Tite Kubo's Bleach Manga Nears Ending

Its official, Kubo has become a parody of himself :hurr

Still better than Kishi and modern Mashima though. Going from greatness like Rave to something like Fairy Tail was...sad.
Goodness no, Kubo is making Naruto's last arc look good. Fairy Tail though? I actually couldn't stomach that garbage anymore after that fucking stupid promotion arc years ago.

What happened to the powers Ichigo gained during the Facebook friend arc? Any of those skills come in to play anymore?

The facebook friends actually came back as characters. They were gonna train with Ganju, the brother of that one-armed big boobie chick from Soul Society arc.

They haven't been seen in like a year now lol

We'll see it then the next page it turns useless because of counter. Like that bad joke of a fight when
Yamamoto got fucked by Kubos bad writing.

Dude, that's when I gave up.

Ok, so you took multiple chapters to FINALLY explain the most powerful Bankai there is (seriously, that shit was just nuts but... freaking cool I'll admit) and then boom, he dies due to ''sorry, plot twist, I have a Double'' so now i'll just kill you''.

get some go again
If Inuyasha could get its ending adapted then I still have hope for Bleach.

(unless Inuyasha is actually massively more popular, not sure how Japan ranks these two)

Inuyasha wasn't a hot mess compared to Bleach.
inuyasha's anime stopped and didn't go into filler hell or make up it's own ending. it was a good candidate to continue. if i remember correctly the bleach anime went into filler hell and had bad ratings.

I imagine it'll string along for a good while. If nothing else, Kubo is the master at having absolutely nothing happen and yet have the plot somehow progress.

From you guy's responses, I guess its not that good...

At this point I think to myself: Was Bleach ever good? I want to say yes but... there's alot there I remember that wasn't complete.

I apologise in advance for being a bit vague here but was the Soul Society arc the first big arc where Ichigo meets a lot of the Shinigami for the first time ? I remember loving that and then there was something about Ichigo meeting vampires and he just seemed to get his ass kicked constantly by everyone. Never watched it after that, does he spend a lot of time just getting ass whooped after that ? That annoyed me so much I ended up ditching the anime series and never going back. The NDS Treasure fighting game was awesome though.

I think it was good at some point, but Kubo just has the problem of taking for-freaking-ever to get anywhere (and apparently his editors didn't help but getting him to put the spotlight on each and every new character since they were popular, or so I've read).

Its a pity because I do think he's a good artist, he is absolutely great with fashion, and contrary to what some think, the guy does plan things out quite a bit when it comes to stories. If he was reined in a bit, he'd be better.

This last arc could've been better but when you introduce something like 28 new enemies all at once (probably more, since the "principal" mooks each held one of the alphabet, and there were some unlisted ones too) and each of them, as well as each of the good guys, gets their time in the spotlight...it takes forever.

I love how the man bad guy is like I'm leaving through this portal. Since there is no more Save points after this checkpoint make sure you finish all active quests and obtain all necessary items before continuing to the end of the manga.

The Soul Society arc introduced roughly one million new Shinigami/Soul Reapers, yes. The "Vampire" arc you're thinking of is the Bount arc. It's the first filler arc (so it's exclusive to the anime) and it's very bad.

I'd honestly love to see an anime adaptation of this arc, provided it's super condensed, and still has the same music. Just use the Arrancar powering-up music (with the chorus and violin) every time a Quincy powers up and I'll be all set.

Can you imagine seeing all that bullshit with the Mexican wrestler who looks like a complete scrub but manages to off-screen so many characters until he is beaten by Renji of all characters, condensed into one episode?

Anime-only watchers desperately need to see that; and Gremmy somehow forgetting to use his powers to weaken Kenpachi's body even though he had just done that against Yachiru (and by the way, she's a zanpakuto spirit, so how the hell did that work, and how did she have a shikai in the first place?!) and creating a black hole which Kenpachi somehow escapes from; and Aizen's brief but hilarious troll moments; and Hitsugaya turning into a zombie then not then turning into an adult because why not; and Mayuri straight up stealing the resolution to the Itachi vs. Kabuto fight in Naruto; and that sniper guy turning into a fucking owl (and by the way, he's technically still not dead because he split up into a bunch of owl things and he's fighting zombie Kira right now by the way Kira's a zombie now); and so so much more.

Ohhhh, now I remember where I stopped, the sniper dude was fighting head captain drunkard, man I missed out on Owl powers by Kubo Tite? instant regret.

The luchadore stuff was so hilarious, I unashamedly enjoyed that whole bit.

Ah thanks yeah Bount sounds familiar. It was fuckin dreadful, guess I shouldn't be surprised it was a filler arc. Saying that I don't think I could go back to Bleach anyway, avoided that rabbit hole thankfully.

The owl stuff got...really weird.

Like, imagine an Angel from Evangelion as an owl, and you're probably on the right track.

Current arc isn't bad, but a bit too long. There's a certain quality to Kubo zaniness that I can't resist. I just want to see Aizen fight the main bad.

Bleach was amazing when Kubo just stuck to his guns and made a good mix of action and comedy. Up to the first half of the Hueco Mundo arc, it was a legitimately good manga, villains had simple and cool powers. Then it went downhill and nothing makes sense anymore.

Most current villains make King Crimson sound fucking reasonable.

Yes. Kubo slow pacing forced Studio Pierrot to do filler in the middle of the arcs. Amagai Captain, Zanpakutou Rebellion for example. On top of that, they also had to add mini fillers arcs or random episodes. And then, after the end of Fake Karakura Town, they added another filler arc.

Personally, I believe the anime shouldn't return. That ending is miles better than whatever Kubo plans to do.

Nothing could make Sakura look good. Ever.

I'm sad that 666 Satan(kishimoto's own brothers manga) and other great series like Psyren got canceled yet Naruto was able to live on for so long

Considering how little interaction they've had on the past like 8 years who even cares anymore?

Ichigo and Rukia was largely the reason i started the series to begin with, and a lot of other people with shipper glasses on. They have a great relationship whether we see it as romantic or otherwise and for a lot of us, we want to see a good payoff at the ending. So i am obligated to stay with the series until the ending, no matter how shitty and cringe worthy it gets.

The only thing I remember about the bount arc was some old man summoning this scenery devouring whale, that's the kind of thing that sticks with you.
Also pretty sure Mayuri bested him, he stays winning.

The owl stuff got...really weird.

Now I really need the Bleach anime to take one last arc.

It's like Kubo just went into self parody with the abilities that start popping up, you never knew just what broken nonsense would come next and there is a certain appeal in that.

I agree on him being a good artist. And he definitely has an eye for fashion too. But I'm calling bullshit on him planning far ahead. The storytelling just doesn't match up with that. Otherwise he would be able to foreshadow more and not have so many ass pulls. He doesn't even introduce elements for future arcs in current arcs to get the ball rolling. There is a dead stop, everything is reset to how it was before, and then a bunch of new characters get introduced. And with those new characters we get a bunch of new terms and new abilities that contradict things we've seen before. Instead of playing by the rules that he has created, he just makes up new ones.

At the very most, he has left a character's history vague so he could fill in the gaps later. But that isn't planning ahead. Otherwise there would be hints. Stuff like the revelation about Ichigo's mother is a prime example. An event is presented one way and then they say "Oh no no, this is what really happened" and then there is a convoluted explanation for why it makes sense.

I imagine it's due to some contract shit from long ago, otherwise Bleach probably would have been cancelled many times by now.

I'll never forgive WSJ and japanese readers for cancelling Double Arts. Everrrr

if they hype it up correctly, they could pull it off.

for one, if the manga is over by then, they don't have to worry about filler, which was one of the things people hated the most about the original anime. they could probably fit a dozen chapters per anime episode considering kubo's pace and make it look like things go pretty fast and intense.

of course, i think the actual ending will be a wild card here. if it's decent, it could help the hype but if it's a crap ending then they're screwed since a bad ending would kill people's desires to see the whole thing animated.

Bleach was weird in that the fillers were often infinitely better than the canon stuff in terms of characters, fight choreography (aren't restricted to follow kubo's garbage framing).

Anime went to shit when it stopped playing NUMBER ONE though.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
I watched some videos summarizing the Blood War and it really does show how very little has actually happened.

The Blood War began Chapter 480. The latest to come out was 680.
You could cut out so much and retell it in like 60 chapters.

What is the longest decent/readable manga? Bleach just seems to have run way too long for its own good.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure has been running since 1986 and is still great.
One Piece since 1997 and still in top form.

Here's a list of the longest manga, though a lot of them are sports or slice of life.

I've heard of Jojo but didn't know it was long running or how good it was. Might check it out eventually. Also been thinking about getting into One Piece. Forgot how well revered it is. Catching up to such a long series seems daunting though. I'll give it a shot anyways

No, Bleach sells while enough and been around long enough for Jump to just let Kubo do his thing and let it run. Ratings don't really matter as long as sales haven't continued to fall off.

Man, didn't Ichigo's high school friends get some kind of power up? Not to Shinigami levels, but still something. Ichigo's sisters too. And Kubo never did anything with that.

This manga sucks.

Man, what happened to Kon? I miss the simpler days of Bleach when Asterisk was an OP that hinted at a slice of life series masquerading as an action show.

Asterisk was peak Bleach for me. Such a stylish opening, and I'm one of those weirdos that liked Bleach more before they went to Soul Society and it turned into DBZ with swords. If only the rest of the show/manga had stayed as stylish and cool-looking as Asterisk.

This manga sucks.

They even hinted that Ichigo's sister Karin might become a Shinigami or something more important, since she was meeting with Urahara regularly right after the time jump and her powers had become stronger.

And it was never mentioned again.

Kon showed up....for some reason in a big muscle form. He apparently was hiding in Ichigo soul reaper uniform (how he not know he was there...?).He may still be there.

You aren't the only one. It was more simple yet entertaining and the characters could have been developed more.

Same. Although I did like the SS arc because of what it did to that world. The beginnings of Bleach were what I enjoyed the most. When it was about Ichigo discovering his potential with Rukia alongside him and the mysteries of his past being uncovered little by little. By the time Hueco Mundo came around, I felt it was a little too much and the characters I liked quickly became an afterthought like Rukia and Sado.

Oh well, it is what it is.

That makes no sense why do these people rate it down then buy the tanks anyways? lol

It's not, OP is a pretty smooth read, give it a shot.

Rating matter more so for newer series than old. Kochikame been running for like 40 years and gets bad ratings but still around. Time being around there does mater, that and loyal enough fans are still willing to buy it.
