Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

I think someone gave me a battery once. To make this mechanic work you need to incentivize it better.

They should start everyone's Titans with a shield, so people don't keep them for themselves.

And they should highlight that giving any ally a battery gives you a ton of points towards your Titan.

The third person entering animation is really jarring because you still pilot the Titan in first person.

First -> Third -> First

I think earlier someone said it was a tech reason. Something about the inside of the Titan being rendered differently which requires this change.

Then hopefully they can speed it up.
When is this amped happy hour? Should be now no? I'm terrible with time zones.
In 30min from now, tomorrow (?)

Why did I bother reading the announcement? I guess its today? Now I'm confused too.

Edit: 9am PDT/ 4pm UTC/ 11pm UTC

Its more exciting/challenging/skillful than finding somewhere to hide so your shields regenerate... The complaints about this game are so dumb.

Everyone's bandwagoning onto hating the game acting like they were such big fans of the first. Who was talking about titanfall 1 on this board before!?!??!

I made a rttp thread about it a year or so ago and got like 12 replies. Now its like every member of this site played it until last week religiously.

Ive always posted that TF1 is awesome. The only thing I probably said I was disappointed with is the fact that LTS isnt active on PC anymore. (LTS being the best mode imho)
I think these people are indeed the fans. Other games have come out since then though, so they may not have play until last week, but they do know what they liked about the game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ill put my two cents in a s a TF1, a alpha player last week, and playing some last night.

Basically, it feels better than last week, and there is a good game here, but it's not TF, nor is it as good as TF. THAT SAID... I like it well enough. There is potentially still a very good game here. There's not enough time to make it the sequel that those of us into TF were looking for and it's super disappointing, but there is enough time to get this game to something still pretty fun.

I know that sounds probably bad... but its WORLDS better than what I was saying last week. Still the most disappointed Ive been in a game in I dont know how long, but once I started treating it as something new... while I STILL have issues regardless... its pretty fun IMO and theres potential. Hopefully they continue to listen to the community and make the changes they can.

Oh just stop now. You have already been proven wrong by someone posting that thread. No one is bandwagoning a damn thing. The game isn't that fun. Had we not been invested into TF1 to begin with, then maybe most of us wouldn't be so disappointed. I keep forcing myself to play the tech test only to enjoy one game or so and find the others sorely lacking. It just isn't all that great.

You guys have to chill with Titanfall defense shit. Its fine to like it, but damn. Some of you are acting personally offended that people aren't happy with it. It's more than earned the ire that it's getting. I like destiny a lot, might be one of my favorite games overall, but it's not a perfect game. People throw a lot of random hate at the game, but many times, they're not wrong. I don't feel the need to proclaim that everyone is on a bandwagon or incessantly make excuses for bungie. Whatever happens with the game is on the dev, not me.

PAUSE.

Everybody wait, I need to get out of my 50 foot tall battle mech to pick up a battery refill.

*record scratch noise, freeze frame of pilot jumping between two battling titans while holding a battery*

"Yep that's me, you're probably wondering how I got myself into this situation in the first place..."

So, is there a battery slot in the back of the pilot's seat? When I first went to put a battery in my own Titan, I tried to rodeo it.

Edit:
yerp. if you carrying a battery, just get in and it`ll get the charge.
I was being facetious. It makes no logical sense.

Did they make the movement adjustments they suggested? haven't had much time to play but enjoyed the first beta. I played this one last night but couldn't tell the difference. It was still fun.

I feel like the sniper is kind of janky. Often feels like I should have hit someone but the shot is delayed or something like that. I like that it instantly kills people but I find I need to be really steady with the shot to make that happen consistently.

It also doesn't feel worthwhile overall, to not take an anti titan weapon.

The Kraber and Double Take are not hitscan weapons so you need to lead your shot a little.

can confirm

guys obviously we are just time travellers and what we used to play was the sequel

Re: Pilot V Pilot ... I mean they provide the player populations so it's puzzling why it's back for the sequel.

So what exactly is the point of the epilogue? Is there some benefit to successful escaping/killing off the enemy team? So far I'm not really a fan of it. Feels like a waste of time for the match to keep on going when it's already been decided.

If you manage to escape, you get a bunch of bonus experience and the other team gets a bunch for killing the ship. Just a way to get extra rewards.

Riots in the streets if they removed this.

My mistake. I must have been thinking of a different thread someone else made. That thread got a lot of attention because it was about how the game population was dwindling already and i loved the game.

but anwyay let the shitting on this game resume. I'll go have fun with it instead of trying to talk any sense into people.

Without the voice overs and general feeling of being on an actual battlefield the epilogue feels pretty weak.

I really want to read the "final hours" Keighley piece on this, if it exists, because alot of these game decisions seem so strange.

I feel like the score limit is way too low. At least in armed hard point. It feels like all my matches are ending in less than 5 minutes.

Ah ok I see.

Sorry that not everyone likes the game. If it makes more sense to like the game, then how come more people hate it than like it?

You act like you know better than everyone else about this game.

are you guys using the new "bunny hop" movement? It's really fun and actually pretty challenging to time it.

Or just a video of a dude doing it well

I'm only really able to use it to go in a straight line but it's pretty useful when you're trying to get away from someone or rodeo a titan. You move real fast.
I need a scuff to do this effectively.
Or claw, but I dont want arthritis :(

It was actually a lot of fun in Titan fall 1. It went along with the idea that you didn't have to perform well to have a lot of fun. And people loved the shot at extra XP.

It was an excuse to do some awesome elusive parkour. It's kind of a drag in this game, because navigating the map is a lot less fun.

Heh, that reminds me of the old CSS bhop technique

I wouldn't be surprised if this behavior was unintentionally brought over from the vanilla source engine

Bounty hunt mode really is fucking awful. Got killed from halfway across the map and lost half of my bounty, then immediately got spawn killed when I respawned and lost half again.

It's no wonder people camp when the mode is full of bullshit like that.

Design aside, why are the maps so generic? I can't get a feel for what any of them are even supposed to be. TF1's maps had a lot of character. Angel City had a port city feel with all the billboards and massive ships in the skybox. Relic had that giant IMC ship crash landed in the middle of the map. Fracture, while not even that great of a map, had that awesome theme of fracking gone totally bonkers.

Didn't have those problems in my Bounty Hunt games, still I need my Attrition.
And I hope they won't do achievements for Pilot vs Pilot, because its so damn terrible.

Ahhh, that might work. I'll check it out. I like melee on RS but I can adjust.

Edit: whoops. double post.

I went form Bumper Jumper to Evolved. I thought I colud adjust too, but it's damn hard. I figured however that you can avoid titan puches by crouching. :)

The Happy Hour thing is on btw, played a match but didn't get any info if I unlocked the card.

It still says happy hour is in 10 hours for me? But I'm still getting happy hour bonus XP?

Side bar, now that I'm finally playing this. Holy shit. Really hope they delay. It feels like a shell of OG Titanfall so far.

Everything feels so empty without grunts, specters, busy skyboxes, and NPC dialogue and video frames.
