Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

Damn these awful maps! The game has so much potential even with the first tech test, but these maps are so awful :(
This game feels like a better Black Ops 3, but with Ghost's Stonehaven like maps :(

Again why are deadzones in the middle of the map? Isn't this the kinda shit you take into consideration but your design and finalize a map?

Everyone is a robot cause of the stupid hook being attached to the "skin".. and everyone wants the hook

The grappling hook is a great addition that feels almost mandatory. And yeah, I hate the way so many characters look like ugly bots. The art design seems like a step back in this game too.

Well went back and played the original again after 3 matches of t2

Still better in every conceivable way
Yep. Better Titans. Better maps. Better movement. Burn cards. Better modes. The list goes on.

I wouldn't be opposed to them just adding the first game to PS4 and just calling that TF2 lol

After playing more of weekend two... I think it doesn't really matter what kind of changes they make...

The maps suck. Period.

off the bat the game feels like it forgot who it was. it's so slow. getting from point A to B now feels like work.

I feel like they sold out in a attempt to beat cod. It seems like a game in between cod and T1. This game will never make real T1 players happy. I think we might see T1 drop off rate again.

I feel like I'm getting around pretty fast now. This complaint is being parroted around but people didn't instantly know how to get around fast in the first game either.

I'm enjoying the new map. Lots of interiors for Pilots to mess around in, and plenty of space for Titan action.

They aren't supposed to be separate... The whole map is supposed to flow together for Titans and pilots. There aren't nearly enough parkour areas, or even spots you can tell were set up to parkour well! It's almost an afterthought.

Played it all evening and liking it more. Only played 4 matches last weekend because Hardpoint had a broken titan meter and the other 2 modes are trash IMO.

I agree with the general consensus that most/all of the TF1 maps are better than these. The TF1 maps for the most part had lots of ways to get around both on foot and in a titan. The new maps are bottleneck central. I do think they might be less bad if/when we get Attrition mode because then there will be more opportunities to use the full playing areas and take the paths less traveled. One thing about the new maps is they are much easier to learn and to get your bearings. Maybe it's partly due to repetition over the same 3 maps but I've played probably something like 700-800 TF1 matches and I still don't really feel like I know those maps well. I'm not saying this is a good thing at all. If anything it shows how the new maps are more dumbed down.

Still, I think there's a solid/good game here. Maybe a bit disappointing in that it's not the sequel many of us expected. But I think the gun play is great, everything is fluid, dedicated servers seem to be holding up well. Even with some warts this is better than any COD game in the last 5 years or so in my opinion. I'll beat the dead horse again and say that a lot is going to depend on if they come through with Attrition mode. This hardpoint mode isn't bad but I want an all out war mode with more flexibility to use the whole map.

Just played for 5 minutes. So you really cannot do anything when you rodeo other than let the animation play out?

I feel like I just be playing a totally different game than everyone else, lol.

Bounty hunt is better than attrition, sorry. It just is.

My only complaint now is being put into so many games in progress.

Man just went back and looked up all the old maps. So good, there was so much personality in these old maps, each felt unique and complex. Tf2 maps feel like generic call of duty fodder.

The negative word of mouth might just sink this game before it even launches. They really fucked up this game.

I'm sure EA is looking at the pre-orders. If it is looking really bad they'll probably delay it for that reason alone. Might be for the best anyway. Gives the devs more time to make the game more like their audience wants it to be.

GOOD

The gunplay is still great and the movement/mobility is good.
Art design/graphics are really good. I love they way the game looks.
The Mastiff is easily on of the best shotgun ever. Great job on that one guys.
The grappling hook is a really cool addition and it's super fun to use. Grappling a pilot is fuuuuuuuuuuun.
The unique Titans are great and I can't wait to see the others. Scorch <3

BAD

No atrition? >:( Bounty Hunt is not a good replacement for the most popular game mode in the firt game.
The maps are super simplified compared to TF1
Third person animations for entering Titans and executions. A big no.

The shield/battery mechanic. Every Titan should spawn with a regen shield and the battery should take away the shield if a pilot takes it. Also I feel like the player should have to jump off the titan by himself instead of it being automatic.
TTK with amped weapons is waaaaaaaaaaay too fast.

Overall I'm having fun but it's sad to see that TF1 fixes a lot of the problems of TF2.

It's hard to believe the new map is worse than the previous two.

Playing this literally just makes me want to go play titanfall1

The maps are awful designed both for titan and pilots said it earlier in this thread. Not only that i got stuck between stuff that i thought it wouldn't happen there is no parkour here unlike titanfall 1. It is also to small for titans.

If people really want to play titanfall 1 you should get it now on xbox one for 5 dollars orso after that the deal ends but i had more FUN in titanfall 1 and titanfall 2 is more frustration than having fun.

Yeah the third person stuff is a real drag too. I loved the feeling of seeing up close my Titan grabbing me and pulling in. I loved seeing up close when I execute a pilot out of his Titan and crush his body.

Some of the small changes man. They're small, it they go a long way.

The maps all feel so utterly empty. Bounty hunt almost incentivizes not engaging other pilots because you risk losing your bonus, so some rounds it just feels like each team claims an AI spawn zone and clears it without much interference. Coupled with the much simpler maps and wide open spaces it leaves everything so flat. Attrition in TF1 had an inherent urgency that feels completely lost.

What I've played of the new map seems better than the other 2, but that's not saying much. And holy shit do I want to be able to chain wallruns again. I loaded up TF1 this week after not playing for years, and was jumping all over the place almost instantly.

Hardpoint with the AI, CTF, and LTS were incredible, incredible modes in TF1. Personally, i enjoyed them far more than Attrition. It's crazy to me how much they ruined hardpoint in this one.

This game has this constant nagging feeling of "oh man, this could be really really fun" since the gunplay is solid and who doesn't like big mechs? But there's just so many weird odd things that make it not all that fun to play. Then you realize that 1 solved a lot of these problems already, and you wonder if 1 isn't the sequel to 2.

I like the risk and reward of depositing your winnings.

Attrition was just death match with bots. It wasn't anything special.
Except it forced you to constantly be on the move so you could find your targets faster. That's the thing about it. It was fast paced and heavily involved movement. That's what Titanfall is all about. Bounty Hunt is "go to an objective and stand there while you kill things for a couple minutes."

Basically, either stand still most of the match, or use the best goddamn movement system ever created most of the time.

And you're argument about Attrition not being anything special is really not a good argument because neither is Bounty Hunt. Blood Money from Hardline is basically the same thing.

And bounty hunt requires you to be constantly on the move between the dz and the banks, and defending or attacking them. Plus there's the added motivation to get to the bank without losing your bonus.

Its better than attrition because it actually has teamwork involved and an objective other than killing other players and ai.

Man this shit should have been a slam dunk but they fucked it up badly. Even something simple like rodeoing a titan is complete shit.

If cancer had branding its logo would be titanfall 2

Constantly on the move between the dz and banks? The waves are like 2 to 3 minutes long, I wouldn't call that "constantly."

Also, Bounty hunt is also just killing things because all the objectives involve killing certain AI, whether it be regular AI, or the super Titan.

75% of it is standing near an objective and shooting stuff. Only 25% of it actually involves movement, and that leads to standing still at a bank for a few seconds.

I feel like it can be fixed, but not by its current release date. It needs more maps, good maps, and then a host of other changes before release. The game as is will be savaged by BF1 and Cod IW.

Youre being extremely reductive and this is the reason I can't the take titanfall 2 hate seriously.

You just stand by the bank? You don't try to steal other players bounties? You don't get pissed when you lose a bounty on the way to the bank or feel relief when you deposit a ton that puts your team ahead?

You dont try to be the first one there by being the fastest?

Just got stuck in a tree while on the way to the bank and died because out of bounds, had like $1000+ on me.

Not touching Bounty Hunt anymore, if I wanted frustrating multiplayer I'll play BO3.

Pfft! Most of my bounty hunt games involve people chilling near the banks the whole time.
