Today's dumbest thread: I bought a Wii U yesterday, kinda regreting it

OK, this is hilarious.

Yeah. OP, if you are concerned about hardware just as much as gameplay, I recommend that you build yourself a gaming PC. I was in a similar position to you at the start of this gen wherein I couldn't justify to myself purchasing fairly low-power hardware just to play a specific handful of games (and they are really good games, sadly), so I bought a powerful computer and became a PC gamer.

Yeah, because booting up Windows and starting a game through Steam afterwards is MUCH faster than quickstarting a game before the console itself has even turned on, right?

Besides, he already has a PS4 and doesn't seem to regret that purchase. Building a PC isn't really going to help him in any way (and I say this as someone who did that himself, before that statement ensures I've involuntary joined the 'Nintendo defense force').

Do mean the OP? I did read the OP, and I still don't see the issue. I know being upset by the menu's responsiveness seems silly, but some people care a lot about the little things like that; when they are somehow lacking, it can sour the entire experience.

And besides, he did spend almost $400 on this. I can see why he may want to reconsider if he isn't totally sure he'll enjoy using the system.

Well, when you put it that way it does seem pretty silly. Maybe he just wanted some advice? It sounds like he really does want the console, but he just needs more justification for keeping it. Maybe that's why he made this thread.

Um, I don't know how many more people need to tell you this, and I honestly don't know why I'm typing right now, but the dude... didn't... play.... any... games...

Any questions?

Well, uh... on my PC this usually only takes a few seconds. On more powerful PCs it is nearly instantaneous. So, yes. Yes it is.

Also, I was being sarcastic about the "Nintendo Defense Force" thing. Apparently that is an actual term people use seriously; I didn't know.

I know. I know he didn't play any games. I have in fact been able to read that the myriad times people have pointed it out to me.
The point in my posts is that it seems to me he regrets spending so much money on an impulse purchase. I don't know about you, but the reason I didn't run out and buy a Wii U immediately is that I, like the OP apparently, wasn't sure I'd feel like I'd get my money's worth.

If the OP had thought about this for a while I could understand the confusion, but it sounds like, while he did somewhat want it, his primary desire to buy it was that it was on sale.
Now, as a veteran of many Steam sales in which I have impulsively bought games at great discounts that I end up never playing, his apprehension is perfectly understandable to me.

OP's actions confuses me, but if the OS is a deal breaker then so be it lol.

Quick Start has been pretty damn fast, DK:TF has been fun; it's gotten a friend to come over just to watch. And off-tv play is pretty damn nice while the gf watches TV.

Buhahaha dat Shamalamadingdong twist in the end!

I haven't noticed him before this thread. Is he notorious or something?

People think I'm overly critical of Nintendo or something. They don't notice my avatar is from a nintendo exclusive and most of my favorite games are Nintendo games. Just that I expect better of them.

Yes, quite notorious for his nonsense in Wii U threads.

That explains why he said the last 3 Zelda have bee horrible (excluding ALBW)

Even if a person isn't a fan of Zelda games they should recognize that they are good.

For example: I personally don't like God of War games. I don't enjoy them but I recognize that they are quality and would never say they are horrible games.

Fair enough. I will just have to pay more attention. You didn't strike me as a troll but I have admittedly not seen many of your posts. You have been fine in this thread.

I'm admittedly critical of Nintendo but because I expect the best of them. Its like when you have an extremely bright kid and you catch him underage drinking. Except lately it seems like he (Nintendo) has started shooting up on the weekends.

Basically I feel like they have a lot of wasted potential and it sucks.

Does that refer to the OP or the Nintendo Defense Force in this thread?

If it's the latter, it's pretty funny; if the former, I'm disappointed, as I have never witnessed such a petty, vindictive act by the NeoGAF mod team.
Usually they are really professional.

They've said they're working on more games like Splatoon, the official 2015 GotY, so what more do you want?

What a tasteless analogy.

I don't think splatoon looks good at all. Im hoping X is good though, monolith is a great developer. Didn't really like xenoblade just because the combat and voice acting. But I can forgive them since they have made some super games, even a licensed game (attack of the saiyins) was superb.
