Tom Warren on Twitter: Xbox showcase & Starfield Direct will be 2 hours long. 'Probably'90 minutes for Xbox/ 30 minutes for Starfield

I'm not saying beat Sony. I'm saying claw back to have a better gen this time.

Once I got the xbox hardware I was convinced they would hit 70 to 75 mill this time with Sony at about 100 mill but due to a lacklustre 2 years of software releases I'm questioning if ms will reach that number.
Yea I can't see that happening. I said before this gen started that I could see it being outsold by PlayStation 3:1. 2021 numbers were decent and made me think that actually it could be closer. But the current first party studios are taking too long to release content. Also, the "day one on pc" tactic was always going to hurt console sales. I think as time goes on, console sales are becoming more and more irrelevant for MS.

I guess it's close to 3 or 4 million ahead of the 360 at the same time launch aligned and the 360 was like 85 million. I could see the Series hitting that as long as they pump out games like they plan to this year.

Im sure some you complaining are perfectly able to watch a movie or read something or follow a presentation for two hours. Or spend all day and night on forums. But when E3 time comes along, the one time of the year with blowout shows and late cheesy nights watching footage over and over again, its suddenly too much for you? L m a o.

Exactly.

Microsoft just recently caught hell for "not showing up at the Keighleys" (even though they showed up for E3 time, Gamescom and TGS last year)...now that the big showcase is coming, I'm seeing "ew that's too long."
Too long for who exactly? Xbox fans? Actual gamers?
Oh yeah..we know who.

These E3 type showcases were always better when they were closer to 1 hour instead of 2 hours in runtime.
I wouldn't mind 2 hours' worth of actually hype announcements, but these are usually stretched so thin between ads and awful marketing and a bunch of CG trailers that are so far out that tell me nothing about the game. With this length, we better see more info on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Hellblade 2, Avowed, Fable, Everwild, and other current gen announcements. I hope they spent more time with gameplay segments of games.

So the much hyped "Starfield Direct" is only going to be 30 minutes of Starfield?

Fucking LOL. For a game that was supposed to come out last November we have seen precious little of it and they sure are doing everything in their power to not show us anything.

Can't wait. With the Xbox One being 90mins tells me that they are doing more than just their next 12 months bullshit.

I assume that by June MS will know if ABK is going to happen, and so we shouldn't have to worry about them not showing the good shit.

I want to see Indiana Jones, Project Midnight, Project Cobalt, Zenimax Onlines new game, Contraband, Hellblade 2, Forza MS,.Avowed and a couple of new Xbox Global Publishing games.

Will be one hell of a showcase if they do.

Right there with you mate. Come on Xbox bring some big games, and by that I mean actual gameplay. I'll also take Halo battle royale being shown for $1,500.

In all seriousness, I think(hope) we see;
Avowed
Fable
Hellblade 2
Indiana Jones
Project Midnight-unannounced
Project Cobalt-unannounced
Contraband
Perfect Dark
State of Decay 3
Kojima Horror

And for shits and giggles...
Quake
Wolfenstein
Gears 6
Everwild
Killer Instinct
Banjo Threeie
Project Mara
Project Tatanka aka Halo BR

So all indies again and radio silence on fable, perfect dark, avowed, hell blade, and state of decay? Great, also everwild has to be cancelled at this point right?

yep. too much shit that ends up feeling inconsequential, boring and even migraine-inducing.
Agreed. These showcases are too often filled with short trailers for indie and live service games that you can barely remember by the end of the livestream.

Firmly in bitch eating crackers mode at this point.
30 mins deep dive is 'nothing'? You expect them to stream the entire game? 😂

What an embarrassing post :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah man it's all vaporware and they're not going to show anything. Don't even bother watching.
Better yet, don't even bother coming into any Xbox threads during that time.

E3 model is dead and buried. I prefer 30 to 45 min max distributed throughout the year in multiple gaming showcase. May be they have lot of game demos to show and it is ready to be shown.

When you've got as many AAA games as Xbox has in the pipeline I would think 2 hours is a minimum, it probably needs to be longer in reality.

Forza will 100% be there with gameplay
Hellblade 2- 100% will be there in some form prolly with gameplay shown aswell and spring 2024 release date
Avowed- This is more iffy. Im guessing a trailer with a bit of gameplay and Summer 2024 release date
Fable and Everwild - Maybe a trailer but with no actual gameplay. No release date
PD - prolly nothing

Yeah, the entire thing is a 1.5 hour long Forza Motorsport race. You get to see the seasons and different weather effects.

🤡

I mean it's not that impressive technical wise due to budget... although bethesda hasn't been good at that anyways.

If there are any constraints Starfield has, budget isn't likely to be one of them.

Depends all on the pacing and content shown if 2hours fly by or appear like a snoozefest.
They definitely have the studios to fill it with stuff if all the studios that have not yet announced a specific title or not shown many or any details come out guns blazing. And making some marketing deals with some third party titles to appear at their show coupled with a GP agreement is certainly possible too.
Hopefully not just 2h of trailers, a show needs some boring talk as long it's not some why am I here celebrity or overly enthusiastic fake PR people to allow for some proper built up and pause moments.

I don't, but it's what I expect from a console seller. I really don't expect games like hi rush, pentiment etc. Leave that to indie devs honestly.
Both Sony and Nintendo publish games of different budgets as well though.

Concrete Genie doesn't have the budget of Gran Turismo 7 and Good Job! doesn't have the budget of Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Publishers have different games with different budgets and that's normal. It's not caused by Gamepass.

The Xbox showcase will likely be 90 mins and the dedicated Starfield direct 30.

I think we really do need a big chunk for Starfield so they can, hopefully, go over the games mechanics, leveling, skills, traversal etc. And keep all that away from the main show case so that can be dedicated for other games.

Yeah, looking forward to them going over Starfield in more detail. Hopefully they have a lot to show for the upcoming year in the regular show as well. I'm hoping they stick with the more here and now approach of focusing on what is releasing in the next 12 months or so versus things that are 2 or 3 years out.

Better not be like their usual showcase where they show a bunch of dogshit and five minutes of good shit. It's time to either show the goods, or just go the fuck away.

Show me Avowed. Show me Fable. Show me Perfect Dark. Show me some Gears.

Avowed, man wtf. It was what, two years ago that right after E3 someone from Obsidian said they would have something soon on the game for the people, right? God I hate that word so much.

Really though, this has to be it where we finally see something......

Yeah. It might be the talent since their games are so buggy even as of today

It is because Xbox doesn't have their monster hunter, resident evil, final fantasy, star wars jedi (see how I didn't inclue any sony games)

What do you nean by this exactly? Yes MS has struggled to get big games out but Gamepass isn't the cause of that.

Who doesn't have buggy games? Cyberpunk 2077 shit the bed. Saints Row 2022 shit the bed. ND's The Last of Us Part 1 for PC shit the bed. 343's Halo Infinite shit the bed. They just keep coming in droves with constant patches. They are all relying on the internet and gamers as the bug testers post launch instead of investing in some really good play testers.

Developers and publishers need to get their shit together. Us gamers are committing to THOUSANDS of dollars from EACH of us throughout our gaming lives.

I don't all put all games in one basket. There are plenty of games that have minimal bugs. At least on consoles.

Don't act like you don't know you're going to have at least 1h20mn of devs talking to the camera.

Haven't heard what? That Gamepass is causing Microsoft to delay games?

I'm sorry but I don't really understand what you're saying

Gamepass has really affected the budget of first party games and you don't see third party high quality budget games go in there day 1.
You can look at the list, but I'm feeling you're going to overvalue stuff but w.e. It's my opinion and I see it as fact until something is released that breaks it so far. I though Wo Long was going to be that, but that game looks eh.
