Tite Kubo's Bleach Manga Nears Ending

This news came from Volume 73, which includes Chapters 664-674.
The chapters that haven't been collected are 675-680. If the final volume contains 11 chapters as well, then there's at least five chapters left. Maybe six.

Either way, this is going to be a rushed as hell ending with no satisfaction. Should have ended when you were on top Kubo.

Christ. It may very well surpass Reborn at this point.

That first OP inspires so much nostalgia in me its incredible. So much has changed for me since then.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the anime, but that OP definitely captured the unique eccentricity of the manga's early days.

To Reborn's credit, it was apparently canceled. The author definitely wanted to continue with the series, and even drew concepts of what she wanted to do.

Oh wow, really? Granted, I already thought it was mediocre long before it ended, but that'd explain a lot.

So... 6 more chapters?!? 6 Chapters to invade the final castle, beat the final boss and do the epilogue?

I thought we saw the worst Bleach could do yet.

Seems I was wrong.

oh wow

Talk about the most boring, nonsensical climax ever. This is even worse than Black Cat.

God help us if the ending's worse than Reborn's. I'd say that would take some effort, but considering Bleach's output in the last several years...

I haven't read it in a long time, but what was wrong with Black Cat's climax? Do you mean the anime?

Going by how Gerard was killed off, I wouldn't be surprised if even Kubo was caught by surprise about this (as in, the editors decided to cancel it recently).

Yea we havent seen the dads fight yet or release their bankai/special moves so that shouldve been like 20-30 chapters right there

How many more times will we get the shock "it's behind you!" panel template before this ends? I'm hoping we can squeeze two more in there.

I haven't read Bleach since the Fullbring arc and I took a look at the powers & transformations part of Ichigo's wiki page and good god

The ending is going to reveal that Aizen is a high school teacher at Karakura High and the entire manga was a story Ichigo wrote for an assignment.

Aizen gives Ichigo an F and smirks.

THE END

I recall it moseying along okay (emphasis on "okay") until one of the characters stood up and said "we should go fight the bad guy."

And then they...go do that. To my memory the ensuing fights were dull/rushed and it left at least one or two plot threads hanging.

I've only ever seen a couple anime episodes so I can't give a definite opinion on it. Regardless, I consider it, Reborn and Beelzebub the most mediocre of popular WSJ works. However, I'd still much rather read it (or at least the earlier volumes) than whatever the hell Bleach devolved into.

Also, somewhat unrelated, but I've never been able to look at Train the same way after certain reviews compared his oversized buttons to Krispy Kremes.

Lol there's no time for Ichigo and Uryuu's fathers to do anything. Didn't they show up in a few panels a month ago?

It's seriously amazing how much shit I've forgotten mere minutes after I read a chapter. God, this manga blows.

I bet all of the remaining old guard will go into the final battle (off page, of course), and Ichigo and Rukia's generation will be left to pick up the pieces.

Just found out that this has 5-6 chapters left. Glad it's finally coming to a close, but I'm not sure Kubo can pull off a good ending here. Really hope he proves everyone wrong. I recall Yu Yu Hakusho (anime) had a pretty rushed ending, but it felt satisfying regardless.

I will never get over how Bleach started off as this stylish and charming urban fantasy and then quickly devolved into the most trite application of the battle shounen formula I've seen.

He ran out of
Bleach

A perfect note to finish the manga on, "Ooooh so that's why it's called Bleach"

Thats great ending. It will better than what kubo would come up with.

So what will replace bleach as a top shonen jump series?

First arc of Bleach is so good.

I refuse to believe there are only 5-6 chapters left.
As much as I want this tire fire of a manga to end, that's way too soon.

Though the nonsense that happened last chapter does kinda seem like Kubo just found out he got canned 2 weeks ago and had to do....something.

Hmm, that would be One Piece. Bleach never shined stronger than that. Maybe at certain arcs, but otherwise Bleach has been in the gutter popularity wise for a long time now (which explain the probable axe down)

This made me realize that Tite Kubo is kind of like the Brian Michael Bendis of manga. Does okay at writing street level urban stuff but when things start to get over the top in fantasy or science fiction it becomes garbage.

It feels like everything up until Rukia's kidnapping was written by a different person.

I tried to read the manga in 2012, but had to stop once Soul Society arc ended. I know lot of people seem to like that arc, but it just felt abysmally paced, with the plot coming into screeching halt every time a new battle begins (each battle lasting for around 150-200 pages at worst), just for the plot to advance three steps, and then stop again. The battles had no tension to them either, with the repetitiveness making them very predictable and boring.

I don't know if Arrancar/Blood War arc is better, but I doubt it. I did like first six volumes or so, they showed lot of promise.

Jump must have pulled the rug from under Kubo, because I couldn't imagine he'd had dragged this story as much as he did if he knew ahead of time that this volume would be the last.

I cannot imagine the manga having a satisfying ending now. It's going to be super rushed and shitty.

One Piece, Hunter x Hunter and JoJo will never end. 100 years.

Man, I remember liking the the Fullbringer arc, but feeling really bored in the quincy war arc, it was a bunch of chapters of absolutely nothing. I hope Kubo is forced to use its panels to the fullest to finish the story in 6 chapters, I think he can do it.

One piece easily has more then a decade left in it

Hxh no one knows. Constant hiatus plus little to no main plot thread means it's hard to gage.

Jojo will go on forever. It can soft reboot infinite times. Going by Arakis age I'd say part 9 is the end.

So what is the point to add ichigo's father and uryu's father just a few chapters ago?

What a mess of final arc.

No it only gets worse, a lot worse.

Bleach only gets worse as it goes on, first arc is the best, then it gets a lot worse in SS, then it just takes a complete nose dive with the Arrancar crap.

I do think the Fullbring arc was alright, but should have come after SS.
Coming right after the Aizen stuff was random and made people hate it.

Ah, excellent, I only have another 30 or so volumes to complete my Bleach manga collection then. :)

Yeah I know the series has gotten bad, but it's an entertaining level of bad at least. Still my overall favourite Manga but I feel Death Note and FullMetal Alchemist will beat it out eventually.

Thank god they're mercy killing it. Bleach moves at such a glacial pace, I've sometimes wondered how someone can get away with dedicating entire chapters to a single characters attack.
