional and odd. And I'd be nervous about even giving them an interview.

On a personal level though I'd love to see it to break up the monotony of the day but thats not gonna help you very much. :b

I agree with Makler. Even in person, self deprecating humor is fine in social settings but doesn't work the same way in professional settings, unless you know the person for a while or your credentials are intimidating and you want to make yourself seem like just one of the gang. Otherwise I think it may give people the impression that you have lower standards for yourself, even if it's not about work. I tend to like colleagues who are funny but not at the expense of themselves or other people. Until I get to know them and then we can joke about whatever.

Why do I keep getting this screen when looking at my posts or other people posts?

Weird, it looks like search just doesn't work for you.
Search has been turned off for years. Use the Google search in the upper right.
I'd really appreciate it if a lawyer/law school student could answer this:

If two people got married in a foreign country (ie: Iran) and then move to the US and live here for 20 years without ever getting a US marriage license but then the wife decides to get a divorce because the husband is abusive, would she be entitled to all the things that married women usually get in a divorce (child support, alimony, half of the assets, etc)?

What do people typically press to aim down the sights in FPS games on PC? On consoles, it's just so natural pulling the left trigger. What do you on PC for this?

I need a wireless pci card that let's me connect to a router which is 150 meters away from me. Is it okay to buy a regular card and change the antenna for a bigger one? Or do they make special long distance wireless cards?

Okay, here are the two question that bother me for way to much time:

Why do aluminium do not heat, but conduct heat ? When I toast a pizza in the hoven, it's roasting at 220 degrees celsius for 20 minutes and the pizza is hot as hell but the aluminium paper isn't and can be grab. But once I touch the aluminum under the pizza (indirect contact with pizza) I get burn. Is it because the aluminium paper is so thin it can't keep energy (heat) ?

Why do airports have always the same layout : arrival on first floor and departure on the upper floor ?

Why do download slow their speeds at the end?
Preloading Rage gave me a solid 1.3MB/s for the whole 21GB of it.
Get to 30MB left and it slows down to 250KB/s.

I've noticed this happen on torrents but I assumed it was to encourage seeding.

However I've seen this slowdown occur on other direct downloads too and I can't figure out why.

Do servers dynamically change priorities or something or is it overestimating previous speeds kind of like Windows and copying on USB.

On torrents I would imagine it's because as you get close to the end of the download you're looking for more specific blocks of data instead of just grabbing what's faster. So obviously it should be slower if you think about it.

No idea for regular downloads though.

Not a scientist, but foil is very thin so it cools immediately. Use an aluminum pan and it stays hot for a while.

Yeah, it quickly cools because it is so thin and it dissipates heat really quickly. As soon as the air around it become cool (ie you take it out of the oven) the tiny amount of heat that the aluminum was able to store is quickly dispersed out into the atmosphere.

I have no idea if this is the truth but here is my thought:

Departure is on the top floor since you get to the plane through a skybridge and the plane's hatch is going to be approximately even with the upper floor of a building.

Arrivals is on the lower floor because baggage claim is there and bags are unloaded at ground level.

was there anything the jumpers in the twin towers during 9/11 could have done to save themselves? What if they had emergency parachutes?

Just guessing at the kind of materials (or lack there of) they had on hand when the attacks happened, I doubt they had any other choice than to jump or be crushed under the rubble.

In the ensuing panic and shock, I doubt many of them were thinking straight anyway... Or perhaps they knew exactly what was coming. I suppose jumping would be the most gracious of suicides in that situation...?

I randomly remembered a pretty cool music video I saw years ago and I have no idea how to even begin finding it again.

The video featured a dude jumping around in the street (legs together) and getting people to join him. It was all very happy-positive.

And then the video ended with a shot of someone in a wheelchair struggling to get up to the sidewalk. I liked it. What was it?

Are there any good alternatives to Pandora? I want to find something similar, that plays artists similar to the ones I choose, but without the subscription bullshit. I just tried Pandora and it restricts the amount of tracks I can skip during a certain time period, which blows. Starting a new station kinda defeats the purpose.

I just want to find some new music.

Grooveshark? Spotify? Both have subscription options but using the free services has worked for me in the past.

I was watching the documentary about the firefighters on the night of the 10th anniversary. They commented on how in the immediate aftermath of the first plane's hit, while they were gathered in the lobby and being briefed before heading upward, they could hear the sounds of people hitting the ground. Although there was obviously other debris falling, humans hitting pavement just had a distinctive sound to it, and you could continue to hear it every now and then as they were filming. :(

I don't remember if it was before or after 9/11, but I recall seeing something on TV about guys trying to market portable parachutes intended for use out of the upper stories of skyscrapers. I think it was actually on 60 Minutes or some other news magazine show, so I'm guessing it was after.

I'm curious about where some BC-Gaffers stand on the RCMP in our province and would you like to keep them around or get a provincial police force?

With the RCMP contract running out, its possible we will get rid of them.

Does anyone else freak out a little when they have a tab that just says 'NeoGAF'? It happens on the main page or the search or whatever, but tbh I rarely remember clicking on them and worry immediately I've been banned. :lol

Does 630MB for a 15 minute video sound about right? I've been rendering in 720p as a WMV.

Any way I can bring the size down?

Yea, videos take a lot of space. You can bring the size down by changing the compresission.

There are anti-gambling laws and that's the way around it. The question makes it not just purely about chance.

Yea, it's dumb.

EDIT: I fixed my own problem nvm.

New question: When I restart my comp and switch from using ubuntu to windows 7 it wants to check my harddrive with some 3 step thing. I was wondering will this happen every single time I switch OS's on the same harddrive? I've only started using ubuntu for the first 3 hours or so.

when typing a message on my laptop on neogaf (and any website/document) when I hit caps lock, it unclicks from the writing area meaning I have to re click on the area to start typing again. the same happens when I want to turn off caps lock.

any way to change this? it is incredibly annoying.

Render as an .mp4 with h264 codec. 630mb for a 15 minute video is AWFUL. For reference I just looked at a 1m09s video I did and it's 12.2mb. Meaning your 15 minute video could be under 200mb with h264 codec. It's the bees knees.
