Why do some people get so defensive when a musician comes out as against music streaming services? There's a weird level of attachment.

I'm sorry but I just can't take someone seriously when they compare using a paid service for music streaming to carelessly hunting down endangered species. You can explain how something hurts you without resorting to some dumb hyperbole that makes a mockery out of a real issue. Reminds me of that game dev that tried comparing piracy to the fucking holocaust and thought it was okay to say that because he was jewish.

Or just don't want a bunch of music executives dictate what people listen to or who should succeed.

As put by artist Megan Washington, streaming may not pay you much but it tells you who is listening to your music and where they are. It tells you where to go on tour, and that's a gold mine for artists who are smart enough to use these tools.
