Its not a lack of willpower, its that these issues are so overblown.
I both agree and disagree with this.
Games being on Origin isn't a big deal.
Games being on GFWL was a big deal. I once spent
two hours trying to get Bioshock 2 to work back when it still used GFWL. The game had been out for years and the problem had never been fixed.
Ridiculous amounts of DLC is not an overblown issue. Take games like Mass Effect 3 and Final Fantasy XIII-2 for instance: These games are virtually
incomplete without their (hilariously expensive, never-on-sale) DLC.
Bad ports are a legitimate issue, and anyone who says otherwise has never played the PC versions of Dark Souls, Resident Evil 4, Chrono Trigger PSX, Myst 3 for PS2, etc. Bad ports can make games unplayable.
Games having DRM is not a big deal. Most applications of DRM are non-invasive and not troublesome in the least. The only bad DRM I can name off-hand is GFWL. Ubisoft's uPlay is second on that list, but it's not a
bad DRM--it's just very annoying.
Microsoft wanting to exploit its consumers in every possible way? That's a legitimate issue, especially considering they
currently work with the NSA and are not legally required to inform you whether the Xbox One will forward any of your data to the NSA.
I think gamers bring up more legitimate issues than overblown ones.
