Ex-Aid toy catalog stuff

I'm so glad to see that Genm remains a villain and even gets more powerups along the way. So if the Level 5 thing is meant to be taken at face value, I guess we're moving up levels with each and every powerup. Poor Brave and Snipe can't compete at this rate.

Double Action whatchamacallit looks like a fun design. We get both Double and Den-O references for the price of one.

Also, Paradox is Level 50!? That power creep.

You can check some pages back (from somewhere up to page 78, I think), when some of us finished Ghost and shared impressions. It's mediocre and not that interesting, I wouldn't say it's crap, but I'm not judging anyone who jumps ship to watch other seasons.

Pages 76-78 from the looks of it.

And this is nice:

Thanks guys. But now I read a review of ghost that said it gets crap after episode 11, which is the last one I saw. How accurate is that? Is it worth finishing?

Hmm, I don't think it got bad that early on. I believe it was towards the midpoint that everything that didn't involve Alain became boring to me.

The beginning of the show up to the point where Takeru gets the boost eyecon is probably the most coherent story arc in the show.

That said, it's not worth it to continue on past that.

That is pretty cool.

Too bad about Ghost, those first 11 episodes were amazing and could easily pass for a series on their own. If that were the series and nothing else, I'd put it with my favorite tokus ever, but I enjoyed Wizard until Phoenix was kileld off (he was a cool villain) and I forced myself to watch the rest so maybe I'll take a lesson from that.

I almost turned Ghost off when they made the wish and the souls went flying all around like Dragon Balls. I honestly expected 20 episodes collecting them all again until they just all landed in the same place.

I'd say it was ok-ish up to the point he got his first power up.

After that, it's kinda of a mess. There are good moments, but they are between lots of boredom. And then, when we get some plot progression, it's kinda underwhelming.

BUT... if you really liked those first few episodes, chances are that you'll like the rest more than most people. I know a few people who liked it, and I can see why, I just don't really feel the same.

ex-aid 2 had quite a bit of Wizard. ice sword basically has the same sound effect when hitting dudes, and the baddie's magic circles look awfully similar to wizard's.

I think the magic circle might have been a recycled asset. The center is covered by a light, but in some scenes it looks like there's Wizard's face mark right there. Either that, or they purposefully made it to homage Wizard, but I'd go with recycled asset.

Thanks guys. But now I read a review of ghost that said it gets crap after episode 11, which is the last one I saw. How accurate is that? Is it worth finishing?

At least to me, there were still many good episodes after that point, although the final resolution to the first plotline is kind of underwhelming. Necrom's debut and first few battles were pretty good, and Igor was fairly threatening in the beginning. The episodes where they first
go to the Ganma world
also were fairly enjoyable, although they stumble on Grateful's debut, which was underwhelming. After that though
Deep Specter's debut and especially Necrom's final turn
were great.

The real problem starts with the episodes after 30, when the show's story progression slow downs to a crawl, and the new major villains and monsters of the week until the ending are basically
personality-less robots
. Then 3 (not counting the Ex-Aid tie in) episodes from the ending the show suddenly rushes to an unsatisfying conclusion that shafts all Riders who aren't Takeru.

I can see why some people would sour on the show right after episode 11 though, like I said above, the conclusion to the first story is very underwhelming. I think the show generally improved after that point though, in spite of that. It's only after that episode the heroes start getting personality and focus and the villains were still fairly decent there.

DC/Power Rangers Crossover comic announced.

Angel Grove’s Teenagers with Attitude Encounter DC’s Most Popular

Super Heroes in January Crossover Miniseries

Variant Cover Program to Pair Power Rangers with Different Justice League Members

BURBANK, CA (October 14, 2016) – On January 11, two of comics’ greatest teams will combine their powers and abilities for the first time! The Justice League—Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern John Stewart, the Flash and Cyborg—meet Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in a six-issue monthly miniseries from New York Times best-selling writer Tom Taylor (INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US, GREEN LANTERN CORPS: EDGE OF OBLIVION) and artist Stephen Byrne (JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA REBIRTH: THE RAY).

“DC and BOOM! Studios teaming up on this crossover is a dream come true for fans of Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the Justice League,” said Hank Kanalz, Senior Vice President, Editorial Strategy and Administration, DC Entertainment. “Stories like this are a great way to have that ‘what if’ itch scratched, combining favorite characters from different publishers in epic adventures.”

Something terrible has happened in Angel Grove when the Power Rangers’ Command Center is breached and the teleporters are damaged! Zack the Black Ranger is flung into an alternate universe full of citizens possessing outrageous powers and wearing strange costumes. Will Jason the Red Ranger, Trini the Yellow Ranger, Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Billy the Blue Ranger and Tommy the Green Ranger be able to get to Zack in time to save him from Batman?

"Everyone at BOOM! is thrilled to be part of an event of this magnitude,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “We have iconic characters meeting for the first time that are beloved the world over! Our imaginations have been racing since the moment this kicked off with our friends at DC and Saban Brands. Get ready...this is one event that's not to be missed."

In addition to the standard covers drawn by Karl Kerschl (GOTHAM ACADEMY: SECOND SEMESTER), each issue will feature a variant cover drawn by one of comics’ most popular artists, pairing each member of the League with a different Power Ranger:

Batman/Pink Ranger by Dan Hipp
Cyborg/Blue Ranger by Dustin Nguyen
The Flash/Black Ranger by Yasmine Putri
Green Lantern John Stewart/Yellow Ranger by Marguerite Sauvage
Superman/Green Ranger by Chris Sprouse
Wonder Woman/Red Ranger by Marcus To
“With their talented roster of writers and artists, DC and BOOM! Studios bring to life the world’s greatest superheroes, including the iconic Power Rangers,“ said Janet Hsu, CEO at Saban Brands. “With DC, BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands partnering, we will bring fans a legendary crossover that will stand the test of time, just as these historical superheroes have done individually for decades.”

Of course it's MMPR lol.

Saban trying to pull a Game Freak

...

Honestly is it due to pandering to the American market that they only shill the first series?

people that watched mmpr as a kid arent watching power rangers now. most pulled out after it ended, but the series went on. yet, they keep pandering to these people.

and it's mostly other american products too, GIJoe, Transformers, etc.

and I feel Game Freak is only doing it because they saw the international market, particularly America

KR and SS aren't so obtuse with stuff like this, hell I think even SS doesn't pander to Gorenger a lot (though I guess the majority of the actors are also unable to make a reprisal).

unlike the hasbro properties. power rangers outside of megaforce has reset the cast outside of mmpr after every season. every series of gi joe has used duke, scarlet, snake eyes and sometimes roadblock. same with transformers. optimus and megatron are constant forces with often changing lieutenants. saban keeps going back to mighty morphin an its characters though

You are really confirming my theory of you being a massive weaboo, Doggie.

Not a massive weaboo, I did point out GF doing the same sin.

Hell even with Digimon's latest "pander to nostalgia to make big bux" they never forgot the protagonists of the other series.

primal and megatron BW tho

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Dino Super Charge 15

Pretty good one. Focused on the plot, no pointless comedy subplots (these feel mandated by Nickelodeon), got to know Zenowing, see the Torinity Streizer (or Prism Slash, seriously get more original names please), and some major backstory for Heckyl. Surprise! Good all along. We'll see if it stays this high. ... I hope.

Five episodes left (six if you count the Christmas clip show)

What does everyone think of the new kaijus in Ultraman Orb so far?

Can't really compare, since it's my first Ultraman in years, lol. I like how much it uses practical effects, tho.

Orb 15

Damn, will there be anything left of Japan after this series ends?

And damn, Belial is brutal.

Interesting turn for the series.

That was amazing.

Seriously, if there's any Rider that needs to be adapted for the West, it's Ex-Aid. It's video games! Money to be printed!
Hell, it'd be a million times better than this "Gamer's Guide to Everything" crap I've seen bits of before Yo-Kai Watch. It's basically an "US GAMERS HUH?" show.
Or that Game Shakers show that strangles out the last of Kel Mitchell's dignity.

Prepare for people complaining about localization and changing names :p

And US GAMERS HUH? is a big thing in US, even among nerds. It's why you got Funco Pop! and Scott Pilgrim :^)

Kel gotta eat too.

Fair enough, that Orange Soda isn't going to pay for itself.

I can handle localization. As long as they don't try to be all "dark and serious" like Dragon Knight, and then completely lose the plot and any semblance of cohesion.

Also, screw Funko Pop. That shit has ruined comic book conventions.

Dragon Knight was a huge disappointment.

It's weird, both Rider adaptations we got were two very opposite extremes.

Saban's Masked Rider was way too goofy, relying more on sitcom tropes than trying to be a super hero show. Yeah early PR was like that but by that point it was evolving away from that. Hell, Masked Rider was even goofier. Doesn't help they got the worst actor to play him.

Meanwhile Dragon Knight is all "Look how cool and edgy we are. Look at all the leather, and this hot babe in leather. Look at all the fighting and the angst! We're so much cooler than baby Power Rangers."
