I keep copy and pasting things from articles into microsoft word, and it keeps staying in the format of a column. I want the text to go for the full page without me having to backspace every single line over and over again. How do I do this?

edit: it has something to do with paragraph marks or something....bleh

You could try pasting it into Notepad.

I'm on a MacBook that for some reason doesn't have iMovie. I want to rip some scenes from a DVD set to upload on YT. I used MactheRipper as a test for a full scene and it uploaded, but the clip itself was about 70 megabytes even though it was only about a minute long. Are there any Mac alternatives that're just as easy to use that doesn't make the clips take up so much space?

Also, could someone point me in the direction of a great and simple video editing freeware for Macs? I've looked around for those too, and I'd need it since I don't want to end up uploading entire chapters.

Imgur has been showing as "under maintenance" for me this entire last week. I figured it would last a day or maybe two, but I knew something was up. I asked my brother if he could check it for me to see if it was down, and it worked for him. I cleared all of my imgur cookies, but it still is showing under maintenance.

What can I do to access the site again?

I wasn't (I don't even know how to do that), I just wanted to see if it worked to see the reactions of other users on 4chan. I had no actual interest in the site. What should I do?

Clear your cache probably. If that doesn't work then I have no clue.

I'm in the UK, and there's an EP I want for the US iTunes store, can I buy it? It's thenewno2's EP002. I can't find anything saying it's coming to the UK store at all.

I've got a laptop with Windows Vista that I want to upgrade to Windows 7. Do I need to do anything before I upgrade? I've never upgraded a laptop before. Will all the function keys still work after the upgrade? Are those controlled by Windows or the BIOS?

By function keys do you mean dedicated hardware media keys that are separate from the keyboard? They will work unless they open specific things or are not standard media controls. If they do something specific you need to download the new W7 driver from your OEM. Just make sure you back up all your stuff before you format (and I recommend formatting for a clean install rather than upgrading). If you have an external drive you can basically just copy paste any root directories directly from C: that you want.

The keys are on the keyboard itself. There's a FN key and when you hold it, the F keys do different things, like adjusting the screen brightness and turning the wireless adapter on and off. I don't really have anything on it worth backing up. I used it for school and saved everything on flash drives and USB hard drives. I'll do a fresh install of Windows.

Yeah those are basically the same as dedicated keys and will work.
e: if for some reason they don't Windows will try to find a driver for them, and failing that you just have to re-download the drivers from your oem website. Vista drivers should work on W7 if W7-specifics are not available.

You're good to go dude, if you're talking about laptop function keys with the brightness and wireless buttons and other stuff, then you're going to need to download the drivers for the model of laptop you have from the manufacturers website. And next time put your question in this thread

Edit: damn beaten again.

It's been a long time since I've done a presentation.

If I copy and paste an image, I can save it to my usb drive and it'll save the images as part of the presentation right? Like the images won't disappear if I run it on a different computer using the same usb drive. Also, is there that huge of a format difference between ODP and PPT? I'm doing a presentation in Open Office, but I'll be presenting it in Powerpoint.

The noise from my new laptop is driving me extremely crazy (Lenovo edge e420). It's the only complaint I have about it, and I'd hate to have to return it if this is something fixable. I've looked on their user forums and haven't been able to get much help there. Anyone have any ideas? The noise is coming from either the fan or the CPU, and I'm inclined to think it's the CPU (sounds like typical "processing" noise).

dude cpu's don't make noise it's either your hard drive going bad or your fan. Check to see if your fan is clean.

CPUs do not make any sound. HDDs and fans do.

Edit: A constant "FFffffFFFFff" is a fan. A disruptive "Krrrkrrrkrkkkrrrkrkrr" is an HDD.

i love your description of the sounds :lol.
but yea, since it's a processing noise then it should be your hard drive.

I own a ring that recently discover that is too big for my finger due to weight loss. Is there any way to make the ring smaller or something?

How does one quote multiple people with one reply? Seriously, I can't figure it out.
There's a script that lets you multiquote with Greasemonkey. I prefer to just middle-click the quote button so it opens in a new tab, copy/paste everything into one post, and voila.

You should be fine.

lol I just did the exact same thing to my laptop 2 days ago. It had too much bloatware so I did a clean install of Windows 7. Yes you do need to download all the drivers again but that is the only thing that is slightly difficult. Also, don't be an idiot like me and not backup your settings or anything. I didn't and I just formatted my entire hard drive and deleted all the partitions so my laptop was effectively a brick. Had to spend the next 8 hours carefully making sure I wouldn't mess anything up. So to recap: Know which drivers to download, put it on a usb to quickly install, clean install windows 7, plug in usb and then download the updates for windows 7.

Also, sorry for double post.

What is the correct order to watch Gundam Wing? Is it Gundam Wing, then Gundam Wing Endless Waltz OVA, and finally Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Movie?

Thanks in advance.

Exactly but the movie just added a couple scenes not found in the OVA but the order is correct.

Why first parts of game series are later often refereed to as "vanilla"?
Because vanilla icecream is like the default one. Although it's more common used with a single release once it's been augmented with DLC.

Vanilla means plain, default, unmodified, and not just with games. "A vanilla suit."

Like StuBurns said, it's not usually for game series but games with DLC or expansions, to refer to the original game that doesn't have any expansions to modify it.

i.e. The original Company of Heroes without Opposing Fronts or Tales of Valor. Those expansions add factions and etc. as opposed to the original, "vanilla" content.

OK, thanks. I thought it might also be an HD issue, and since CPUs do not make noise (I did not know this) and I'm pretty sure it's not the fan (which is a constant whirring noise) I can only conclude it's the HD. Should I consider replacing the hard drive or contacting the manufacturer?

So if someone is calling me and leaving me text messages ( Like 50 missed calls and dozens of texts a day), is there anyway to block that persons number without calling my provider?
Can I redirect my number so that person ends up calling 911 every time he calls me? Or is there any apps out there that can block him from reaching me?

My phone is sometimes unusable because of all the calls and text messages.

Thanks

Redirecting it to call an emergency number is really a stupid idea... that aside, unless your phone is old (and I assume it's not since you're talking about apps), there should be a built-in way to block numbers, or I guess an app (what type of phone?). And there should be a way to do it with your service provider's online tools. You can't call your service provider?

I wouldn't keep number redirected to the emergency number. I figure if he gets redirected there he'll stop.

But I haven't found any options where I can block a single number from calling or texting.

The service provider charges like ten dollars per month to block numbers.

I have a iphone 4. Its locked though so I can't get any apps that require a jail broken phone.

Any suggestions?

The one calling him IS the service provider.

I've tried out Screenium for recording directly from my screen, but I think I'd still need something to edit the video after. And I'm not liking how recording something only about 1 minute long gives a video of about 160 MB.

Ah, sorry, I don't really know anything about iPhones, and a quick search shows that there aren't any options without jailbreaking. Maybe you can download Google Voice. You have to port your number to Google but it's free and it has features like blocking numbers (and just changing your number might fix your problem anyway).

That's ridiculous that your provider charges to block numbers.

I've got some large files (~100mb each) that I would like to upload to the web and let other people download. I've got dropbox, but I'd like to have multiple sources. I've heard of Mediafire, I think, but what are the best sites (in terms of professionalism) for uploading and allowing downloads?

I found a site that lets you have an account and gives you 512GBs of space for free. However, I don't know if it lets you sync like dropbox.

Seriously, how do I make the page number in Word 2010 or on google docs, not count my front page? That is, the second page should count as page 1 and so on.

In 2007, but may be similar for 2010.

under Design/Header & Footer tools, go to Page Numbers > Format page Numbers...

Set 'Start at' to 0

This will leave a 0 on your first page, so if you want rid of that, tick 'Different first page' (also under Design/Header & Footer tools)
