Oh. I just read someone in the Too Human thread saying this was his first review or something. I apologize

what's a C- on 1 to 10 scale?

actually according to past review scores it's 4.5-5.0

edit: Red Steel scored a C and in the old scale that was 5/10, Pokemon Battle Revolution is a C- and 4.5/10 before-hand.

Another thought. I'm no Silicon Knights whore. But I think it's very sad that a game that's been kicked around since the PSOne days, clearly a labor of love, ends its tale on such an ignoble note. Yeah, I know it's only 1-Up, for now, but I think there's enough negative buzz and press and demo impressions that we can clearly say that the game isn't going to be amazing.

I've liked SK's previous games despite their (in some cases, many) flaws. I can only hope I'll similarly like this one, when all is said and done. In any event, I've already preordered it, so I suppose I'll be chiming in with my own impressions in the official thread, later this week.

wait, did anyone actually expect Too Human to be a AAA title? it has never looked more than a button mashing loot-a-thon, dated and bland

god -_-"

EDIT: i honestly think that SK aren't bad devs, and i'm really hoping that the game will make it up in terms of sales. otherwise, MS will pull a shadowrun on them.

god I hate "new games journalism".

5 sentences, that's not a review. Completely useless, how are you supposed to take any information out of this?

I agree, it's a good thing this review isn't 5 sentences then!

Not much meat to the review. He just hit on the negatives and left it at that. There was no mention of the graphics, the musical score, game performance or anything. Those things are necessary with a game with the budget of TH.

I think my biggest problem with the review is that their really isn't much of a conclusion. I started looking for a "page 2" button. Seems like the review ended too early. This went from a Must Buy, to a Must Rent, to a maybe if Im really bored game in a very short amount of time.

Next up on the 1Up show: Denis Dyack and how gamereviewers are destroying the industry.

While I do sympathize with the sad, sad outcome of Too Human, I think that the guys over at 1UP will never invite Dyack to have his book report lecture and waste their time again.

Goodbye Too Human II and III, we hardly knew thou.

Too Human C-

Shadowrun B+

FASA gets shut down.

Silicon Knights will continue to get funding and sue EPIC.

The legacy of Shane Kim.

but if the reports of preorders were true, this game might easily sell well over 1 mil by the end of the year.

since the OPM days

Terrible review needless to say, neither informative nor intelligent it seems (can't see how there's no difference in the classes, maybe if he mentioned they seemed more suited to 4 player co-op his view would seem more valid) Also it means nothing given there's no other reviews of his to compare it with, though there are only a few people at one up that given decent reviews anyway.

Nice to see Giancarlo back. I liked his stuff from the old OPM days.

i still remember him and his funny video features on the old Gamespot.

and yes to a previous reply, he's not new. he just doesnt do any videos or podcasts on 1up.

Now we're channeling the Twilight Princess review thread?

Wouldn't be too certain about that.

Although I'm under embargo, as many of my colleagues are, I'll say that the game is entertaining all the way up to the end. There better be a sequel :)

:) :) :) There will be - 2 in fact. Discovery->Revenge->Enlightenment :D

I can assume the revenge angle is a bit more clear to you after finishing :)

It will be interesting to see how the sales turn out and what MS thinks in the end.

so is this the part where we pick apart the review ?

then a week from now we notice that the majority of the reviews have the same score and then we cling on to the one random review from Greece as the only review that matters?

The entire review is a conclusion. It's like a fucking draft of a review. It's less than that, it's a draft of a message board bullet list. It rags on the graphics and story like they were a foregone conclusion. The review just assumes you know the game is crap.

Man, I've never read a review from thehdroom.com but that reviews was leagues better than the 1up review. I can care less about the scores but at least put some damn effort into your reviews.

On to the next review :D

>.< nobody has mentioned if the controls are customizable yet though!

lol at people thinking bad reviews are gonna kill SK and Too Human Trioligy....

Obviously the game is gonna sell. I don't know if it's gonna met MS expectations, but enough to assure the sequels...

I don't think anyone is arguing the score here. The review is flat and uninformative. There is no depth or examples that backs up his issues with the game. I see nothing in there about framerate, audio, online features or lag or most important ARE THE CONTROLS FUCKING CUSTOMIZABLE!

Nobody has answered that damn question! :lol

If this is true, the world is coming to a sad low. At least PS3-fanboys had the decency to let Lair bomb.

all 1up reviews are like that sadly. Its just if all the complaints listed are valid it really does not matter what the score is :(

no one seems to complain when the review scores are high tho. (until after the game is released at least.)

I don't know about that. When was the last time a game without a license wasn't killed by bad reviews and internet hate? Unless IGN or some other major site gives it a good review, I don't see much hope for Too Human.

I'm clinging to nothing. Jeez I even stated in that post "on to the next review" Not my fault reviews these days are written like a live blog. Is it so much to ask for well detailed reviews?
