This is a form of digital terrorism. The ban was not an actual ban, just stopping Apple and Android ability to update the app.

China is doing it for US to bend the knee. Let's see.

It will be back up when the new administration comes in and then we'll see everyone backpedal when Musk tries to buy it.

That’s so crazy. The Chinese Malware rumor has been circulating forever but I honestly thought it would not come to this.

It seems very heavy handed. To be fair though the Chinese government has not been very accommodating to US businesses operating In China; forcing sales of IP and ownership to function. So I guess it’s tit for tat for TikTok.

I don't know how I feel about this.

On one hand, tiktok is rotten garbage that doesn't need to exist. I hate that people's attention spans have gotten so short that something like is even popular to begin with.

On the other hand, I thought this was a free country? All this ban this, and ban that is not something a free country would do. Is the ban completely related to it being chinese owned? In that case, there should be dozens, if not hundreds other bans being put into effect. Where's the genshin impact ban? Why single this one out?

Yeah, where's the Temu ban? It collects just as much data if not more than Tik Tok. You can't organize on Temu, that's why it stays. I was originally on board with the ban, because TikTok is 90% rotten garbage, but after looking further into it, the reasons for banning it are way more sinister.
