TokuGAF 2016 |OT| Fantastic Beasts and Ghostly Beats

There's a pretty big change after the first 10 or so episodes in that the main villain basically becomes a parallel protagonist after a while, with a pretty big and active role even while opposing the heroes.

Oh, yeah, it was near the start so I misremembered it as always being there. But anyway, the tone doens't change much.

Rio being a semi-protagonist was a cool idea, tho. Both him and Mele were what made the series go from good to great, for me.

Nothing specific, I wasn't big into sentai back then + I went with big expectations after some hyperbolic recommendations. I actually liked the setup a lot (the fly narrator is great).

Oh, yeah. It's worth watching, but if you like Rider more, maybe Blade? I want to watch it someday, too, but I'm kinda procrastinating toku right now.

Anyone watch Mech X-4? Minds me of an updated Superhuman Samurai.

The method of monster creation is very old school sentai. take 2 random animals and mix them together with some special goo

This week's enemy was pretty cool, even if the solution was kinda cliche.

Next week... Sometimes I think Gai and Juggler will end this series as friends, Juggler will die redeeming himself, or something like that. Yeah, Juggler has done bad things, but their relationship is more of rivals than of hero/villain.

Jetman, despite all the goofy effects and dated transition scenes is indeed the most memorable of sentei. Gai too good.

Yes! Also, some of the best villains. Who could forget Radiguet?

They really tried something different with it, and it paid off. There are quite a few memorable episodes, and most of them are things we had never seen on sentai before, and will probably never see again, like that Casino episode or the first human Radiguet one.

Yep, and Gekiranger was so great too because it also had great emphasis on making great villain characters as well. The villains of the show were just as developed and important as the heroes.

I'd love the design if it had Rider eyes. I'm actually glad Ex-Aid's ratings have been poor from the beginning, without the traditional first episode boost that takes the show to around 7%, since it shows many people aren't even giving a first look at the show due to the goofy designs.

Does anybody here have a discord account? Because I want to try and get people together and a do a live view of a Kamen rider of super sentai episode when they do get release.

I do have one too. I think the last time I watched toku with people through the internet was during the release of All Riders Generation 2, MegaAnon pulled a night stream with movies, toku and obscure anime. And his subs of a Erica Mano music video, since he was in love with her after the Fourze x OOO movie hahahaha.

status on Kenzaki's actor (KR Blade)

So Tsubaki's left cheekbone, maxilla, nasal bone are fractured, his left inner canthus is damaged, and the left eye has subconjunctival hemorrhage from after the golf club assult. It will take him at least 6 months to heal. No guarantee if those can be completely healed.

Do you know the source of this? My friends want to write it for my local club's Toku news but won't do it without source (and /m/ isn't a source).

so far the only source is kamen rider general

maybe it's from a yahoo news

Fuck yeah Kusaka and Larri are back! Definitely has a mild case of "keeping things for yourself" like in Faiz. Also the monster of the week is hilarious.

Yep. Timeranger also has something similar, with at least some of the main villains having good back stories, even if there is a bit less villain focus compared to the other two.

I hope concept art from Sentai makes it's way in there. I was able to see the concept art for Boukenger from back when they were a space-based team, and it looked great; I haven't been able to find it again though.

Changeman was also like that. At least next year we'll get one Space-Themed Sentai, finally.

Zyuohger 37

Seeing him all dressed up as that to meet Larri... wtf does Misao do for a living? He doesn't look like a salaryman, lol.

Cool concept for an enemy. Funny one too. The octopus power up was good too, it throws takoyaki at the enemy!

I kinda wish ZyuBird's design was a bit more different than eagle, at least the bird in the chest, but eh, that's understandable.

Next episode will be good.

Fourze has the best soundtrack, I think. I usually don't bother with songs from a Rider OST, but each one with Fourze was fantastic.

MISAO PLS

Zyuohger is so good the last week without it seemed like a month, damn. Is there a reason for Cube Octopus being a "?" cube instead of a numbered one? And is Necrom going to pass out if he ever see its finisher? Is Bard really Yamato's father? So many questions.

And this episode made me realize ZyuohWhale actually has a blowhole:
