Those new upgraded graphics are coming to DriveClub Gif inside

Pretty cool but pretty useless.

Better AF would help a lot.
Better AA would help a lot as well, at least on cars.

We won't see that effect anywhere but from outside of the car... And not moving. It's kind of a waste of ressources.
Not true. On this particular track you'll notice it at sunrise. You can also spot it driving at night in 1st person/

Damn that is really nice. I am closer and closer to buy the game. The PS+ version have been a blast. Too bad all the problems the game had on launch and the delays with the PS+ version. Still my only complain is that is a racing game at 30fps but I can complain since I only use driveclub as a Gran Turismo substitute until the real deal is out.

They've already stated that they can apply it to other textures. And we don't know what the performance hit or gain is.

why the LOL at the framerate......why don't you look at software sales and tell me how anyone cares at FPS outside of the minority that is GAF. If people gave a crap about 60fps in everything The Witcher and Fallout 4 wouldn't be cared for/have been cared for by the console base. I also don't care if its 60 or 30. FPS doesn't matter to gen pop as long as the game is solid and works for the most part.

How's about a decent base level anisotropic filtering (4x) with at least 8 samples on the most obvious textures like the road?

I don't get these posts, the game has solid AA. It didn't at launch, but it's been massively improved IQ wise since launch.
AA has indeed improved, ok, but it could improve a bit more. AF on the other hand is probably the worst in an exclusive game.

Well, i'm not sure i will notice the improvements but still, i love DC. Bought the Bikes pack recently and man, sooo goood !!!

This is truely the best racing game this gen, to me anyway...

I'm increasingly convinced we will see a Driveclub 2. If they consolidate all the strides they've made and release a $60 package with Cars, Bikes, (and Off-road?), it would be a very solid package. Considering everything they've learned over the course of DC's development and release, I have to imagine DC2 would resonate much better with critics.

I can see a scenario where we get GT: Sport in Summer 2016, DC2 in March 2017, and GT7 in Fall of 2017.

I'm not very technically savvy so I apologize if this is a stupid question. But would this technique work on trees? Or is it limited to flat surfaces? While DC has some nice trees for a racer I think self shadowing would add a lot of depth.

I always was saying that PoM is one of the best graphical upgrades You can do to Your game. Glad that more and more devs are trying it and pushing it.

About tech, great and all, but tech is quite old :)

How can another driving game beat it graphically when the bar keeps getting higher lol

The thread title confused me. They already patched this texture in, I'm surprised nobody pictured it already.

Rushy said something on Twitter earlier about adding "tyre deformation" in December.

Is he serious? That's crazy attention to detail.

Tire deformation is kind of par for the course in racers.

Driveclub always had a "soft" look to it especially in broad daylight, but I would never class it as blurry. I love how this game gets constant graphical upgrades.

Even just following it as a non-PS4 Owner, it sounds like the game that never stopped development, and it's great for that. This amount of post-launch attention and tweaking is so rare, even for games that continue selling post-launch DLC.

Terrific stuff. Just to be clear - this will be implemented, yes? The lower tweet from Paul says it's a trial applied to one material, somewhat suggesting otherwise.

Driveclub still has many of the same issues that got it the bad review scores at launch.

Such as?

Time for Evolution to move on. Yes look great as you drive by at 100 mph. Put the tech towards another IP.

Why is it time for Evo to move on? They've ended up selling 2+ million copies as stated in this thread. Clearly it's a success. Clearly it's still generating revenue. Clearly people are enjoying it and the continual addition of content. Seems like another driveby.

Sounds like Evo are trying their best to make sure DC will still be around in next years screenshots thread.

Mission accomplished.

Wth is this thread?! These posts...kinda makes me want to find some names and go worming thru the fallout graphic/framerate threads. Such a beautiful game already and its only gotten better sound very bitter in here

They are not tessellated. This is POM, that also has self-shadowing.
To respond to your post in the other thread; I knew about crysis and the POM's. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the tweet. Funny thing is Rushy stated these changes or the same or cheaper than the current model. I really think developers should invest in Tessellation and POM's.

Without the weather effects I always found Driveclub rather flat and bland, but hopefully these new tricks make it pop a bit more.

I'd personally rather they not add stuff and work on hitting 60fps. I can only imagine they continue to work on DC because of VR or a potential sequel that's in the works.

Where did yo read that they are working on getting the game to work at 60fps on the regular version, they are optimizing that for VR, taking effects out and what not.

The singleplayer graphics improvements were annouced a while ago, and there is no intention on getting the game at 60 fps on the non-VR version.
