I thought Trump only liked heroes who didn't get caught?

The more he flails the guiltier he looks.

Oh well, as long as some still believe him I guess it is worth it for him. When it's conclusively proven and he denies they will still think his story is the truth.

Dunno. I just dislike cheating. Probably because I, and my teams, never have the balls to do it, and so rarely do the punishments matter. Why not cheat? It just makes sense to take advantage when possible.

well neither did the pats so they made lemonade out of lemons

ba dum tssshhhh

So let me get this straight... Ray Lewis killed a dude and was fined $250K. Brady knew about some dudes letting air out of footballs and gets benched 25% of a season?

So let me get this straight... the NO Saints players had a hitlist and were trying to injure and end careers and were fined 500K. The Patriots let air out of footballs and are fined $1M?

When will Goddell's reign of terror end?

You'd think Brady would have learned from A-Rod's hamfisted attempted at saving his credibility two years ago that trying to actively resist investigation is a bad idea.

i agree, this seems right for tom brady, and those punishments for lewis/saints werent enough.

but thats not what you were saying was it

So what will happen this coming season? It can't be more fucked up then the last one can it?
Murder
Deflate Gate
Domestic abuse
Drugs
Hitlists

What else was there?

What? Of course that's being argued. Your line of reasoning must refute the obvious response that he destroyed it to keep his private phone out of the hands of the NFL. You couldn't possibly blame someone for feeling that.

I can blame someone for destroying evidence very very easily.

Not if you're going to be found guilty anyway.

Either that or saving BB's ass.

If I was Brady there is no way I'd hand over my phone.

Hope he takes it to Federal Court and I hope whatever comes out embarrasses Goodell

This is all on the owners basically telling Goodell to fuck over the Pats, since he was to cozy with them, plus spygate fallout.

Hey GUYS!

I'm buying a new phone today. How should I smash my old phone to preserve my privacy?

Hammer? Water? Pickaxe?

BTW - what's a cloud data server?

katey perry didnt have a wardrobe malfunction during half time.

there is no greater crime this season.

you'd be found guilty as well then

it's ridiculous to destroy the only evidence that could save you, why would you do that then?

It's fun to dream that Brady is saving him and his team from further hammering by covering even worse cheating that hasn't been brought to light yet but it's more likely that Brady is just an idiot.

People really need to stop comparing this penalty to the wife beaters and DUI penalties like they're on the same spectrum. Bringing the integrity of the shield into question is a lot more offensive to your employer than the fuck up you had after hours. Sure beating your wife makes you a worse person than the guy deflating footballs, but one is fucking up your bosses product and the brand of your company while the other is just fucking up the athletes brand/name.

Why would a lack of text messages save him? They already had the two other phones from the people they were looking for messages to and from.

If he's actually innocent then he's a very special case of dumbass.

There is a reason the league picked the Texans for Hard Knocks. Lowest arrest record in thee league and having Captain America aka JJ Watt on the team helps

Whatever comes out would embarrass Goodell. Proof of rampant and systemic cheating from one of the sports darlings.

Pats fans don't get it. Brady being caught cheating is a black eye on the NFL no matter what, which is why the NFL DRAGGED ITS FEET on doing anything when the complaints came around previously!

His phone wouldn't have ended up in the "hands of the NFL" but in the hands of Renaissance Associates, the company contracted by Ted Wells and the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP to gather the relevant data from McNallys and Jastremskis phones for the purpose of the independent investigation.

Do you not follow sports often? Nobody actually thinks they're on the team, it's just how sports fans talk. The teams and fans have a very intrinsic relationship.

I'm no hardcore fan if that is what you mean. I don't rage for days or celebrate if my cities team wins/loses, I'm not screaming at my television or flipping tables either. Some people have a near religious cult surrounding their local teams, I find it to be a bit odd. No biggie.

He's hiding something else. I obviously don't know what but it has to be bigger, to him, than just deflated footballs.

Maybe he is cheating on his wife or using PEDs but I find it weird he'd act this way over something like deflated footballs.

If I was famous, my wife was even more famous and my child's mother was also kind of famous - why hand your phone over to a private company with no oversight? His family's privacy is more important than the assumed 25k-50k fine that Brett Favre got.

If he knew how bonkers Goodell would go with the punishment maybe he'd have reconsidered, but no one could have predicted that.

It's not like the investigation didn't get the phones of the people he was suspected of having contact with anyway. If you have one sides text history you don't need both.

When you don't care about reasoned analysis and thoughtful conclusions you can do many things.

How about this for reasoned analysis...What did destroying his phone actually accomplish when they can just retrieve the messages from whatever carrier he uses if it went to court? It's a panic move. Why would he be panicking? Because he didn't want the NFL to read his sexy time messages with Gisele? Or, was he trying to hide evidence of his guilt?

He got off very, very easy.

This wasn't a criminal offense. There's absolutely no way in hell Verizon or whoever would pass along his messages without Tom's consent, and given the dude destroyed the phone to prevent them from looking at them, he obviously wouldn't have agreed to it.

Everyone in football is trying to hurt someone else. What the league did to the Saints was pitiful.

What do people expect to find on his phone when there was no linking evidence in the ball handler texts?

Sounds like Republicans constantly fishing for shit in the Benghazi investigation.

"We have no evidence but if we keep digging, we might find something"

I doubt they can get his texts from court, they're not the fucking police. They're a company who is accusing him of letting air out of footballs. Who would be fucking crazy enough to grant a subpoena for that?

His wife is not more famous than him.
Maybe not in America, but worldwide she is.

then why destroy it?

If the Patriots bought him the phone (could be very likely) then Kraft could sign off on it.
